Billion 7800N? Isn't that what you have, cookie? How is it?

Edit: oh, doesn't have VOIP. What's the difference between VGPRX and VGPR3 beside the price tag?

Edit 2: nothing useful, guess I'll just get the VGPR3.

Check WP for modem recommendations, Probably the best place.

I love my 7800N but yea, If you need voip then it's a no go. Hopefully the VGPR3 is good!

I already have one and have had no problems, so yeah. Need one for my girlfriend's place.

I've always had Billion modems/routers and always been happy with them. In particular, I have a 7300N which is working a treat!

Actually, Rahk... I have a Billion here that I don't use at all anymore that has VOIP. 7401VGP. Let me know if you might be interested!

Oh, all of the game is good (bar the slow escort quests), I just meant it picks up there storywise since the decision making starts there.

I got Vesna killed.

I dunno if that was a trivial failing, but I basically killed the dogs and walked on. I didn't really want to walk her home anyway; I didn't feel like there was going to be loving in it for me.

The Billion I had is probably the best router I've owned. I bought some wireless router and it ran okay until I upgraded for some unknown reason, a Draytek. It's pretty crappy for a $400 routerrr. I still don't have wireless on this PC for a reason I cannot figure out for the life of me. Sigh.

Also I think my wireless KB+M are dying. Typing this post has been a nightmare. :-\

Yeah, not really interested in the Elite stuff at all but I really don't think it warrants the outrage. Expected much 'worse' from Activision, to be be honest.

Sounds more like it'll be a loose cable (internally, obv) than a problem with the screen itself. Google might be your friend in this case!

Saw this thread, Deus Ex: HR's PC Preview Build version has leaked, and came to check to see if Jintor had accidentally emailed their copy to Demonoid.

GOG version + CE for the win. Although now I have the problem of having to play another game.... Which all now suck in comparison. I can run TW2 on Ultra with my eyes bleeding from the beauty but Fable 3 looks like someone smeared 5 inches of vaseline on my screen while I'm watching a cartoon from the early 90's. Nice port job Microsoft, you really do give a shit about PC gaming. Not.

I have never understood the appeal of the CoD games in general. The movement feels like you're floating, the stories are horrendous and it's basically a shooting gallery game. This is the one series that I genuinely don't understand why people like it?

Anyone here really into CoD?

That will be $240 sir ;)

I was wondering, is there a list of the words that will get you in trouble. I mean, I might say 'Jesus Christ' (lol commandment 3) and some may find that offensive? Who determines the offensiveness of the words?

Loved Cod 1, 2 and 4. Only ever played single player though. They tried to put push the immersive aspect of video games, which is something I am VERY interested in. The Russian level where you are just running around with a clip of ammo was fantastic back in the day.
The MP evolved into a crossbreed of deathmatch and MMO. People enjoy shooting people in the face. When you reward them for doing it they get the same addictive feeling as when you level up in an MMO. That is my take on it at least.

The cop on the spot I assume. Probably depends on your tone of voice and intent. If you intend to harm with your words then you are done for.

Also Deus Ex 3 Collectors Edition for $83.

Yeah, I quite enjoy the MP side of things. Not any good at it, but I find it fun.

Every day, JJJ pisses me off in some way. It's either an RnB track that has no place on the station, or some BS electro. JJJ seems to have so much more of a business model these days. I am getting older and more disgruntled sure, but I always thought this stuff belonged on commercial radio and not JJJ.

Sounds like it. I'm still early twenties and have no problem with what they have been playing lately. They have been playing the odd electro song for a while now. They tend to focus on the independent artists, or even if it is an Australian artist they tend to give them a bit more of a go. It is also dependant on what the listeners want.

Anyone interested in Dungeon Siege 3? Haven't heard much buzz for it but it's only $39 at OzGameShop and it will be interesting to see how Obsidian go.

JJJ might have changed, but so do your personal tastes as you get older... during the 90s and early 00s I listened to JJJ a ton... but then my tastes moved to liking more and more metal and as a result haven't listened to them in bloody ages. The whiny angtsy shit just got on my nerves too much. :D

In the meantime, I just listen to news/sports radio now. lol.

Man, that russian level. So awesome.

I used to love COD1 MP...pretty much everyone would end up camping and crawling around with the sniper rifle. Became quite a tense affair on the tighter maps.

Was doing ok for awhile updating but sort of stopped when things got busy with work. I keep meaning to update it and finish the series I was doing on it but I can never seem to find time to sit down and finish what I want for it.

I guess Kotaku is a blog.

But back when I was working on magazines I had a personal blog. Not a gaming one though.

I'm an atheist married to a Christian with a pastor for a father in-law. I go to church with my wife most weekends.

My blog is/was about that.

Out of curiosity does she 'make' you go or would she be offended if you didn't go with her?

If that's to personal then my bad and just ignore.

So Plants vs. Zombies for Android is free on the Amazon Android appstore today. Except you need to enter a credit card. And then when you enter a credit card it tells you that it's US only.

She doesn't make me. On some level (probably a patronising one) I find it quite interesting to go and listen.

I don't always go. I bail quite frequently. She just likes my company, and I don't mind going for the most part. I've made a lot of amazing friends through going.

Heh, that would be interesting, I should give it a read. I was going to ask what denomination you were being made to attend as it would determine how tolerable it would be (from my perspective...) and Seventh Day Adventist huh. I kinda figure them to be a little bit on the crazy fundamentalist scale at times, would this be true?

That said, my personal dealings with the church (as a kid baptised as a Lutheran) is not particularly a positive one. I still remember how shocked and appalled my mother was when I told her we weren't getting our child baptised. :x

Religion is funny. Quietly looking forward to seeing how my son reacts to it once he comes of intelligent age. Hopefully he isn't pissed that we got him baptised.

Do you have children? If so, how do you/would you decide as a couple how to 'raise' them?

Sutton Dagger said:

From my point of view as an atheist engaged to someone in the Uniting church we are raising our son in the church. Mainly because her church is really nice and the couple of services I've been to ignore all the angry, bad stuff in religion as is more like bringing the community together to help each other with their problems. If it was about being told you are bad for sinning I wouldn't let him go. We have also made some friends and a few babysitters through the church and they have a music group every Thursday so he gets to go and pretend an icecream container is a drum and try to sing songs like on Play School. Once he is big enough to talk though if he says he doesn't want to go, or doesn't enjoy going, he won't be going.

We don't have kids. If my missus ever gets pregnant, the plan is to go and spend a day writing up the Serrels manifesto - a set of rules that we'll be consistent with.

My view is that kids tend to go their own way anyway in these situations - at some point he/she will want to find his/her own answers But I have to respect my wife's right to share her beliefs with her children, just as she has to respect mine.

We've never had any problems because (I like to think) we're both really open minded.

So my test build for a new PC seems like it's going to cost around the $1500 mark. That's CPU, GPU, Mobo, CPU cooler, Ram, SSD and a new sound card because why the fuck not.

Tempting to pull the trigger although i haven't gone into great detail with what brand each item is and i haven't shopped around.

I will keep on waiting, Maybe :D

Has Fred had a look over it? He has a lot of great advice for keeping the cost down. Make sure to barter with your local PC stores to get the price down.

They are mock children's books. Not for children. As someone who enjoys their sleep but is always interrupted (and it will only get more annoying in the future) it is a funny read because you have been there before. The dead book is just weird. They make good joke presents to friends when you can't think of anything useful to give them.

I don't really have a good list of parts yet, It's just me dicking about with the idea of an upgrade. So i'm taking the average price of baords, ram etc into my cost.

I always do a huge amount of research before buying a new PC and i'm still trying to be patient with bulldozer. Plus, Playing BF3 at 1920x1200 in high settings at 60fps is one aim i wouldn't mind hitting, So maybe waiting it out a little longer could be a good option.
