High margin products designed for mass market.
Well yeah, they're cheap products using adjuncts like sugar cane (many Australian ones), rice (many Japanese ones) or corn (most American ones, some Australian ones I think) to replace the more expensive malt, increase alcohol without affecting the taste a lot (sugar, rice and corn don't add a lot of taste to beer compared to malt but the sugars still increase the alcohol).

As an aside, I always thought sake was made like wine, but the process is virtually identical to brewing beer.

Beer snobs make me laugh. You guys are hilarioussssssss.
Beer is no joke, man. Also, the surge of 'craft' beer is really just the resurgence of well-made beer, which sort of fell out of favour 50-80 years ago.

While I was staying with my friend and his family in Japan I got into drinking Shōchū from his father in law. I much prefer it to sake!
Shochu can be pretty good, but I've only tried relatively inexpensive Korean and Japanese stuff. I tried nigorizake at a brewery the last time I was in Japan, it was godawful, but some of their other sake was incredible, and I never considered myself a sake drinker.

The Shochu we were drinking was top shelf stuff, the guy is very particular so it's not surprising I was impressed. Then again, I've not tried too much Sake so I need to do more exploration in that field.

Pfft, AusGAF doesn't need to follow silly fads.

Oh, I thought AusGAF was all bout following the herd.

Could someone please make sure to tell me what I should be doing instead?

Hm.

Lunch at the Royston. Hop Hog back on tap and then another pint of something from the nice Mountain Goat folks over the road. It was dark red and delicious. And beery. Two pint lunch. Yum.

Also, how the fuck does something as absolutely shit and project-destroying as SAP still get put forward as The Solution to anything? LOL'ed at the dude in the meeting who said, quite straight-faced, that every project he'd worked on had blown out and we just had to deal with it. Fuck, like maybe you might consider changing your fucking strategy maybe?

Maybe that was too much beer.

Just found out a friend scammed his way into a high paying job by putting down his second phone number under the contact for his old manager, and giving himself a glowing reference. The old manager had fired him in the first place!

Now he has a project manager position that he is dangerously under qualified for.

I've interviewed a tonne of people and it's always a crapshoot. I doubt that dude got his job on the strength of the reference alone though. He would have had to do a lot of pretty good bullshitting to get to the stage where they're even checking his references to begin with.

He is completely and utterly full of shit. Just lied about everything to get the job.

It's all just a joke to him. Thinks his life is Office Space or something.

In other news, JB is doing $250 Wii U's now: http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/wii-u/wii-u-8gb-skylanders-swap-force-basic-console-pack/695801

Best I could get is 5. (on my first go and then downhill from there)

Obviously NSFW.

I thought it couldn't be all that nsfw so loaded it up while on the train, saw the first one and subsequently closed it.

Well that's one way to get a job I suppose. Just goes to prove hard work/skill really don't mean as much as they should.

So what's the deal with the toggle thingy on rear view mirrors?

If someone behind you has their high beams on, you flick it so it doesn't blind you but you can still see stuff. A lot of cars have auto dimming mirrors now so they don't need the toggle thingy.

Just quoting for truth here.

Wow. I kind of admire his guile though.

For all the praise Japan gets on neogaf, goddam they have some shitty practices

Japanese fishermen have finished killing some of the 250 dolphins trapped in what activists say was the biggest round-up they have witnessed in the last four years.
Sea Shepherd, best known for its anti-whaling activities, said the fishermen first selected 52 dolphins to keep alive for sale to aquariums and other customers.
They included a rare albino calf worth millions whose mother it reports may have committed suicide after being torn apart from her baby in the brutal separation process in Taiji.

Magic 8-ball is advising it could be coming to PS+ IGC sooner rather than later. I'll guess April. Just a hunch though.

In terms of buying a physical copy, $20 at OzGameShop. Postage times have been much better lately, got my board games in a week!

If you can hunt down a copy at EB it should be $30 but I haven't seen any for ages, pre-owned are $30 too.

thanks deal octopus! Might wait on it then, can afford to wait until August.

I didn't vote because I didn't really listen to the radio much last year, not because I'm too oldmanyellsatcloud.jpg just yet. If I did vote it'd mostly just be tracks off Bowie and She and Him's new albums.

Yearly I have no idea what young people listen to post.
Yep. Well, except my daughter, who listens to what I listen to and reckons I have great taste in music :)
yes, I'm aware I said the exact same thing about my parents - though their musical taste didn't ALL suck...

Watched Moon tonight again (5th? 6th? time). Still love it.

Wow I barely recognize any of that music. I'm way out of the loop. Think I might have heard one or two of those top 10.
