I wouldn't mind being a figurehead mod.

I've often thought about the idea of GAF having MOD's who only hold power over certain smaller communities, like an AusGAF mod, a GSL/SC2 mod.

obv. only works for communities that rack up 20k+ threads

Wait really? Or is this choc hyperbole and it was just a wave splashing? :D
The Barwon River in Geelong has as well... down near Belmont (for those who know the area). But it usually does under heavy rains so it's not exactly news.

I'm down near Belmont ways, but I had no idea that happened. Late pass.
It's just the usual... the road near the rowing place flooded (as well as the rowing club itself, naturally) and was blocked off. Had to find an alternate route to get back to Shannon Ave :/

Ahh. I know where you mean. Haven't had any need to go into Belmont/Geelong recently. At least the rowing equipment wouldn't be ruined when it does get flooded, or I'd expect that to be the case for the most part.

Also, I barely post in here, but people can add me on steam if they want. My id is the TheFuuury, or just go into AusGAF and look for Mutiny! Mainly play L4D2 and on occasion Killing Floor and Goldeneye Source. Will probably give TF2 another go once I download some massive update.

I've only ventured in there once or twice and left immediately haha. I may just do that though. What else could I possibly do on a Saturday night? That doesn't need answering.

Oi, does any here use FanFooty? More specifically, FanFooty's team viewer which allows you to view your AFL Dream Team scores live?

Edit: omg I killed ausgaf

I love/am horrified by Birthday Skeleton.

I'm keen to play ilomilo and and trawling for opinions on the game.

It's an alright game. Reminds me of Kula World, except instead of collecting all the fruit, you're making ilo and milo dance together. There's unskippable bits (in the demo) which pissed me off, but the visuals and cutesyness are amazing.

Happy Birthday Syth! I didn't know you were HolyCheck.

I use it for supercoach scores as it's seems to be the only site that does in game updates and it updates quicker then the hs site at times for the quarter time scores

For those that care, the Australian Open is coming round this year, and to help the Queensland Floods, some of the players are playing a charity match which is livestreamed here. It's a lighthearted game, so it should be good and funny :D

Unless there's a Australian Open thread already, or mentioned in the QLD thread in OT, then yeah. Should be good.

It's 1:30AM and I just awoke from sleep with the sunburn burning. First time my chest and back have been sunburnt too since I used to wear a singlet while out in the sun.

I thought some aussie hacked gaf and the entire AU IP range got banned.

I could be wrong though. Should be some archival thread about it i would imagine.
I always thought the reason that the admins allowed AusGAF to have its own little community was to keep an eye on us.

Isn't a little wierd that there's no other country sub-community, like German or French GAF? I think there is more of them posting on here than Australians.

I wonder if we are a tad bit too insular having our own little community to discuss local events?

Pre AusGAF thread, Aussie gaming news used to fall off the front page pretty quickly causing a lot of people to miss news that was potentially a big deal to a small number of people. Unless that thread veered into talking about beer which would keep it on the front page for longer.

The UK, US and Japan have enough followers that any decent news will have a multipage thread pretty quickly. They have their own bargain threads too, and Japan has weekly sales threads which are pretty much an institution. AusGAF was born out of a bargain thread. Started by Cheesy iirc.

Threads do get started for big news that the wider community might be interested in. Censorship and so forth.

If it weren't for beer discussion, there would be people overseas who wouldn't be aware of the flood disaster!

It's really eerie coming to work in Brisbane today. Taking the train over the river, lots of the riverside walkways are still flooded and every street is very dirty. No surprise, but it still sends chills up your spine.

Is it really empty still? I haven't really heard much about the CBD, everything on TV has been reporters wandering through suburban homes.

The CBD didn't cop much flooding overall. Some buildings that are the in the very low areas. 95% of the CBD is back and operational. Its a little quiet as there aren't many at the shops and what not, but just about everyone will be back at work today.

Now wednesday, the place was eerily quiet. I came and did a half days work, and it was just empty. Some Cafe's / restaurants were open, with a few people there (presumably tourists stuck here). But it's the first time i've seen ALL the shops closed during the day. was weird.

CBD is a congested mess of council buses, clean-up trucks and TV news crews. Looks like maybe 3/4 of the workforce is back to work.

Don't you work in a Net Cafe or something in the city?

Anyway, the bunkers been sold! i had no idea they were even in trouble, but yeah, they folded about 2 months ago.

So bizzare!

Friend of mine used to work in a net cafe in the mall. Can't remember what it was called, but you had to go up some stairs to get to it.

Oh i know the one you mean, Cyber Room. Next to the old Ceasers night club, on the JB side of the mall?

It's gone too.

The local net Cafe's, if they were ever going to survive, needed to promote more internet cafe competition. ie. one cafe vs another sort of thing. Giving people a reason to go there other than "mum doesn't see me leet skillz, so won't let me play at home".

Oh and they needed to not reak (sp?) of B.O.

Seriously, the bunker was an affront to the senses to go into.

Cyber Room was my old stomping ground. The amount of money I spent there playing BF1942/Desert Combat, I could have put into a better PC. Went by the handle of ‘Pussywillow’ (taken from Ned Flanders’ line in this classic episode) as it was one of the few FPS’s I was competent at competitively and it was delightful to hear comments yelled out by strangers like "Fie on you, Pussywillow!” or more bluntly - "Fuck you, Pussywillow" after racking up a string of kills.

It was a funny place back in the heyday - you’d get a lot of homeless guys come in and watch porn and the general LAN-party feel to the place when it was at its peak can’t be matched.

Then WoW happened.
