I just played Sportsfriends for the first time. I will likely never play it again this year. I think Sportsfriends is my game of the year. More specifically, Pole Riders. Just, pure uncut mechanical fun that I have never experienced before. Simply fantastic.

Destiny getting taken apart in reviews. I did not see that coming. I was only able to play it for a day before I had to pull my apartment apart for my move back to Brisbane, and I still have yet to catch up to where I was in the beta, but I like it.

I honestly thought, that especially with the low number of big titles coming this year that Destiny would have been a shoe-in for GOTY.

What's changed between the alpha and beta- that most people seemed to love- and release? Just too much of the same? Not enough content? 75 on metacritic (compared to TF which is on 86- and has/had awesome multi compared to the little of Destiny MP I've played so far.

I won't get much more of a chance to play it till I'm back in Australia on Wednesday, and back on DSL, and assuming my PS4 survives the trip.

also- I spent $1000 at a US Post Office today. That was a hell of a trip.

Lucky the reviews came out before people were able to buy it.

Lucky about that.

Otherwise it could have gotten ugly.

I think we can all agree that we dodged a bullet.

Wouldn't it be awful to be one of those awful people who hyped a game so mindlessly? So embarrassment.

I don't think much changed by the sounds, more that people experienced the rest of the game and it was basically the beta extrapolated to 20 hours.

Save community TV

We should save community television for the sake of the next Roves and Corinne Grants, writes Shane Dunlop.

So thats two votes against community television.

Just bring back Good News Week plz

Anyway, just wanted to check in to see if there was anywhere to get PS+ for AU cheaply, or if I should just bite the bullet and dig in for a month.

Ever since Sony announced mandatory PS+ for the PS4s online it has not gone on sale. Before that it used to go on sale once or twice a year.

Big surprise, huh?

The closest you can get now is buying discounted PSN cards (when Dick Smith etc have a sale) and using them to pay for it

Any suggested adsl wifi routers? Price isn't really and issue, but under $200 would be nice.

For reference currently using a netgear DG834g, which even though it's ancient it works well, just would like something rock solid. Would kill for a hardwired house.

In the market for a new one myself, been using the same netgear one for about 6 years now lol.

What wireless protocol are your devices? just 802.11n? or do you have some 802.11ac devices?

Is there a go to community/website for aussies selling games? Been a while since I spring cleaned my collection and I'm looking to move a few titles soon. I don't mind ebay but if there's an alternative I'd be interested.

Netgear D6300 and D6200 are both great.

OCAU forums might be good.

Why in the hell is Bing so fucking stupid?

Yep, quite happy with the d6200 for $150.

Lots of fancy features I didn't know existed but now I'm enjoying. Guest wifi!

Sweet, I'll look into that one too.

The most shocking thing to me is that people actually use Bing for anything...Do you have to on surface/windows smartphones or something?

Why would anyone go with an AUS PSN account, ever?

I just picked up a year of US PSN+ for $45 about a week ago. Australian pricing blows.

... Why are you using Bing?
See:
Bing is great for porn and image search. Apparently.
Ever since Google gimped their image search, if you want an unfiltered list of image results Bing is the only option. Not just porn, but any image search that may return a nude is censored. So if you want the full list of results you can't do it. You can add 'nude' to your search, but then it only gives you the nudes. I figured I'd try bing for a day or two for general searches. You can see how that went.

Billion and TP-Link routers are very good. If you're okay to spend 200 bucks, can't go wrong with Billion.

Avoid anything from Belkin.

Personally, when I created my account the AU->US currency was not strong, meaning there was no advantage. By the time it was, I was not buying much and the introductory prices for the AU service were fair.

At this point I keep using my AU account for simplification sake. I rarely buy games when they're new and usually wait until they're sub $10, anyway. While I may end up paying a few dollars more here and there, it really isn't enough to cause me to start an account.

It would probably be a different case if I were starting an account, though.

What's happening Monday?

US is potentially lifting interest rates, they might not, but everyone thinks that they might...which basically amounts to the same thing. There's a Federal Reserve sometime next week and some people are going to jump the gun.

Combine that with the fact that iron ore prices have completely plummeted and that data from China is saying that their growth is really softening...

Yeah...I really fucking hope I'm wrong but people are predicting the dollar to drop quite a bit over the next month or so..

Good news for exporters then.

And if true will be a shock for some folks. they never lived through the period where it was down to 47 or so cents.

Those were rough days being a comic book geek before digital comics.

So I just applied to do a Masters of Public Policy and Management at Melbourne Uni.

I'm pretty sure I'll get in but regardless are there any other current/former Melbourne Uni students in here?

Been with AU PS+ since early 2011 :(

Too many games would disappear if I swapped!

Good news for farmers too! Going to be a tough harvest down here in VIC.

Good old currency speculation.

All n. Basically just want something that will hopefully fix my chromecast streaming issues.

Avoid anything from Belkin.

Yeah we have a slightly newer belkin that I tried to get working, what a piece of crap. Gives a non descript error message when trying to add adsl details.

God, I hope the dollar doesnt go down. I need to send some money over from the US, and not a little amount either...

same here. I heartily recommend xe.com's currency trading thing for sending large amounts between countries. You get pretty good rates (BTW the number people talk about is the mid-market rate, you never, ever get that). You can only do CAN$25k at a time to start with (they are based in Canada) but you can get them to increase.

as in when I was sending money to the US from my Aussie accounts, the mid-market rate would be AUD$1 buys US$0.95, XE would give me around $93.5 compared to what I would get off a CC or using a Bank for forex (more likely around 92.
