I know others in AusGAF have them and are indifferent towards it, but after using mine for the past year, I think it's great.

I never really liked Playstation controllers, but have a few 360 controllers and rather liked that. Never tried an Xbox One controller.

I didn't like the Steam Controller at first--and this seems a common reaction--but forced myself to stick with it (exclusively) for a month before I abandoned it. Now it's the only controller I use and much rather it over the others I've used.

I'm going to miss mine since I'm flying home that day but I kinda wanted to go because it's one of the few times I mingle with people outside of my own department out of the office and they tend to be quite chatty once they're a bit drunk.

My work party was a waste of time and money too, they completely balled out on a casino royale type thing with some runner up from the voice and her band doing the music for the night.
And that was it, shit drinks, they had some burlesque dancers running around who seemed more interested in taking photos of each other. They had some poker/blackjack/roulette tables set up where you won fake company money that got you nothing. All that kind of thing is fine for a dinner and maybe an hour after but they tried to sit us down for 5 hours.

Every work Christmas party I've been to, there are always a few people who get hammered, engage in an ill advised hook up and regret it all the next morning.

Just did one on Friday, basic drinks at a pub function room with canapes. From 5:30 to 7:30 so people didn't get hammered, were awake enough to be chatty and early enough to have other plans afterwards. Worked really well.

I haven't been overly convinced on the pro yet, I also haven't paid too much attention so that could be why.

Without a 4K HDR display, l would say no. I have a pro and a 4K HDR Sony and while the improvements in visual quality are nice, it's certainly not game breaking. Load time improvements are negligible.

I only have a 1080p display and I think the upgrade to Pro was more than worth it. I also think that the differences will only get more pronounced as games built with Pro support in mind start to come out.

Games with down sampling are worth it alone. Rise of the Tomb Raider looks stunning and has a bunch of options for 1080p displays.

High mode on FFXV has been fantastic as well, plus much more consistent frame rate in TLG.

I expect even more significant improvements in games like Horizon coming early next year.

Depends how much you game on it. You'd get much better IQ, slightly better load times. Are you playing native on the monitor or does it blow it up to 1440p? Can't remember monitor settings to well tbh.

Mainly future proofing as the Slim will end up running rough moving forward, we've already seen that with The Last Guardian. Publishers won't put as much effort into polishing the Slim version and will spend more time pushing the Pro. Kinda like end of last gen when you had Saints Row 4 coming out on 360 and running like garbage.

Super keen to see how Horizon ends up on Slim compared to Pro...

It's all about releasing something when it has relevance and mindshare. If I'm feeling nostalgic about a game I played multiple years ago I guess I'll give it go, but... I'm not complaining about money spent, more about lost opportunities.

I believe a team of hardworking non-union workers painted the '1's and '0's directly onto each blank disc surface with a really small pen.

All those threads on Rez are shocking, though. Off-centre disc labels, one-colour and wrinkled covers, one-sided labels... people have learned their lesson now.

Gumtree would net way more than trading in at EB, I think it's around the $100 mark at EB as I checked when buying my Pro and ended up selling it locally instead. PS4 is a bit more though, at Pro launch it was $160 with any game.
