AusGAF 11 - Twice the price, a year late but still moving forward

Infinity 2.0 was so, so bad. One of the few games that I just couldn't force myself to play.

That is a decent bundle! Anyone know if I can replace foreign copies in my Steam account with valid ones? I bought Grid 2 via VPN and when I've tried to buy it again via the Steam store it won't let me :(

Depends if it has a different Steam ID. If it's the one ID code then you will need support to remove it from your account.

Have you played it much? I was impressed at first, but became progressively less impressed as the game went on. I finished Rise Against the Empire and played a bit of Twilight of the Republic... but couldn't be bothered to finish it. For eg, Tatooine looks pretty cool when you first land in it, but it doesn't take long before you find all the invisible walls and the wonder kinda fades away.

I remember reading an article saying Infinity 3 would be a better *game* than Lego Dimensions, but I can't really agree. Not that Dimensions is amazing, but I think splitting the levels into open world exploration based areas and linear campaigns allows both to be better. Rise Against the Empire feels like a tiny MMO. The combat is better in Infinity, but it's still not great, and it feels like the game is focused around it. Dimensions is at least based around (admittedly easy) puzzles which I think it's better at.

I think Infinity 3 would suit sort of pre teen kids who are just getting a handle on combat and camera control and such, but I don't think there's much there for *cringe* "experienced gamers".

I'm playing for reference rather than my own fun but it seems fine for a kids game though I can't really see the appeal of the Toy Box. It's not that different from a certain PS2 platformer series, particularly numbers 2 and 3. Gaz's review bot reckons it will sell well.

Any AusGAFers going to try the Rainbow 6 Siege open beta? You can download it now and the servers go live tomorrow (although if you were in the closed beta you can get in now).

I tried the closed beta on PS4 and was impressed; although it was a little rough around the edges, the guns felt really heavy and dangerous, and were almost intimidating to fire. I really liked that. It's worth checking out if you like a slightly slower paced shooter with a bit of tension thrown in. Also check out the "Terrorist Hunt" mode (players vs AI), it's way better than the MP in my opinion.

Some older man at BWS randomly approached me and asked "Do you like Xbox?" It was so out of the blue and so intimidating that it felt like he wanted to start a fight. Turned out he just wanted to know if I'd played the new Tomb Raider, cos he wanrs to know if he should buy it, but I haven't played it. .

was p. worried that was gonna be a console warrior real life thing for a hot second there

I was afraid of that too. I was just like "um yes, I own an Xbox..." I don't wanna get verbally abused over video games at the bottle-o IRL. D:

Anything to do in Sydney? Going there for a week for work. Already went to The Star casino and Pure Platinum last time. Already saw Opera House and Harbor bridge (zzzzzzzz).

Last I've heard, Lucian is hunkered down at her work.

Ed: my parents are up in the thick of it as well, so it's a pretty tense time.

Always gotta recommend Circular Quay. They got some nice places to eat down there, IMAX theatre, that stuff.

Hi guys. I'm safe at my work like they said. Fire missed my house thankfully but some houses on the other side of the road weren't so lucky. Had to leave 2 of the cats behind because they weren't cooperative in the 5 minutes we had to pack up and gtfo when the wind turned and the town went black.

Scariest shit of my life being stuck on a road in gridlock with flames flaring up to my sides. I'm gonna have a long long cry when I eventually get home.

I heard some stuff on The Project saying that there have been unconfirmed reports of fatalities in the Barossa fires =[

Good to hear you're ok Lucian.

2 confirmed all over and 1 unconfirmed near my town. Probably gonna go up as well. As well as the poor animals ;__;

So much crop destroyed. Eerie driving home in the dark to these haystacks glowing red.

Mum and I are home safe now. I have a headache and the rest of my body is aching. Power's still out.

This has been far too stressful a day on my day off lol.

I was there for a few hours yesterday. Sydney truly is Australia's
Vagina
It's just full of
douches
. Obvi, there was one less when I left.

Hot as fuck, then wind that's cold as fuck, then hot as fuck, then cold as fuck. Aircon really strong in here, barely functional there. I did go into a comic store and sweated, why? I don't read comics. I did go into a few JB's and sweated. Why? They have them in Brisbane. I did go into Kinokuniya and sweated a bit. They have a Grill'd directly underneath it- that would be dangerous- for the books. Someone asked me for change. I told him I'm from Neogaf and we don't tip in Australia. And I walked a lot despite the heat since my appointment took less than 20 minutes out of the 5 hours I had in town. So I walked down to Circular Quay, sweated a bit more, had some gelatissimo and then walked back, still sweaty.
My legs today feel like someone had jammed them in a dough break (it's basically a device with adjustable mechanical rolling pins used in bakeries).

That airport train you guys recommended was champion, though.

I also got to see the difference between Qantas and Jetstar in the same day since I flew down in the morning on Qantas- a lot of people in suits, slightly older crowd. Jetstar on the way back: vinyl seats straight out of a 1980s taxi, much younger crew and passengers, hardly any suits, much, much shittier terminal than Qantas (no nice shops and almost exclusively fast food outlets), and lots of people dressed as if they're going to the beach. My pilot's name was Steve Austin. He didn't crash and get made better, stronger, faster.

If I'd had more time I would have done the zoo but since my appointment was slap bang in the middle of my time there, I elected to sweat it out.

What's been happening AusGAF? My life seems to have gone back to normal after 2 years of chaos. I might even post here on occasion for shits and giggles?

There's a name I haven't heard for a while. Did you end up buying a place in Newtown? Is that what the chaos was about, and I shouldn't have brought it up?

Welcome back, Mar! And glad you're OK, lucian!

Not a lot to report from my side of the world. I have been head down on the next issue of Rose, which still isn't done, and it's killing me. In better news, Blow The Cartridge #5 arrived yesterday, and I'm really looking forward to sending out copies to all the Kickstarter and Patreon backers <3

Oh! I got LEGO:

Photo time now I have power back!

This was 2 hours before evac. Looked like a normal grass fire. Nothing to be concerned about...

DLWrvrC.jpg

1 hour before evac. We were beginning to get a bit nervous. Packed a bit of water and food just in case...
The smoke was everywhere on evac. Couldnt even see my fences or sheds. It was so thick the sun went out.

These I found on facebook. Fires in the first pic are the ones I was driving away from. They were less than 20 metres away from my car ;__;
2nd pic was the smoke storm I got to drive through. Subsequently my black car is now a nice ash white lol.

This was a side road I stopped on while trying to get home. All the light spots are either spot fires or wooden posts/ trees cooking themselves.

I went through some silent hill shit yo. And TDM was on the phone with me for most of it. So thank you to him for keeping me
relatively
sane :)
