OMG I am here in Sydney about to go home. Partner and I managed to come into the city today despite waling up at 12pm. Left at 1, and still managed to do everything I wanted to.

Hit JB HIFI and got the adapter, the new Animal Crossing game on Wii U, all the Animal Crossing amiibo, another season of DBZ, and some books from Kinokuniya.

I think we're going to go up every other week or so now. The food and atmosphere is just too good. Always gotta go to the British Lolly Shop on the harbour.

And now it's time to head home!

that sounds wonderful!

I also went to this little cafe near Circular Quay called Beans-n2-Cream that uses nitrogen to cool drinks and make gelato. It was really cool.

Have you ever been to N2 Gelato near Chinatown? Same thing, but with ice creams. Amazing.

Yeah, it was a super nice worthwhile day. Being able to chill to music on the way up and back makes the trips even better.

We used to go to the arcade in Market City too but it's way too busy. Love playing Wangan when We can though.

Oh no I haven't! I didn't know there was more than one. The one near the Quay did the ice cream gelato thing too but I don't think that was the focus - it was also just a general cafe. I'll go to the one near China Town next time!

Holy shit, 960GB SSD for $310 posted!
480GB SSD is $156 posted, insane prices.

I remember paying around the equivalent of AU$380-400 (42% of my laptop's original cost) for my Crucial M500 480GB back in December 2013. I didn't mind paying that price at all, as it essentially reinvented my laptop and future-proofed it (in all probability) until the point of critical hardware failure.

I've always been tempted to upgrade it to a 1TB SSD, but with the traditional prices for those capacities it'd be best just to buy a new laptop. But if the above prices are a glimpse of the future then I'll definitely be down for upgrading.

The culture wars are defined by people that read news.com.au, protest at Reclaim Australia rallies and like Guy Fieri against those that read the Guardian, protest against Reclaim Australia rallies and like Anthony Bourdain.

It's that simple.

Speaking of culture wars, Mwave have some great prices on Roccat mice.

Kone XTD $59 http://www.mwave.com.au/product/roccat-kone-xtd-laser-gaming-mouse-ab47529

Kone+ $59 http://www.mwave.com.au/product/roccat-kone-laser-gaming-mouse-aa25942

Kone pure $49 in various modern imperialistic colours
http://www.mwave.com.au/product/roccat-kone-pure-military-optical-gaming-mouse-camo-charge-ab57406

Plus some other stuff but the landing pages for the deal doesn't show the deal price so you have to click through to the product page to see http://www.mwave.com.au/catalog/roccatgamersdeal2015

The shipping probably kills it if you're outside Sydney though.

Honestly I can't recommend the kone+ enough, it's the best shaped mouse that I've ever used. Especially if you use a palm grip, the 'hump' of the mouse backs right up into your palm. I'm not sure about the XTD but it looks very similar to the [+].

Also, can anyone look at the power socket on their Playstation TV and see if it's the same as the PSP-1000? From what I've read it sounds like it is, and if that's the case I can just buy an eBay one (no PSU) for super cheap.

From the description, the XTD is the same shape as the Kone + but is now capable of murder:

"To build the mighty ROCCAT™ KONE XTD – Max Customization Gaming Mouse, our ROCCAT™ Scientists increased the already formidable capabilities of the legendary Kone[+] – while keeping the legendary design of the Kone[+] 100% intact. The result? A supreme gaming weapon – custom-built for the most battle-hardened fighters – that will thrill Kone[+] fans worldwide."

Sounds formidable if you're a battle-hardened fighter, but I wonder if it would suit pudgy people like me? Where are the fat gamer mice anyway?

"Our ROCCAT Kone Smoker[+] comes equipped with hard coded PornHub button, a sick note generator, and will call your mother for you every six months using messages generated from your voice chat."

I guess that's pretty unrealistic though, most gamers are super fit and active.

Having said that, I might bite on one of those keyboards. My current one isn't fully backlit.

I loved my + until it got the scroll wheel issue.

I grabbed the XTD headset, I broke my Logitech Gwhatevers last night and at $59 + shipping I'm OK with taking a punt. I like roccat

I swear if you so much as fart in the same room as a Roccat mouse, you risk destroying the scroll wheel/middle mouse button. I even had one of their mouse pads and it curled up at every corner until it was constantly raised in the centre, like a small, shitty tent.

I've had two of their Sota pads and both had this exact same issue. I still use the second (which is a replacement), and it's annoying, but I'm too lazy and cheap to replace it. Besides that, I really liked the pad.

The PSTV has its own unique power cable that goes from the unit to the AC adapter, but after that you can use a standard figure 8 cable from any region to plug it into the wall. I have one but remember it's not the same cable as the Vita-1000 (and it's not the same as the 2000 either).

From what I've seen it's not entirely unique, and some people have said it's the same size as the PSP (not Vita) cable. I've jumped in on this particular PSTV given it's only $40 shipped, so we'll see how I go with power stuff.

Oh right, I just saw the -1000 and assumed Vita since it's been so long since the PSP. It might be the same, but I only every owned a PSP-2000.

I got jack of Windows 7 yesterday morning for some reason. Decided to install Windows 10. Super easy transition. Now I can stream my Xbone to my PC, which I guess is cool?

My +'s left click died but it still lasted a good 2-3 years, more of an issue with my desktop's usb ports though. Also killed my keyboard. I would buy another one but my mionix avior is doing me well enough for now, jumping back on the train as soon this one kicks the bucket though.

So, I've been packing away my non-used (read: last-gen) consoles in their original boxes and found:
* An unopened platinum copy of Assassin's Creed for PS3, in the PS3 box.
* A completely unused, brand-new 360 controller that came with my 360 Slim.

Guess I'm right for controllers for a while! Anyone want either an HD-DVD drive (for 360, also works for PC and also brand new) and a bunch of movies?

I bought the HD-DVD add-on for the 360 after it was announced that the major studios were going to Blu-ray.

It was cut to about a quarter of the original price and ezydvd had hundreds of HD-DVDs for $2-$10

JB also stocked HD-DVDs back in 2007 or so.

What was the catalyst for buying the HD-DVD drive, if you don't mind me asking?
It was damn cheap, and the movies were pretty cheap, too (less than $10AU shipped, sometimes even down to $5). At the time I didn't have a PS3 either and shitty internet so it was my only HD movie outlet. I actually have two (or maybe three?) of the drives in case one broke on me, but I didn't anticipate me not giving a shit before they kicked the bucket.

Fair enough, I guess if you knew its days were numbered but it was very cheap it makes sense. Weren't you worried that you might end up with discs but no way to eventually play them if your drive broke though?

It's interesting because I came at it from the opposite angle: HD movies were probably more important to me at the last gen console launch window than the games were, so I was very careful about considering which format was going to win out, and then that informed which console I bought.

I really didn't want to end up with two sets of HD discs and having to have multiple players hooked up in order to watch them. There was also the consideration that with HD-DVD always headed to an early grave, there was a serious threat of players eventually dying out too, leaving you with coasters. Buying multiple players seems like a way around that, but then the price advantage of HD-DVD goes away too... except for the absolute fire sales at the end, but I wasn't prepared to wait a few years without HD movies for that.

What HD-DVD movies do you have Shaneus?

Eh, I bought most of them for $2-$3, so I didn't really care. I also had a few Blu-rays at that point and anything new, I bought on Blu-ray. Was just a good way to get some movie packs, like Bourne, Oceans and about half of the Harry Potter films, for next to nothing.

AFAIK the drive still works, I found it recently so I could hook it up to my Windows 10 PC and see what happens.

It'd be cool if it worked with the new Xbox One backwards compatibility update.

I've been looking on flatmates.com.au, but I thought I'd put a word out here - any Canberra-gaffers or their friends looking for a housemate? Preferably on the north Canberra side, around the $150 - $200 dollar mark. You'd be helping out a friendly chap who is quiet and clean, and we can have a blast doing some multiplayer nights. If you can help PM me.

I've finally managed to land a new gig in Canberra, kicker is I start on Monday. So I need to find a place and move from Victoria in less than a week.

Thanks guys.

Have you played it much? I was impressed at first, but became progressively less impressed as the game went on. I finished Rise Against the Empire and played a bit of Twilight of the Republic... but couldn't be bothered to finish it. For eg, Tatooine looks pretty cool when you first land in it, but it doesn't take long before you find all the invisible walls and the wonder kinda fades away.

I remember reading an article saying Infinity 3 would be a better *game* than Lego Dimensions, but I can't really agree. Not that Dimensions is amazing, but I think splitting the levels into open world exploration based areas and linear campaigns allows both to be better. Rise Against the Empire feels like a tiny MMO. The combat is better in Infinity, but it's still not great, and it feels like the game is focused around it. Dimensions is at least based around (admittedly easy) puzzles which I think it's better at.

I think Infinity 3 would suit sort of pre teen kids who are just getting a handle on combat and camera control and such, but I don't think there's much there for *cringe* "experienced gamers".

That is a decent bundle! Anyone know if I can replace foreign copies in my Steam account with valid ones? I bought Grid 2 via VPN and when I've tried to buy it again via the Steam store it won't let me :(
