AusGAF 2.0 - Twice the price, a year late but still moving forward

Raskulls is half price! Only 400 Allards! I'm sure everybody already owns it but I had forgotten all about it (and subsequently the elegant sounding Machine Gun Jetpack). Loved Age of Zombies and Fruit Ninja.

Edit: Also I see a shiny 'New Thread' button on the forum. Maybe I should ask people what they think of Donkey Kong Country.

Hmm, the Double Down burger is actually okay. Of course, I ate it without bacon so I don't really know its authentic taste.

Prefer it over actual KFC chicken pieces which are horrid.
I had it.

It was tasty.

I justified the indulgence by trying the 'sweet potato fries' but I doubt that made any improvement. Will never eat again.

Also:

Take that as the date and invite for BrisGAF 3DS.

Nice touch with the Forever Alones, Bern.

Yay! My bundle of games from Play-Asia has arrived.

Lego Star Wars 3D
Contra 4
Pokemon White

OH YEAH!

EDIT:

Can I get DHL to drop a parcel off at the house with specific instructions if I'm not there (in this case, pushing the package through the bars of an open window)?

I can maybe understand NT Forever Alone, but there are quite a few TasGAFs (myself used to be included) and there's shitloads of MelbGAF! What's the excuse? That Melbourne really is that shitty to get around?

They need a signature, mate.

Maybe VicGAF have their own friends so they don't need to band together to feel like they have an existence in the world

I'm just Jelly, someone organise Melb/GaylongGAF meetup. Maybe in June sometime?

Farmer Wants a Wife is mindnumbing. Even My Kitchen Rulez is bearable compared to that tripe. And my gf wonders why I don't watch TV with her.

Monday to Thursday? We can't do Fridays or Saturdays? That would be my preferred choice. School nights just aren't good for a meat-up and drink-up.

Failing that, I'll be up for most anything as long as my forum rival, Fredescu, is there. I need to meet the person who destroys my points in a single line of text.

Also, that map was hilarious.

I'm guessing it's only monday to thursdays since that's when I will be up in NSW. I have no issues with a real sydgaf meetup on a friday or saturday though. I'm not even sydgaf!

Yeah, I tried leaving a very polite note for Fedex one time and it didn't work.
I just called up DHL Australia and the lady there told me that I as long as I leave a note that's signed and dated, it should be fine. I have a window I leave open that has bars on it (so nobody could climb through).

BSS will most likely join us too. I'll hassle him about it tomorrow.

Since the AFL |OT| is moving at a snail's pace, thought I'll also post it here:

"Got a promo code for my DT app to give away. First to PM me gets it!"

Go with i5 2500K and a 460GTX. Google how to overclock both to a mild amount and look forward to not upgrading again for 5 years (or throw in a second 460 in 2 years when they get really cheap). I'm using PCCaseGear for my new build and getting local places to price match.
570 not worth the price jump? I kind of desire ridiculous performance

also fred: cheers for that build... I'm most likely going to work from that.

^ Congrats. Savour the glow.

Just paid real currency for a digital TV show and downloaded it - a personal first. The fantastic 'We Can be Heroes' will provide the perfect test for whether watching TV on the go is something I want to be doing in life.

Doing anything "on the go" that isn't listening to music or playing games is something I can see myself getting used to. After falling in love for eBooks on a friends iPad and listening to my first ever Idle Thumbs on the train home (and have been listening to at home ever since) I'm now open to pretty much any media being comfortably portable.

How many Idle Thumbs have you listened to?

Recently listened to the first episode. Even though the show changed over the years, it was great straight out of the gate and felt like they knew exactly what they wanted to be making. I have 4.3 straight days of Thumbs goodness in my iTunes, I'd love to go through it again.

Also this is good viewing:

GTX 570 is glorious.

I'm thinking about getting a second one so I can SLI. Only problem is I'll need an 850W PSU.

Is there an Idle Thumbs compilation show like someone made for 1up yours? I listened to the GDC podcast and loved it, so I've been wanting more for a while.

Compilation show wouldn't work as it would just be every Idle Thumbs episode ever made.

About 3 or 4 now. The latest (that's all iTunes could download at work through the stupidly restrictive proxy), the first three (which I queued up at home via work through remote console) and the Space Asshole one (which I'm listening to now).

It's bullshit how entertaining it is... pretty happy that I have a few days straight of IT to look forward to whenever there's a spare hour in my life to laugh along with and relate to.

I wish I could. Neither my wife or I have local parents or relatives so we're pretty much bringing up our son up on our own and he's not at an age yet where baby sitting is really an option. Visiting friends who also have kids is about the extent of my socialising at the moment. I don't work anywhere near the city anymore either, so even lunch is out of the question. If there's another meet in a years time (even nine months maybe) we should have a bit more independence and "I'm going out for drinks with some people from the internet, bbl" will be a bit more acceptable.

You've made me feel a little guilty about not going though, so here's a pic to make up for it:

Please tell me it will still be 400 tomorrow morning! I just turned my computer off and I missed your post somehow. I wonder if i can purchase using opera mobile..

Edit. Turns out yes! I can! Purchased! Thanks for the tip! :)

Update on SydGAF:

There are 5 responses so far and a clear result is already emerging. Thursday is the only night everyone can make so far and the Australian seems to be highly preferred so far.

Other SydGAF-Welshmen, register your info here if you missed the other post.

Aren't they back? The most recent show I listened to was dated only a week or two ago.
Fake edit: Looks like they only do one every few weeks or so now? :(

That was a special GDC cast. It's not frequent by any means.

I understand you pain all too well. Only seen my best mate twice outside of running into him at working this year. Working fulltime really does cut out most of your time when you really need to go to bed around 10pm. Is he sleeping though the night? My little guy must be having minor teething problems and after midnight/1am screams in his sleep every15 minutes until about 6am. Very draining, thankfully he is like a minime so I can't hold it against him. Started waving on Monday which was very cute. My parents live 5 hours away but have already made the trip down twice and given us a night to ourselves. Felt glourious.
/end fathers rant

Here is a picture of my 6 month old son with his leg stuck in his cot, the scamp.

I thought it was just me, but it's about the fifth or sixth photo you've posted where it's not worked (and asked me to login to Live). Perhaps you either need to learn how to use the internet*, or rehost somewhere else?

*sarcasm, the great humour thingy

Got my 3DS from Kmart at 7am for $288 (no accesory pack as rumored), not many people around. They only had one copy of each game and about six games, happily grabbed the only copy of Street Fighter for $59 (no ridge racer). Having played it now, wow. Its a cool toy indeed.

Damn SydGAF, I can't make next Thursday (I have family coming to stay from Wednesday onwards)

I was going to fill out the spreadsheet thingy but yeh, no point. Damnit... next time I gues! If this one succeeds we will have to do it again soon!!

Also, couple of quick questions re 3DS:

a) if I get the US console from Amazon, am I going to be able to play multiplayer with local consoles (eg If my mum gets a local 3DS and Animal Crossing when it comes out, what are the chances that she will be able to come into my US AC town and clear out all my weeds and steal my fruits?)

b) If I get a US console, does anyone have a spare DSi charger I can have for cheap cheap?

c) If I decide to get an AU console and walk into JB at lunch time today, what are the odds they will still have stock?

Lots of love,

BanShunsaku

By the end of Mirror's Edge, I just wanted it to be over. When I first picked it up, I had a glorious time running, jumping, evading. The Boat level (6/9), however, changed all that. There were way too many slow climbing sections and even more sections where you face armed goons. Thankfully most of the armed goon sections were short, but they were frustrating as hell.

I'd put it down for well over 12 months after reaching the Boat level and getting stuck
(where you have to burst out the back of the van)
pissed me off enough that I probably would've never picked it up were it not for Operation Backlog compelling me to finish off all these games that I left 20% from the end.

So, yeah, Mirror's Edge: Awesome until it's not.
