Well that's how I landed the casual pos last year in the first place. Person on the team told his partner that they needed someone asap and she told all of her colleagues, one of whom was my friend. Five minute chat on the phone as an "interview" and I started two days later.

Sorry guys I stole the only job going in Tasmania.

Leaving Tassie today and back to Melbourne. Beautiful part of the country. I could definitely move here for a few years. Really pretty and was a great week off.

Back to reality tomorrow for a bit. Debating on where to go next.

Don't congratulate me yet, guys. Nothing's ever official until you sign on the dotted line. I've been in situations before where a job has fallen through at the last minute, so I'm not busting out the champagne just yet.

EDIT: I've basically just given up hope of finding a job in Brisbane.

If Webjet duplicated the charge within ~60–120 secs (varies depending on the bank), the second attempt would've been automatically rejected.

The bank will talk you through it and I've found them to be very good about it (been in a very similar spot a few years ago and had my CC compromised a couple of weeks ago). If you end up needing to open a dispute, the system is on your side.

Thanks for the advice Danoss. I was also really confused about why they'd need authorisation from the bank to refund my money. The bank charged an overdrawing fee to my account this morning, which is a bit of a pain. I might give them a call and find out more about opening a dispute (and hopefully getting that fee reversed).

How are you going these days anyway?

I wouldn't lodge a dispute with the bank just yet. I booked flights through WebJet late last year and early last year and they were fantastic - really prompt communication every time I had to change flights etc. Sucks to hear you're having problems with them but it seems like it is likely to be an honest mistake. They will need card details to issue any refunds though, that's normal.

Just read this - this is good advice. Definitely worth having a chat with your bank regarding the situation. Especially to circumvent any minus withdrawal fees! Those can be nasty! I reckon you should be fine with WebJet as far as getting your money back goes but if worse comes to worse at least you've then touched base with the bank during the process.

There's a fun little arcade above Paddy's Markets, I forget the name though!

As for record stores, there's Red Eye which is across from the QVB (fantastic shop), and Mojo's Record Bar which I'm pretty sure is just a bit further up York ST. As well as that, I guess you've got your records at JB, but I don't think that's what you're asking for.

For comics and stuff, go to Kinokuniya — that place is great. There's also Kings Comics which I think is on Pitt ST.

I've only dealt with the Commonwealth Bank, and they've been nothing short of excellent when something needed to be done. Hopefully whichever bank you're with is the same. I can't imagine there being too much trouble with the overlimit fee associated with an unauthorised charge. They should voluntarily do this, but a minor prompt should be all that's needed if they don't. Hope it's an easy resolution for you.

It's difficult to discuss in any amount of detail without seeming overly negative, which I'd prefer wasn't the case. Currently, varying and unpredictable periods of free time is the most challenging factor to navigate—as would be evidenced by my erratic posting. It feels like a selfish thing to say, but having something resembling a sense of normality helps me to maintain a pleasant environment for my gran.

I'm sorry there's not many positives to draw from my particular situation; it looks better overall from the outside-in. The dietician saw my gran last week and was very pleased with how she is, as was the cardiologist when he saw her yesterday, because she had shown actual improvement in those areas. While her cognitive abilities are noticeably declining, and there's little that can be done about it, at least I've managed to keep her healthy where I can.

Ah of course. Then yeah it makes probability sense to do that but Dongmin seems to take his reputation as trustworthy too seriously to betray a promise like that. Though this season more than the last we've seen him willing to double-cross people and whatnot.

But yeah on Kyunghoon, he was rock solid this week. He's always seemed capable of genius to me he just says something stupid often, out of malice or not I still can't tell. But watching this week's behind the scene videos really captures how much of a character he is lol. I'm glad he's around.

I think it's a little bit the editing. Like they showed her having a rapport with Hyunmin and I'm sure there's more stuff like that going on that we just don't see. But definitely her social play has been very, very dire lately and I agree it's quite baffling.

Although with a Dongmin betrayal, it's usually well-reasoned and not completely self-serving. There's no bones when it the season end nears, because alliances matter far less. He has an excellent mind for games.

I forgot to look, but had the time after this reminder. It looks like it was the editing attempting to misdirect. Sure, a garnet went to waste, but the remaining three went to Hyunmin, Jungmoon and Kyunghoon.

I had a feeling some of it was due to editing, but she's definitely lacking in that area. They do film each episode over ~8 hours, so there's plenty that we're not going to see or may appear differently depending on the context.

Any recommendations? I tried the cherry kriek, really nice but kinda sweet. The delirium tremens is supposed to be the best beer in the world, and I just had 2!

They should have Westvleteren XII. Get that. That's also considered the 'best in the world', but partly because of its scarcity (the one time I saw someone try to import it into the country, they charged over $60 for a 330mL bottle, people were lining up for it).

It's very similar to St Bernardus Abt 12, but has slightly more chocolate notes vs the cherry in the Bernardus.

You better believe I drank a bunch of the Westvleteren XIIs when I had the chance. :D

yeah, that's our dry QLD winter. But it's Ekka People's Day in Brisbane, it always seems to rain on Ekka show day.

It also means that in about a week or two, most of SE QLD will have a cold.

I hope I don't get it as bad as I did on my first year in Taiwan.

When winter switched to spring in 2011: my throat closed up, I got a massive throat infection, leading to mononucleosis. Basically I was in hospital for a week because I couldn't eat, drink, speak, or even swallow my own saliva buildup. Fun times.

I've been pondering the idea of saving up for an Xbox One to buy at the end of this year...do you all reckon it's worth it yet? These are these games I'm interested in:

- Project Spark
- Rare Replay
- Ori and the Blind Forest
- Beyond Eyes
- Sunset Overdrive (maybe)
- Beautiful Katamari (360 game)
- ReCore (eventually)
- Ashen (eventually)
- Cuphead (eventually)

I don't have a PS4 either, but I figured that I could wait a bit longer before getting one, given that I have a PS3 (I never bought the Xbox 360).

Yeah so my childhood friend I guess became a Christian which is fine in itself I guess, the kind that prays before every meal which is fine I guess and talks about being "called" and about hearing god's voice which irritates the shit out of me but which is fine I guess and who told me on parting that my heart is lost and that gods door is always open what with me being a vehement non believer which rather soured the whole holiday thing but which, in the grand scheme of things, is fine I guess.

Now he's saying that he opposes gay marriage on behalf of the spiritual protection of gay people and yo fuck that noise

This sucks. One of the smartest people I know becoming... Fuck, I don't know. Not the friend I grew up with.

You guys are probably the wrong age group, but how was "On her majesty's secret service" receives here? If I've learnt anything in my 4 years of being here it's that Australians will always go nuts about other famous Australians.

OHMSS is one of my favourite Bond movies but that's nothing to do with Lazenby (Connery4Life), that said, for an underwear model? he did a pretty good job.

Sounds like a few smart people I know. Living a godless existence is scary. Nothing guiding our fate and reality? Thinking about that is a fast lane to depression for some.

Religion is a great crutch for people who cannot accept that something is indeterminable and as a result fully accept the god outcome to avoid dealing with an unknown.

Any time he calls it the truth just air quote it and he'll get the picture heh. Like you said, people who are religious but use it as a personal path rather than a 'everybody do like me or you suck' thing are cool.
