Sorry to hear that, reptile. All the best mate.

Watched the second episode of The Genius tonight. Not sure if they're intentionally holding things back more than the first season or whether I'm just noticing it more. If this episodes was in the last season, it seems like they would've explained the alliances more.

And damn, Jinho again figuring out a loophole, holding it back until it suited him then casually mentioning the idea that wins the game for him.

Thanks, Bob. Clearly Ankh wasn't as affected by Salazar's sudden and absolute abandonment of us in favour for threads that worshipped his beard via poor but creepily often posted self shots.

Fuck cancer. Positive vibes sent the way of the reptile clan.

Almost Human is another Fox fuckup. I was wondering why the character relationships seemed to be jumping around a little. Turns out they're airing the episodes out of order. This episode, for example, was supposed to be episode 3. And there's already strong rumors coming out from "people on the set" that it's been canned.

Ah, absolutely not. It's like he never left for me, since I occasionally get bored enough to hit those threads. It's all about the context!

Also, I'll take any excuse to use a Princess Bride quote, whether or not it's accurate or otherwise germane.

(My bad, working retail during Christmas gets you in a mindset where you don't question things that seem weird and take them at face value. ;) )

Fuck a duck Rep, I am sorry as hell to read that.

Work Christmas booze up survived. I'm home and drawing comics and watching team members post photos while they're still there drinking. I'm gonna have fun torturing them tomorrow :)

Fuck cancer, Dad got results back from his surgery, it's moved into the linings of his bladder :(
Fuck man :( I remember how I felt when I heard my old man had a pissweak skin cancer... and that was over basically nothing. Hope you and your family are doing alright, given the news.

Cancer's a right cunt.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. We will find out our options tomorrow, doctor was really shocked when the results came back. He initially thought it was super early and hadn't spread, so the surgery to remove the lump was pushed back 3 weeks to last Thursday. Even after the surgery he was fairly laidback about the whole thing, seemed to think it all went well. Ideally it would be nice if he can keep the bladder, walking around with a bag of piss doesn't sound too aromatically pleasing, but at this point the plan is to make 99% sure it hasn't/can't spread outta that thing.

Also Shaneus keep me updated on the whole Vita thing! Super interested but struggling for spare time lately, with work and private stuff going on.

On a nicer note I got a little bonus for Christmas which was totally unexpected. Since my regional office boss moved on, my direct manager has taken on some of his workload, which means he knows now what everyone gets paid. I get the impression he is a little embarrassed at my pay grade, as he organised for this one off bonus for me out of the blue and has scheduled in a position description/pay grade renegotiation for early next year which is great. Nice to see all the hard work paying off finally.

Also Gaz, you should offer Slacker Backer options! Wrong time of year for the last day of the Kickstarter to end :(

Finally got around to playing a video game. Finding Teddy is quite an infectious little indie adventure game. Style is sublime, mixing delicious pixel art bringing to mind Superbrothers EP with really simple P&C mechanics. Puzzles are really simple aside from requiring a good ear for remembering melodies, music and sound is a huge part of the experience here too.

Game was part of a Groupees bundle back when it was on Greenlight, love it when a dev allows you to get a steamkey down the track :)
Decent romp for a few hours. Very relaxing and the music is fucking fantastic. Will be listening to it for months to come.

Oh also started watching Goodfellas for the first time. Wow. That movie is good. Like insanely good. Will finish it tomorrow and then might save Casino for the weekend.

Exploit's been released, hopefully you had a chance to grab the game on the US store. But don't fear, they've said there's apparently another game (but no announcement which one) that is exploitable as well. Hopefully it'll be on the AU store :)

PS. For some reason, those screens remind me... have you played Proteus at all? TBH I'm kind of over these indie titles that have the same pixelish look to them (and Proteus is a little like that, but with voxels instead). But man, it's amazing if you haven't fired it up before.

Missed out sadly, so I'll wait for the next game :)

Also I've had Proteus for ages, kinda thinking of grabbing the Vita version though!

Damn it's so warm in Cairns, but am glad I'm missing the 40+ heatwave in Melbourne.

Great Barrier Reef tomorrow.

That's terrible, very sorry to hear about it. Best of luck for the treatment.

Baird > Hitachino Nest > Yo-Ho > Hida Takayama > Asahi > Kirin > Sapporo > Orion
(last few are interchangeable I guess)

(Also Death, Kirin isn't bad, it's pretty standard rice lager but damned if it won't be appealing tomorrow)

Thanks for the recommendation. What's the best place to find them?

I think they're pretty fair with how it's being shown, it's just that the alliances were blatantly obvious in the first season. This time around it seems to be a bit more underhanded and somewhat more difficult to present. At least that's my interpretation.

I'm pretty sure there could have been two straights and two winners if Jinho's idea had been applied by both sides, but they'd have to work together to achieve it, so there was no chance it would happen. As shown, it would have left Hongchul as the elimination candidate and Sangmin as the only possible choice for him.

Given the games we have seen lately, they really seem to be pushing the kind of behaviour that we're seeing. Win/lose conditions are defined more clearly from the outset, rather than developing as the game goes on.

Spoilers for next episode were up on Bumdiddles twitter, but seem to have been deleted. If true, next episode will be brutal, to put it lightly.

I heard they were being aired out of order a couple of weeks ago before I started watching. After Firefly, it sounds like they're out to kill this show off before it even began airing too. I'm confident in saying this will be the first and only season.

Hope all goes well, but at least bag of piss wouldn't be the worst thing.

A staff member at my high school, Mr Badley, had one of those bags and it just looked like he had elephantitis of the balls. He was often called 'Badley Bedangles' or 'Dangler the Strangler' based on this humourous assumption.

I'm in Shinjuku at the moment. I've been here for a week and tried 20 odd Japanese beers since I got here. Hitachinos Nest... Is unimpressive as far as I'm concerned. Really not a fan!

Best I've had thus far is Sumida-River. I tried two of their beers and they were both seriously great! Baird is decent (I had the ipa), but there is better to be had like Kamakura and probably more accessibly back home Echigo (loved the red ale).

The goal of the trip is for at least a new local beer everyday.

Short layover in Singapore. Pretty happy I never took the Singapore job offer that I had at one point.. seriously cannot stand the Singaporean English acent!!
I'm chewing through books of 18th century naval history. James Dugan's "The Great Mutiny" is much to be recommended. Georgian military "justice" was some amazing shit.
Ended up reading a newspaper & a bit of Thinking, Fast & Slow.
how long you here for deeks
Almost 3 weeks. Mostly just hang with family time which will be good

It's over. Thank you everyone!!! As a reward the backers will get cool stuff! Also people who didn't back the project will get to not have me hassle everyone about my sodding Kickstarter again! WE'RE ALL WINNERS!

Good luck finding a new beer every day! Unless you go to Popeye's I had trouble finding much beer of note, particularly in Tokyo. If you haven't been there, definitely go (I didn't like the ambience or service much but the selection is unbeatable). At Popeye's I had a tasting menu of, I think a dozen beers, and most of them were pretty unremarkable.

Same goes for the Echigo, I had the (IIRC) red rice lager and found it uninspired. Haven't heard of the Sumida, but Googling shows it to be an offshoot of Asahi perhaps? If it's a brewpub the beer's probably nice because it's brewed locally and so will be fresh.

Which Hitachino Nest did you try? Some of their stuff can be pretty average. I like the White Ale, and had an Espresso Stout recently which was average, and even worse had blobs of gelatin in it.

Can't recall having anything from Kamakura. A lot of Japanese beer is ultra-local, so for instance the Takayama stuff isn't likely to be that easy to find outside of that area. Get stuff from Yo-Ho if you haven't had it. It's in a can but don't let that put you off, it's still pretty good.

Yeah, I was really hoping to launch (and finish) it a week earlier, but that was kind of out of my hands. Oh well, another lesson to be learned for next time.

I'll look into the Slacker Backers thing, though I'm sure Super Blow The Cartridge will be available on my store and at conventions when it's done. I'll be taking the smaller comics off the store then too.

I've been doing pretty well so far on the different beer each day trail. Most of the 711s etc only stock different kinds of Kirin/Asahi/Saporo, but there's still a decent few I haven't tried yet.

You are right about the brews being ultra local though. Sumida-River was in Sumida, Kamakura in Kamakura etc. The Sumida was seriously one of the best weizens I've ever tasted! The Hitachino I tried was the pale ale, and it was interesting but didn't hit the spot for me at all.

Do you use Untappd? I'm not usually an app person, but I'm enjoying chronicling my beer expeditions.

Moved recently. Have a house mate and no airconditioning now. No stripping off for me lol. Fuck single brick ex housing trust houses. Shoddy fucking construction and blatantly inappropriate for most of Australia. Also, fucking living on the plain, I miss my evening breeze on a hill.

Oh well, the price is right and it is only for another 6-12 months. Just need to get through this summer.

Good places stock it. Slow Beer (Richmond), Purvis Beer (Richmond), Purvis Cellars (Surrey Hills), Grape & Grain (Moorabbin). Actually... not 100% sure about Grape & Grain, but the others definitely.

Ouch. I'm on the other side :-\ Do you know any other places maybe around Coburg area?

Oh man, you have my pity! No airconditioning sucks balls. Please tell me you at least have a fan?
My parents have set up a blow up pool so we can stay cool. Plus we have a brick house that doesn't heat up too much...

Yeah I'm writing a big thank you post now that will be sent to backers, and then in a few days everyone will get a backer-only post that has a URL for the digital wallpaper. Then the people who pledged to have a comic / testimonial / guest appearance will get a form to fill out in their email so I can get their details. Once the project is complete (March / April) you'll all get a final chance to update shipping address / email address etc. So all good :)

And thanks for backing it! :)

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
I have to go to fucking Heidelberg at 3pm and I don't fucking drive. Fuck you Melbourne. Of all days to be hot.
