Nice observation from someone about SD and Raw.
Think back to Bayley's debut on Raw. She came out, and on her very first night, challenged Charlotte to a match for the belt. She didn't earn it, it was just a match that seems to have been booked because they can do a lot with the story, etc. This is reminiscent of the old way Raw and Smackdown was run.

On Smackdown, everything is earned. Title matches aren't just thrown together because the star power is there. New Tag Titles are being fought for in a tournament, which includes every tag team. Nobody got preferential treatment to be included. The Woman's championship is being fought for in a Six-Pack Challenge, and no woman was left out. The WWE Championship's contenders were either decided by a 6-man match (where I'll admit not everyone earned their spot, but that was what, the first show?) and AJ got a title match because he beat the top dog of the show, clean.

The difference I see is that each and every challenger is going to have a story. None of their victories will ever seem like "He's over, he gets the belt." And all of their losses will have us going along for the ride with them, losing an opportunity and having to claw their way back up.

Raw had little tournaments, but with such a huge roster, it is extremely evident that the guys getting put in the constant fatal four ways are just guys hand-picked from the main card and upper mid-card. Everyone who wins a title on Raw will have the fact that they were essentially given a shot in sake of the plot.

Just a little tidbit I noticed when comparing how I felt about the two shows.

Nice observation from someone about SD and Raw.

That's a big reason why I like watching Smackdown more. Actual character development with storylines and opportunities that make sense. They also seem MUCH more focused on making everyone look credible. Heath Slater's still exist but I never thought I'd see Breezdango look like they might actually pull off the upset and believe it was possible because they were wrestling well and looked credible.

WHO FUCKIN' KNEW JOHNNY CURTIS WAS PRETTY GOOD AT WRESTLING?

I would like to know more about this.

JR talked about it on a podcast and his quote was...

“I remember Vince said, ‘You want to hire this Asian girl, right? I don’t know, I just don’t know.’ And I said, ‘Well Vince, you know, there’s a lot of guys that like Asian women. There’s Asian porn sites.’ and Vince responded "NO! get out!"

Come to think of it there hasnt been that many Asian women wrestlers in WWE over the years. Asuka is kind of the first in ages. Maybe since Gail? Maybe I am missing someone?

I would like to know more about this.

Vince was hesitant about hiring Gail Kim or "that Asian girl" as he referred to her.

Ross, determined to hire Gail, sweetened the pot by arguing that "lots of people like Asian girls. There are even Asian porn sites."

Vince was completely fucking baffled at this news.

The double turn of Carmella and Nikki Bella was reason enough to show why SmackDown is the superior show to Raw.

They recognized that Carmella wasn't getting over at all and decided to rectify the situation quickly after the pay-per-view. On Raw, who knows how long that shit would've been prolonged.

literally laughing at the "my cousins" and "raw audience" posts about nakamura not being over when he goes to the main roster

if that sami zayne/nakamura match happened on a main roster PPV without anybody knowing who the dudes were, they would've been instantly over by the end of it.
