Nah, I'm pretty sure it's closer to a couple of hundred thousand hours. Nice try, though. If you don't plan on socialising (good choice - people are yucky) you might be able to knock over a fair number of games in a year. Why not take the Wii and one handheld and if you find out that you're running out of games it will be easy to bring a handheld back on one of you trips to and from the site.
Conundrum: should I bring my Wii to site with me if I am also bringing a 3DS and PSP? I have a backlog of Wii/GC/VC games, but it almost seems like too much video game stuff.
First trip will likely be my last opportunity to take it because of strict weight restrictions on flights on later trips (first trip is by bus). I'll be there for a year.
I only took my portables (vita/3ds) with me when I came to Hong Kong, and later had my dad bring my ps3 over when he was visiting. It's been a year now and I really haven't touched the ps3, save for a couple of recent releases. The idea that I would go through and clear my ps3 backlog totally did not happen. So yes, it was kind of overkill.
If you have a decent enough backlog of 3ds/ds/psp games, and access to new 3ds stuff if need be, then you should be fine I reckon. But it really depends on how much time you think you'll be just sitting around playing games. Then maybe divide that number by 2 lol.
ahhhh
I'm in a similar thing (plan that is not really a plan) with LiveConnected (small optus reseller). I've been on their $11.99p/m plan since September 2012. They changed their plans over a year ago and I'm still on 12 buckaroos a month.
I think they'll probably charge me more one day. Apparently they've been bought so that could be the catalyst.

My thought was that I'll have an hour or two to waste per night that's not spent working, eating, sleeping, exercising or calling home. Honestly, the PSP and 3DS really ought to cover that pretty well.
It's just that as a husband and father, I will never again have time to play video games on a console, ever.
A wii takes almost no room. If you have the games you want to play, and a tv to play it on, and the wii is only going to gather dust if you leave it behind, then you lose nothing by taking it.
You probably wont feel much like gaming the short time you are home.
So take them all, then, silly!. Even if the Wii doesn't get played while you're away it sounds like it definitely won't get played when you're at home so what's the use of having it there?

You can have the video output to the Gamepad and it has a sensor built in so you don't need a sensor bar but you can still only control with Wii controllers, not the Gamepad itself.

Yeah it will be $62. So about $12 more than the local version. I kinda wan't the alternative cover. But then again buying it digitally will be $30 cheaper.
If anyone is thinking about buying a cheap Vita, I've noticed a few Cash Converters stores sell them in perfect nick for about $189. Bargain for such a cool little handheld.
I wasn't so much talking about Telstra but online stores like Kogan. The full size Xperia Z1 launched at $750 or thereabouts. A month or two after launch, some places were selling it for around $600-650. Now you can get it new for around $550.
After the initial hype, all smartphones decrease in price and you can find them for quite cheap if you look around. For instance, the LG G2's sale price tanked to under $500 after only a few months. Its hard to say since the Xperia Z1 Compact can already be found for pretty cheap but its safe to say that the price will decrease after its fully launched in Europe and Asia.
The bluetooth headset (DR-BTN200) has a realistic market price of $100. Sony audio products are either shit (99% of stuff) or really bloody good (ES receivers and amps). I doubt its particularly good and you probably won't get a good price on eBay/Gumtree.
So to answer your question, go on holiday and then decide from there. It'll be in Telstra stores everywhere so you can give it a try and see if you actually like it since its actually a pretty chunky phone. The 4S' resale price should remain consistent while the Xperia Z1 Compact's sale price should drop.
Forgot to thank you for this... fantastic advice. Holding onto my 4S for another few months yet (at least, until iOS 7.whatever shits me to the point of buying an Android phone. It's not fucking far off at all).
I watched two movies on the weekend that I enjoyed in different ways-
Anchorman 2- R rated cut-
When it's firing, its really firing. When it's misfiring (which is way more than I expected), it's still good, but feels like I'm watching a sequel to Wake Up Ron Burgundy. Either way, I enjoyed it. The stuff with James Marsters,
Winnebago scene, the chicken of the cave
and the
rehashed news anchor battle
and the denouement of
Greg Kinnear
were the highlights.
what didn't work were a lot of the Steve Carell/Kirsten Wiig bits- not all but most and the long detour the story takes
in the lighthouse- which was good, but felt like it didn't belong in the same movie as the rest of the stuff
The other film was About Time. I have a new favourite soppy movie. Absolutely loved it. It looks like a romcom, but only for the first half, the second half is more about the main guy and his dad.
I will literally watch any old shit with Rachel McAdams in it, but the dude in this is also really good. So much better than Richard Curtis' last film "The Boat that Rocked."
Also I was going to buy Infamous Second Son, then I realised Sony gave me the first two games free with PS+ before and they'll probably do it again for this eventually. So instead I paid $60 for the collectors edition of FFX HD...

The Age (one of Australia's biggest newspapers) has posted an interesting article in response to the Titanfall server issues here in Australia, arguing the 'drawbacks of online-only gaming are shown by Titanfall failure'. What are the chances that Respawn/EA/Microsoft respond now and take a more pro-active approach to fixing these problems? Whether they're responsible or not, I'd love to see them reach out to the Australian ISPs and work to a solution.
I have a flight going from Seoul to kuala lumpur to melbourne. There's a 9 hour layover in KL. Am I allowed to leave the airport? I didn't try yestterday... but it's come to my attention that for 2 of those 9 hours the Malaysian grand prix is on... 5 minutes taxi away from the airport....
I can say that my Dad had a great time when he went last year (or the year before?). He would be there again this year if it wasn't for the cancer! Not sure if they got their tickets/hotels refunded or not.
But yeah he was really impressed with the setup there. Enjoyed it even more than the good ole days Adelaide Grand Prix.
Crap on both counts. Is that the full version with all the DLC bundled in? It'd save me from having to use my disc copy to play. Actually, I suppose that seeing as I own the LA DLC, it wouldn't make any difference.
Is there a way I can get XBL gold for cheap using my converted Allards? I have about $30 worth. Or if anyone has a 1-month or so freebie I can use to get game cheapness, that'd be swell.
There are some exceptions to this (e.g. in Singapore you can go on "tours" in a bus, etc)
You must go through customs and immigration, and have a valid visa, and then come back through them again. You may also need to check in again meaning you'll need to be there a couple of hours early. I'd speak to someone at the service desk from your airline (probably AirAsia since you're in KL?) and not take advice from someone on the internet.

You could get a visa on arrival when you land in KL, you can leave your luggage at the airport and go out. You can also deposit your hand baggage for a small fee. I did this in Thailand a few years ago when I had a 15 hour layover.
Um, no digital pre-order (so, no pre-load) for Second Son on PSN? Game is listed out on the 26th on the store's game page (must be the digital release)
