August Wrasslin' |OT| starring Bryan Danielson & John Cena in a worked reality show

My favorite Sin Cara moment:

I was at Wrestlemania axxess and was eating something by the elevator. I see a bunch of security escorting someone. Turns out it was Sin Cara and I'm standing in his way. I move aside to let them go into the elevator. He goes in and turns around looking outside the closing door. As the door closes, some guy runs up to the door and yells "DON'T BOTCH THE ELEVATOR!!!" Sin Cara goes from looking up to looking straight down at the floor while the elevator doors came to a complete close. I could not stop laughing.

Aiii

So not worth it
As a corollary to what we were discussing the other day, I think having a real, legitimate rule book is a logical first step to establishing weight classes in WWE.

Keep that MMA muck out of my wrestling please.

A undecisive ref doesn't need rule changes either. He was the one that didn't respond well to Natalya releasing the hold too soon. Should've not called for the bell and cause all that confusion.

He bloody well made the same mistake this week with Layla and Naomi as well. Slow counted the pin, causing Layla to kick out at 2 instead of 3 and then once again being all undecided on what to do before calling the bell.

I don't know if he's still green or not, but that's twice in a week he's made mistakes.

I don't get the appeal of Nakamura's swagger just like I don't get the appeal of Devitt's shitty looking gun taunt. To me it just looks like he's pretending that he's got cerebral palsy, pretty offensive in my opinion.

Hahahaha oh jeez, now I just think Nakamura hates everybody with Bell's Palsy now

Devitt's gun taunt is pitiful you're right.

Nakamura's swagger is best accompanied by his theme though. So good. His little dance out onto the ramp at Wrestle Kingdom 7 was probably my favorite.

Whatever nerd *jacket*

The little shuffle step shit at WK7 was so silly. EVERYTHING about Nakamura is silly. That's the fun part. His evolution is awesome.

First he was this super lanky, super uncoordinated dude with sweet subs

Now that somehow turns into this weird ass Eddie Murphy/rockstar combo who's whole thing is kneeing people in the face

He's like Asian DDP

But consider how weight classes could establish stars in each division; some division leaders could go on multi-year reigns that would give them credibility far beyond, say, what Cody Rhodes enjoys as the "Intercontinental Champion." Then think about what would happen if a lighter weight fighter, like Daniel Bryan, enters an Absolute competition where he has to face equally-skilled, but significantly larger opponents, like Lord Tensei. If both Bryan and Tensei are built up as the best in their divisions, a superfight between them--ideally at WrestleMania--would be like a 600k buy fight.

Poor Sin Cara. I feel like I was one of the only people here who ever got behind him... :(

They should just bring Hunico back under the Sin Cara mask and have him dump Sin Cara in a crate labelled "To Mexico" like the ol' Spirit Squad send off.

One of the best things of NJPW, is the prestige with the belt. Showing all previous belt holders before a big bout, presented well, really ups the class and gravity of the match about to go down. I wish WWE had its own version of NJPW's 'parade of stars' so to speak.

No. Nak is an eccentric coke head. There is no pretending to have cerebral palsy at all.

I think a division by belt would be better than weight classes.

Kind of like baseball.

Wwe title= major league
Big gold= AAA
Intercontinental =AA

Would help elevate guys better.

I didn't appreciate Nakamura right away. He kind of had to grow on me. Everyone here seemed to really like him while I'm left here thinking that just because you make crazy gyrations and hand gestures doesn't mean you're an entertaining wrestler.

Then I remember one day where I tried to mimic him and found it nearly impossible. That's when I realized that I don't think he's playing a character. I think that's just him, unbridled and unfiltered. You have to be confident as hell in yourself to just go out there and act crazy like that and the fans respond. I have a new appreciation for the guy now.

I also originally didn't care for him because I found the first two matches I saw him in to be kind of formulaic. I preferred Shelton Benjamin over him initially because Shelton really impressed me in their match earlier this year. Then I saw Shelton in a match that wasn't against Nakamura, and it just wasn't very good. Meanwhile Nakamura is having the same quality matches or better. It made me realize that he's really great at making his opponents look good. Nakamura vs Ibushi was probably my favorite match from the G1 tournament and I think it was because of a combination of Ibushi's crazy offense and Nakamura's ability to make his opponents look really strong. He won that match, but Ibushi still came out looking amazing.

The short version is, I am on the Nakamura train now.

They should at least do that thing where the commissioner of the league makes the title fight official by signing a legal document before the fight begins, like PRIDE Fighting Championships used to. Brad Maddox could play the role of Sakakibara-san.

How about:

WWE Title = World Champion. Only defends title on PPV. WWE makes him look like sort of a big deal.

Intercontinental/USA = The guy who the company believes will eventually challenge or become champion. Mostly defends title at PPV, occassionaly defends on TV. WWE makes him look like a big deal and doesn't job him out in non-title matches

TV Title = An up and comer or work horse (like when Cesaro or Bryan won the IC or US title).

And if they care about this weight class thing then they can do a Cruiser/Light Weight title.

I see no point in weight classes in WWE today since most guys are pretty close to the same weight/height range. It's not like you have a bunch of small guys and a bunch of big guys. You have mostly average guys and a few big guys. All that will come out of weight classes will be a lot of Tons of Funk vs Big Show/Henry or something.

The chemistry between Naitch and SCSA is pretty fucking great. This is just an enjoyable podcast to listen to.

Guys, I am legit shook. I tried to close a tab while browsing gaf and the whole screen dimmed and I got a pop-up that says,
" you need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button until it turns off, then press the power button again. "

What da heyll?? I thought Macs were immune to this shite. I'm posting from my phone, What do I do?

Actually agree with some of your points:
  • WWE Championship only defend on PPV
  • World Title defends on TV/PPV
  • WWE Universe Championship where users can vote on who they want the challenger to be.

Get rid of US and IC titles, keep Diva and Tag and then at least you can get people to go up the rafters of WWE.

Not sure if this is posted by AJ Styles just posted this on his facebook page:

His contract ends in September. I doubt he is going to ROH and Japan has enough foreigners right now. So the question is does WWE have interest in him?

Thats a typical TNA contract negotiation trick.

Also I think AJ Styles has missed his shot to go to WWE by about 5 years.

I havent watch a AJ styles match in a while. Is he still ok?

Speaking of the rulebook, DH Smith mentioned a while back that each partner in a tag match is allowed to make one save before being DQ'd, and that he used to get mad about that not be explicit because people would ask him why partners don't interfere with every pinfall. There was a match (Shield?) recently where one of the teams was DQ'd for interfering twice and that came to mind immediately.

I'd love to get a look at the entire thing.

This was great.

I hopped on the NJPW train late so I'm doing my best to catch up but watching his older matches, you can really see how he has grown as a wrestler both in the ring and personality wise. He's not the biggest or strongest but he has that look and demeanor that makes you pay attention to him. The more I watch, the more of him I enjoy.

Plus, he seems to really love the sport. Watching that vid that Sunflower posted, you could see his passion regarding the wrestlers he was talking about.

At least HHH exposed the CM Punk is "such a rebel" BS that some people still believe.

"But I laugh, like, when writers say "Oh, CM Punk laid the pipe bomb and lifted the fourth wall in a promo."31 So let me get this straight, you think we put him out on TV, he broke fucking everything we were supposed to do, and then sat down Indian-style and started blistering everybody, and we didn't think Let's take him off the air? If that would've been a shoot, it would've been off the air the second he started."

Lol wat. Is that a NJPW or WWE rule? I've never seen that enforced in WWE except for that Shield match, and there it just felt like a bullshit ending so they wouldn't have to have any kind of real finish.

Anybody that believes anything that makes WWE airwaves from someone with a microphone, while the camera remains firmly on them is a shoot is a total mark.

WWE rule. Another rule: non-legal partner can only be in the ring for five seconds. DH Smith is kind of short sighted when it comes to his time in WWE, but he has a point. It would make a lot more sense if people knew both of those rules.

It's more of an unwritten rule I think. I remember he talked about it when Meltzer was interviewing him a couple weeks back.

The 5 count for the non-legal partner has always been a rule, though. It just happens that WWE refs take 30 seconds to count to 5. I thought that was a well known and established rule for tag team wrestling pretty much everywhere. Hence the ref counting and forcing guys out of the ring when they aren't the legal man.

All tag team matches should be contructed under a mix of lucha tag and tornado tag rules.

Tags and ring outs count as tags but as the match picks up, at the refs discretion tags are thrown out the window.

Who in the world thought that was a "shoot"? It might have broken the fourth wall but I'm sure everyone knew from the start that Punk was very much authorized to do his promo.

CM Punk said himself on his DVD he was handed a mic and told he could air his greviences.
