he probably just forgot your name.

pro tip: if you recognize someone but you can't remember their name "good to see you again... mate."

Hahha, this is probably the case!

The context was so random.
-He asked me to list some of his garbage on ebay for him. In the US mind you...
-I didn't respond to the email right away.
-He then sent me another follow up 24 hrs later saying "all ok?"
-Told him I would look into it in a few days, just been really busy.
-He then responded with "Cheers, see what you can do mate!"

He must have been drunk, only explanation! Or he really did forget my name...

You should have replied "Nah karn aye, fair suck of the sauce bottle"

I haven't responded yet. So I will say this

Kissed a mod for a tag; liked it
I'm so boring and grown up with the ebay sale. I just bought a new quilt and european pillows haha. Maybe I'll spend the voucher on something silly.

Just grab yourself a volleyball friend

you're already dead.

I wish. Waited an hour in line to check in because the lady said we could even though it was really early. They opened up three lanes around us and people who were twenty slots behind us got served before we did. Then we get to the counter and "sorry lol you can't actually check in yet come back later".

Fuck jet star

So I picked up my glasses today, and apparently they take like a week to get used to. I'm sort of okay with them now, but my depth perception is tripping me out and I feel like I can't get the lenses completely clean. I'm sure I'll get used to it!

Been there. It happens when there's a drastic change in your prescription. They can make a smaller adjustment, but it's not worth it unless the full strength makes you dizzy or something similarly unsafe. Worth the minor discomfort in the short term for the superior vision.

As for lens cleaning, I have a great solution to the problem—aside from not getting the anti-reflective coating that makes them so hard to clean, because it's usually necessary.

  1. Clean your hands.
  2. Rinse the glasses off under the tap to remove any loose dust/dirt.
  3. Put a few drops of dishwashing liquid on your fingertips and apply to both sides of the lenses.
  4. Wet your fingers a little and rub them over the lenses to foam up the detergent and remove any oils or grime. Make sure to clean the rims too, as a lot of crap will get caught between them and the lenses.
  5. Use the detergent still on your fingers to clean the temples/arms. We clean these last to avoid moving any oils left by your skin onto the lenses.
  6. Rinse all the suds off, careful not to touch the lenses.
  7. Now for the important part. Turn the water flow from the tap down to the point where it is a slow and steady stream. Holding the frames so the lens faces are parallel to the running water, slowly move your lenses sideways through the stream. The water should be running over the tops of the frames and down both sides of the lenses. No water droplets should remain on either side of the lenses—this is the goal of this method, the lenses won't need to be wiped and risk streaking or scratching.
  8. You can now wipe the excess liquid from the frames using a tissue, paper towel or cloth. If you did the previous step correctly, there should be no need for wiping the lenses at all.
This way of cleaning my glasses came from a method I learned to clean my motorcycle that is applicable to cars too. Instead of always blasting the hose all over the vehicle to rinse it (which is still fine, just not as the final rinse), you turn the hose down and let the water stream down from the top of the panel to the bottom. There is very little, if any, water droplets left behind when you do this.

It reduces the work required to wipe your vehicle down after you've finished washing and rinsing. It also greatly reduces bead marks from the water sitting there before you can wipe it off. So even those that don't wear glasses can get some use from this!

Unfortunately, it's not the best if you aren't somewhere you can precisely rinse your glasses off, but it's great for a lot of situations. Before anyone mentions contacts, which are great, they've got nothing on glasses if you've got an astigmatism—the clarity just isn't the same.

Just don't forget to enter the number sequence into the computer at the scheduled interval.

On that topic of glasses, has anyone had (or knows someone who had) laser eye surgery? A friend highly recommended it to me last night, and it would be nice to lose the glasses.

Yes this. I also have it. PSN deets?

Side note: $30 PSN cards are 20% off at Coles today, made my PS+ sub a bit cheaper.

Yeah I stocked up on cards too :)

I've got quite a few friends who got it done, they were/are over the moon about it.

If I could justify it financially I'd do it in a heartbeat! Last I checked 5 years ago it was like $2700 or something.

My uncle has and a couple of people I've worked with have too. It's hard to say where it's at now, because it's improving all the time. The people I know had theirs done like 7+ years ago and they still needed glasses in some situations, like reading or driving at night. They all say it's the best thing they've done and they wish they'd done it sooner.

Last I heard about a family member that had their cataracts done, they replaced the lens in her eye with a multi-focal lens so she can focus at different distances and glasses wouldn't be required where they would have previously. Not that long ago, this technology just wasn't available.

Do you know if they used PRK or LASIK?
My friend recommended PRK even though its a bit more uncomfortable in healing, because you get a full new cornea.

While this wasn't directed at me, I'll still answer it for those that I know.

Of the people I've known to have had the surgery, there has been a mixture of what I can only assume were PRK and LASIK. The problem is that while LASIK is one of a few different methods of laser eye surgery, it seems to also be a colloquial term. Some of the names being similar doesn't help: LASIK, LASEK, Epi-LASIK, PRK aka ASLA.

The only way I determined that there was a difference was because some people have told me the recovery time was long-ish, they had to wear special goggles/glasses (maybe some gloves too, not too sure on this) to prevent them from scratching their itchy, healing eyes in their sleep for a while and it was uncomfortable but worth it. Others have said they recovered rather quickly and their experience wasn't really like what the other people told me.

Their response has been the same: totally worth it.

One of my colleagues in Taiwan got it done. It cost her around NT$40000 (AU$1730) and she said it was worth every penny. My girlfriend's wanting to get it done, and I'll refer her to the same person who did it for my co-worker.

I don't need glasses so I don't know anything about this though.

Vita collecting in Australia is a lot of fun, so many good games for under 30 dollars. And in 5 years it'll triple in value and I can resell it all for a profit. mwahahah!

Only heard of LASIK, I'll ask around though as not everyone went into that detail.

Ooh. Do they work with self-checkout? I wonder if I can use staff discount to get an extra little bit off them...

NFI. They did get auto-validated at the register when I paid, checkout person didn't have to do anything, just scanned it and it pinged a server somewhere to activate the card.

I still have a few PC games boxes from the 90s.

None are in particularly great quality and they're mostly for nostalgia, but you never know.

My boxed PC software and games from the '90s are mostly Disney-related, like Lion King Activity Centre or Toy Story Animated Storybook.
