Mostly because I believe i'm dead boring

You're wrong about this you know, and you're actually kind of the worst judge of how interesting or not other people might find you, because you're the only person in the world on your side of it. *I* find chatting to you here and in Steam interesting, so, bam, wrong, and you have to accept my testimony because you can't possibly know what it's like to be someone else and talk to you. You're not going to have any fun lengthy conversations without sharing a bit of yourself. So. Try it imo. You're not going to connect with everyone, or even more than half of everyone. Just keep at it, practice makes the world of difference.

In your day to day conversations do you guys talk about video games much?

I have a $100 bet with a friend of mine. He believes that in the next 9 years there won't be another console generation. I think he's wrong. Who do you think will win? I'm feeling pretty confident.

lol nope, 0%. Only time I talk about video games is when I'm telling my wife I want to buy one, or my son is begging to play one but hasn't been nice enough that day to play it.

Also is that no new generation until 2024? If so Nintendo says "Hi" to your friend.

Getting kind of sick of my avatar. You guys probably know me better than everyone else on this forum, suggest new ones.
MS paint selfie!

Talking about myself is going to be impossible, Mostly because I believe i'm dead boring and kinda hate myself.

There's nothing to really talk about, Some games.. Games .. Work .. I dunno, Dumb shit like that.

It's why I never try and bring myself up in a conversation, I can't see it going well!

You can talk about music too! Or the weather, or your stupid co-workers, or that annoyingly loud kid that was in the supermarket. Just random stories about things that happen around you.

Same.

Learning to let go of that hilarious/poignant thing you thought of but couldn't say because people were talking and the conversation moved on and your thing is no longer relevant was hard work for me.
Yeah I lose the tempo of the conversation and basically just listen and soak it up.

BEST '80S MOVIE THEY SHOULD TOTALLY REMAKE GO
=

Robocop, Footloose, Annie, Ghostbusters, Arthur, Karate Kid, Fame, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Clash of the Titans, Endless Love, Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan, Conan the Barbarian, Poltergeist, National Lampoon's Vacation, Red Dawn, Supergirl, Teen Wolf, About Last Night.

Is there actually one of the above that's better than the original (hard for the ones that have yet to be released like Vacation, Ghostbusters or the new TV Supergirl)?
I think we're about 10 years away from The Blues Brothers remake where Jake and Elwood are Dubstep DJ's.

Yep, I feel like it's in the bag. I even stipulated if Nintendo releases a new console and he was fine with it. He's convinced this is the last console generation EVER. Crazy. He believes in the "PC that does everything in the home" future.

Wow, there was a GAF thread from a guy trying to make the exact same argument for the exact same reason just recently. Trying to find it. Failing.

There will be a market for a 'console' for the foreseeable future, but the differentiation between platforms will continue to reduce. For the most part anyway. Nintendo stand outside that though and just do their own thing.

PC is the ultimate solution however. :>

Even as someone who often enjoys troubleshooting his PC I don't understand the attitude that the PC is superior in every way. It's superior in almost every way, it just so happens that price and convenience are somewhat important to people.

How bloody rude. Cadbury shrinking the size of their chocolates, again, and then having the gall to say its instead of raising prices, when they are continually raising prices.

Price and convenience are actually two factors that have me mostly side with the PC :)

How many more reductions until they reintroduce the size from 10 years ago as a premium product?

Think about this. If some one said the above stuff to you in person, how would you respond?

Someone you know ( a wwork colleague) and some one you've just met at a social gathering for the first time.

Because of rising demand cocoa prices have been rising. Most of this new demand is coming from China.

McDonalds selling tubs of special sauce (big mac) for a limited time. I got some funny looks when I ordered 20 of the buggers by themselves as I stopped in the drive-thru on the way home :). Damn I love that stuff, now I can use it on my own creations at home.

Am I a fool for thinking that for once Nintendo will be nice to us and update the Club Nintendo rewards with game downloads, or at least something nice.

Deals octopus, are there any deals going on Xbox One controllers, either the regular or windows variant?

Buddy is looking out for one but doesn't want to buy at full price.

Board games. When monopoly is just too much fun and the rules aren't confusing enough and the games are too short.

Also, stop killing trees. How much of that board is recycled?

Also expansions for board games? What's next, dlc? Buy the new horse piece and get 5 extra hotel pieces!

Do I want to buy all the race expansions for Small World? I'm thinking yes
They do add a bunch of colour to the game. It's still the same game though, so it all depends on how much you like Small World :)

Played King of New York for the first time last night. Was fun.

Also, Monopoly is shit.

Huh hasn't been a deal in ages. I think Amazon had them for around $55 posted at Christmas. Dick Smith used to do great deals too but they haven't had one of those $15 off deals in ages that applies to more than 7 items in their store.

Gaming wise all I have played over the past few months is Don Bradman Cricket, NBA 2K!5, FIFA 15 and Geometry Wars 3 all on pc via Steam.

How did don bradman end up?? I remember the early vids seemed good, but the price put me off it when it first came out :(

It's different to your traditional cricket video game, using the analog sticks to play shots instead of buttons. I think Big Ant did a good job, I have had a lot of moments of frustration (poor shot selection costing me dearly lol) and moments of triumph (being able to score 350 in an innings with my created player in career mode).

There are a few silly moments, like sometimes the fielders seem to be able to run like Usain Bolt and sprint really fast to where the ball is likely to land meanwhile the shot you hit seems to just float in air. It's hard to explain without seeing it in motion, but the fielders can be super human at times and reach balls you wouldn't think possible.

I am not a true out and out cricket fan in real life (don't follow it all year round every year - sometimes the Australian summer is more than enough cricket for me lol), but it does the job for the casual cricket fan.

Yep.

I've only met you a few times Evlcookie but I think you are more interesting than a lot of people I've met.

You've got the looks too, just work on that personality which doesn't need to be changed it just needs some fine-tuning - be the person you are already without those negative thoughts about yourself and just keep practicing those social skills by taking initiative, putting yourself out there, going out of your comfort zone occasionally.

Of course it's not easy breaking out of your shell, I was in your situation like three years ago for example, and the years leading up to that were definitely a grind.

They might agree, They might not. I have a very low opinion of myself which is where all of the issues really stem from I would believe.

I was in a similar spot a few years ago, it got to a point where I just realised I didn't care and I was ok with that. Maybe you'll reach that point, maybe not, just remember things take practice, conversational skills included.

I completely change when I start drinking though.

Where do I express my general sense of malcontent that Steam is simultaneously charging us inflated prices for games but also, remember the prices are still in USD. We're getting double fucked with this weak ass currency diving into fucking oblivion. Some LOTR game from 2011 would currently cost me $97 AUD to buy.

This is scream into a pillow kind of rage, and I need to get it out. LET ME FUCKING GET IT OUT

Evlcookie I can very much relate. I used to hate, hate, HAAAAATE myself and the thought of socialising sent cold shivers down my spine. Ugh, who the fuck would want to waste their time talking to me? I'm a dumb, fat, video game loser.

And people would try (like we have here) to turn that around, and they had great advice (like we have here), but nothing would actually work - because I couldn't make the mental leap that I was worth anything. The change had to come from within, to give myself permission to a) take a compliment and b) engage with people. Something had to change.

For me it was building a career in the games industry. Working my way into the biz gave me self confidence and from that I learned how to interact with people*. Maybe it'll be something else for you. Maybe it'll be a Smash Bros Tournament victory. Maybe it'll be amassing Amiibo. Maybe it'll be getting drunk at board game meetings. Maybe it'll be playing every retro game ever at PAX. Who knows!

Keep at it, man. AusGAF People are BestGAF People.

(*As the history books showed my self confidence turned into unbelievable arrogance, but that's what too much success does to a young angry man sometimes)

I still am a dumb fat video game loser

Thinking of selling some of my old video games I'm never going to touch again. Mainly going to be GameCube/Wii/DS stuff. I'll put a list together and put it up for you guys before selling things on eBay.

I've got the Metroid Prime Trilogy Steelbook (US version) thing. The price has probably dropped since the digital release but if I can get $50 out of it I'll be happy.

Awesome, I'm building up a Gamecube & Wii collection, so I'd be super interested to see what you've got!
