Alex Shelley announced via twitter that he will begin wrestling for New Japan in 3-weeks and the story has since been confirmed on New Japan's website. Other gaijins signed for September's tour, which kicks off at Korakuen Hall on the 7th, include former WWE Superstar Harry Smith, who previously has wrestled for Pro-Wrestling NOAH, and top CMLL talents Mascara Dorada and Averno.

Awesome! Hope Shelley sticks around in New Japan for a while - so many potentially awesome Jr. Heavyweight matches. Shelley vs Devitt, Shelley vs Liger, Shelley vs Ibushi, Shelley vs Low Ki, Shelley vs KUSHIDA, Shelley vs Taguchi, Shelley vs TAKA, etc.

Fuck yeah Averno! Forget being excited about those Shelley matchups, replace those with Averno instead. One of these days I will pull a Bootaaay with lucha libre matches.

Except the WWE recaps the ALL the bits every 20 minutes for weeks at a time, sometimes MULTIPLE times per show. It's the equivalent of someone dying in a drama and getting replays of the death after every commercial break. The show has no natural flow when Cole is constantly throwing back to a stupid pyro accident from 3 hours prior, or 4 Brock/HHH video packages a night, or showing the entire clumsy looking brawl Cena was in 3 times. It may not seem like a big deal on a 2-3 hour show, but it makes watching tiresome and adds up week to week. It's just another example of the company playing so hard for the TV audience that they forget it's a LIVE EVENT. Every segment should be BUILDING the show to its main event climax, not just to produce a clip to be replayed 97 times for an idiot audience that apparently can't retain information.

Got a recap it for all the little jimmies in the audience.

Aiii

So not worth it
Big Show vs Punk is kicking off Raw?

They are in the main event at Summerslam next week! THIS IS FUCKING STUPID.

It's almost as if Punk is in the middle of an angle where he's pissed off about not main eventing and being the focus of the show. Jezus!

This Saturday in Japan, DDT will be holding its 15th Anniversary show in Budokan Hall. The main event will be Kota Ibushi Vs Kenny Omega for Ibushi's KO-D Title. As part of Ibushi's training for the match he discovers various ways to drop people onto their heads. As you will see in the video below.

Haha, both would be good for a WWE blog, but no way in hell would I want to spend that much time on anything solely WWE related :p

Please do, man! I keep meaning to watch more lucha, just got a run of w CMLL TV from last September up to March of this year, in fact. First show of the bunch has La Sombra vs Averno. Awesome :)

This match will be epic. Also, poor Shigehiro! All those bumps looked nasty, even with the mats.

I thought Averno got signed by WWE

He is, apparently, they've just never called him up. It was why he unmasked in CMLL, but from what I hear it's only made him more of a star over there.

Kids aren't that dumb, though. A lot of them have bad taste, but it's about how you train them as viewers, and if the WWE is doing their job good enough to keep them up to speed. If you treat them like they're smart enough to keep up, a majority of the time they WILL, and it'll be a more rewarding experience for them. As dumb as videogames, movies, TV shows, music, the internet, etc. are, nearly all of them treat their audiences better than the WWE does.

Plus this is what commentary and interviews are for. They're the narration and flashbacks of professional wrestling, respectively. Video packages and constant replays are a huge crutch to actually putting the work in to develop angles, and make the show feel constantly forward moving.

WWE Champion C.M. Punk appeared at Wizard World in Chicago on Saturday and took part in a Q&A session. The following are the highlights of the session…

-CM Punk said his match against Daniel Bryan at Over The Limit was probably his favorite match of 2012.

-Someone asked Punk what he thought about facing Bryan in a submission match and Punk said he would love for that to happen.

-On the Kevin Nash controversy about smaller wrestlers winning the title: Punk said that it is Nash's opinion and you can't hate someone's opinion just because you don't agree with it.

-On JTG's twitter rant: CM Punk said if JTG had a problem with something, he should have talked to Vince McMahon or someone backstage instead of ranting about it on Twitter. Punk said that although his original Pipe Bomb promo was a public rant just like JTG, everything Punk said during the promo were the same things he had been saying to Vince for months.

-Someone asked Punk if he still feels the same way about the things he said in his original Pipe Bomb promo a year ago. Punk said it's different now because he is a lot less pissed off than he was back then.

-Punk was asked if he would rather face The Rock or John Cena at WrestleMania, and Punk said he wants to face The Rock so he could try to have a better match with Rock than Cena did and then be able to tell Cena that Punk's match was better. Punk made it sound like Rock and Cena are the top two possible opponents for WrestleMania next year.

-Punk said it's unlikely he will face Stone Cold anytime soon because Stone Cold just had knee surgery. Punk said the match will only happen if Stone Cold wants it to happen.

-Punk talked about how Eddie Guerrero offered to help CM Punk and Punk would talk to Eddie many times.

-Punk revealed that his new DVD will be shown to the public at a theater in Chicago two days before it is released. Punk said that one of the extras on the DVD is Kofi Kingston and him playing a Street Fighter video game and Punk said it's funny.

-Punk said he doesn't really know if Colt Cabana wants to be in the WWE because when they talk to each other, they don't talk about wrestling.

-Punk said that he was originally going to get the lead role in The Marine 3. He would have worked on WWE TV shows and been off house shows, but the shooting schedule conflicted with the WWE European tour. Punk said that the role went to someone in the WWE that fans wouldn't care so much if he was gone for a little bit. Punk was referring to The Miz.

-Punk was asked who he would work with if he could work with anyone. He said Samoa Joe. Punk was also asked which wrestler from an independent company he would like to see in the WWE. Punk said Samoa Joe again. The fan said that Samoa Joe works for TNA and Punk said something like: "I know. You said indy didn't you?"

-Someone asked when we would see Punk perform the Pepsi Plunge again. Punk said that it isn't used because he doesn't think he needs to use it. Punk said the move isn't banned and no one has told him he can't use that move.

-The Overexcited Brock Lesnar Fan was in line to ask a question and before his question, Punk invited him to the stage. Punk said something like, "Does anyone know who this is? It's the Brock Lesnar Guy!" Punk talked about that the guy is shown in every Lesnar video package because of when he copied Lesnar's entrance thing when Lesnar returned on Raw in April. Punk made the fan do the same thing he did on Raw. I think Punk said that the guys in the back enjoy seeing it whenever it is replayed.

-Punk talked about retiring from wrestling. He said that he will be 34 in a few months and that is too old to be able to perform at a high level in professional wrestling. Punk said he won't be another Triple H or Undertaker. Those two guys are currently older than 40 and still performing in the ring. Punk said when he does retire, he will leave the wrestling business for at least two years. I think he said if he does return to wrestling, he won't make a return to the ring. His retirement will not be like a Terry Funk retirement. Punk said he feels good now and he wants to stay healthy after he is retired. Punk said he has had one surgery and he never wants another surgery ever again. Punk said that he doesn't want to say when he might retire because the answer would "depress the hell" out of everyone.

-Punk said he is running out of goals to accomplish and wants to retire soon because he has never had a break. I think Punk said that other than a two month break after he fractured his skull, he has never taken a break since 1997. Punk mentioned that he was supposed to get a break after Money in the Bank 2011, but that didn't happen.

-Punk said "CM" means whatever fans want it to mean.

-Punk was asked what was his biggest challenge becoming a WWE Superstar. Punk said, "I think the challenge was becoming a WWE Superstar and there was just so much that was challenging about it. I don't really know what the hardest thing was."

-CM Punk talked about a new design for the WWE Championship title. I think he said it's coming soon and it will be something he helped create. He teased that it could happen at SummerSlam or maybe at the next Pay-Per-View after SummerSlam which is in Boston, John Cena's hometown.

-CM Punk said Tout and Twitter are the future of the WWE so get used to it. Punk said he thinks it is good for the WWE, but he doesn't want to see Tout on Raw every ten minutes.

-CM Punk said WrestleMania is going to cities that give WWE the most money and he compared the process to cities bidding for the Olympics.

-CM Punk said he doesn't like getting hit with weapons, especially Kendo Sticks. Punk said Kendo Sticks are very painful and told the fans not to hit people with Kendo Sticks.

-Punk was asked to name his favorite fighting video game and he said he likes Mortal Kombat.

-Slapshot is Punk's favorite movie.

-CM Punk was asked about the possibility of a CM Punk comic book. Punk said he doesn't want to see it. Punk did say that he might be currently working on creating a comic book.

-Punk was asked about his favorite Batman villain and he said it is probably The Joker. Punk was also asked about which fictional character he would like to wrestle and Punk said he would fight Catwoman.

Buries Miz, JTG, TNA, and Cena. He's such a Hogan.

At least he's a Catwoman mark.

If I had to guess, I'd say it has a lot to do with this by-segment ratings craziness. Say they gain 150k views at the start of hour 2. They're trying to hook all those people for the main event. I'd be interested to see them post ratings after those replays. I know it makes me want to change the damn channel every time. Unless its something awesome like Cena being unable to properly hit the largest target on the roster but Show having to sell it anyway.

One thing I really liked about that Misawa vs Kawada match that got posted earlier was if someone fucked up a move so it didn't look like it would actually hurt, the other guy would just no sell it. Made the match a lot more believable.

LMAO. Why can't Punk shoot like this on Raw?

Yeah, luckily there's a lot of great lucha uploaders like cubsfan and warriorsx2000 who put up a lot of stuff.

And to this day we still have no idea if Averno was actually offered a contract. No one was ever able to confirm it and Averno has never really said anything. But yeah, once he lost the mask he started showing off some awesome rudo mannerisms that dont come across as well with a mask. He has this great smirk that comes off so smug. Is really the MVP of CMLL right now along with Volador

I also like the hate towards the Tout and Twitter mention every 10 minutes.

How can you hate this guy.

I was in a restaurant on Saturday. Olympics are on, 12 year old kid on the next table over says, 'Ha!Ha! Australia lost' I looked up to see a Tunisian women lost a race. I wept for humanity.

I guess it's selfish but it seems unfair for Punk to bitch and moan about not being a star and then threaten to retire very soon. Why should WWE make an investment in someone like him? He has leverage now and he's using it, but I kind of feel bad for everyone else involved.

Plus Dean Ambrose is going to debut. Damien Sandow is gonna win a title. Also, Sheamus will defend his title to Bryan and tap out to the NO LOCK instantly

WWE Solution: Show Tunisian woman losing the race over and over for the next 2 hours with Michael Cole screaming in his ear about what happened. See the same highlights for the next 3 weeks before seeing it AGAIN before the big final race on PPV. Jimmy understands now but is bored and wants to watch Cena race instead.

Better Solution: Interview the Tunisian woman who mentions she feels bad and angered about letting her country down. Alternatively, interview the winner and have her put down the Tunisian woman by name and country leading to possible 1 on 1 race down the line. Show the replay the next week ONCE and as part of the PPV package. Jimmy now understands and still wants to see Cena race, but isn't tired of seeing the Tunisian woman and might actually be interested in what's taking place without it being beaten into his head.

Or drum it in till its a distraction, but my point was you could see the country flag and know that it wasn't Australia - yet the kid still thought it was Australia. Therefore they have to repeat it for them ad nausea.

By the way people i'm just telling you now that the best part of Raw will be when a slightly different Barrett return promo airs, if i'm wrong it means that WWE probably put on a passable show so either way I win.
That said the show before a PPV has a tradition of being as bland as possible in this modern era so I stand by my Barrett point.

Well it's wrestling so the solution is simple.

American Flag?

Yes? Babyface
No? Heel

Austrailia, Tunisia, whatever. They're all arrogant, womanizing, stealing, thieving, murdering, killing criminals.

Speaking of Hoggin'

I saw his anthology for sale at a local place for $3.99. Considering an endurance run with my buddies of every Hoggin match on it.

Speaking of Hogan,

I was listening to the Jim Rome show and somehow Hogan was brought up amid the Chad Johnson news. In particular this part about him sympathizing with O.J.:

Hulk Hogan is in chronic pain, but isn't counting out a return to the ring. The superstar wrestler revealed the most intimate parts of what's left of his private life to Erik Hedegaard for a feature in the new issue of Rolling Stone, including how he "could have turned everything into a crime scene, like O.J." after learning his soon-to-be ex-wife Linda had abandoned him (but not his 20,000-square-foot Florida mansion) for a 19-year-old boy her daughter had gone to high school with.

I've never read this article, but I will now, brother.

You forgot that the WW Universe loves Irish faces because they just love ta foight.

wait is Ambrose really devuting or is everyone hopeful. dont get my expectation up

It's a running joke among WWE-haters lampooning Brodus Clay's much delayed debut.

When they tell you otherwise and try to correct me, know that they are habitual liars and will say anything to get you to hate WWE and watch internet wrestling.

Hug_MSG_Incident_original_display_image.jpg

Let's all hug it out, G-Fex is back!

who?

well he has been ready to debut his match with regal was excellent. most of the guys on NXt are ready to debut. but hey here is a bunch of swuah matches. why the 30 minute CW bshow is not NXt is baffling to me.

Man look at you guys shitting up this thread with this so called Dean Ambrose character, you'd never see me taking a wrestler I liked and championing him like a madman for months on end.
Seriously though if Dean Ambrosia Rice Pudding isn't the most delicious thing to hit WWE in some time then i'm blaming all of you for overhype, and judging by the way WWE handles most newcomers i'm just saying we best prepare for derailment.

Everyone here puts too much on Dean Ambrose. He has been "ready to debut" for almost a year it seems now. He probably won't even have the same name and gimmick when he debuts.

Duke Bucknimble

Mild mannered dog walker turned wrestler who often barks during his matches. Has a particularly slow promo style and introduces himself before every one of them despite being on TV for a year before hand. Squashes lots of no names before curiously losing a match to humanize him. He then flounders around waiting for his chance to tag with Kofi Kingston.
