AusGAF 3.0 - Double the price, region locked and refused classification

You can import copies from the UK from eBay stores for as low as AU$24.

Yeah, just figured as it was here it might be worth getting for that cheap (and quick).

Seeing as they're both kinda short and go for the same price, anyone interested in swapping a copy of Vanquish (for either console) for Crackdown 2? I reckon I'm pretty much done with it.

I know you guys hate me and everything but you really should pay attention to me sometimes, especially when I tell you to buy Vanquish for $18 because it is awesome. So you have no-one to blame but yourselves. Zavvi have it for $21. REPENT YOUR SINS AND ORDER NOW. Although at least GAME only take like 5 days to deliver as evidenced by the arrival of Tomb Raider Underworld CE today that I ordered on Saturday. $7!
That was before I had confidence in my ability to actually finish a game. Now that I do, I'm unstoppable. Gonna start rounding up all the games that are (relatively) short and clocking them like nobody's business.

I still have Bioshock 2 (from your recommendation, so don't say I never listen to you) and NBA 2k11 waiting for me on PC. Perhaps I should do a Bioshock run this week.

Got some more news on this RE thing, gotta post it at lunch ._.
Since Gamestop are fine with it will EB just go on with business as usual or are they making another stand? Seems like someone put in a new coffee machine in the Management lounge and they are running high on caffeine these last few weeks.

Vanquish is pretty short and sweet. Grab it!

I played the demo of Vanquish, started off really enjoying it, and by the end of the demo hated it's Japanese design of cheap one-hit kills that were never telegraphed.

... anyone got any Google+ invites?

WTF is Google+? I think I have it, my iGoogle page now has a black bar at the top.

Edit: I'll mention it again... anyone wanna swap Vanquish for Crackdown 2? Or sell it for cheaper than Game was?

We could even start a game swapping thing here... I have a tonne of games I'll (probably) never play again that people might be interested in swapping stuff for.

Google+ is their new social network, there's a thread in OT about it. The black bar is going to be a part of it, but it doesn't mean you have it - yet.

Google+ is some kind of facebooky type thing for socialising online, I got the black bar as well but I don't think it's +

I used potions but it wasn't really enough. I did try place a bomb but it was behind the reset checkpoint, so kinda broken there. I was trying to pull them as a group one by one, WoW style into my trap but the game had other ideas!

If they hit you from behind you take a huge amount of damage, a few hits of that and you're dead before you notice wtf was going on.

It's a shame it seems so broken early on. I figured packs of 2 maybe 3 max would be enough to help you level up during the first few hours then throw on 4, 5, 6 and more as the game progresses. But it does love to throw 4 and 5 at you as you're just cruising along minding your own business, It's also a shame you can't seem to interact with doors if you're in combat. How am i meant to run away like a sissy!

What are you assigning points to on your skill tree? I blitzed through that cave (just using melee and maybe Quen), tbh the only parts that I really found difficult in chapter 1 was the end boss (forgotten his name) and the wraiths. I am using points in the training and swordsmanship skill tree and using a control pad to play (if that helps).

Except without the annoying applications spamming their crap into my feed. And I can choose who I send updates to.

But more importantly to me is Streams. Looks like a cross between Google Reader and Google News (the News team is actually developing Streams). Could be great.

Google+ isn't the black bar (apparently that's called the Sand Bar... WTF). Let's call it a mashup of Facebook, Twitter, Google News, Picnik.

One great feature is you can share stuff with people who aren't even Google+ members, it sends them an email instead. No chance of Facebook integration though.

Is there any issue with local play between a US 3DS and a PAL? I have friends with PAL models but due to advice here and prices I've seen I'm thinking of going with the US model...
I think it depends on the game, I know SF4 has local cross region multiplayer but DOA doesn't for example.
Totally swooning over ocarina of time atm, never owned an N64 so the bulk of my experience comes from playing it over a mates house sporadically over 8 months before my save got wiped .

I believe there's some sort of categories thing, but I use the iGoogle Gadget so don't login to the Facebook website any more. Except to update my privacy settings.
I don't use Facebook much, but I know I don't get application spam now. I'd be personally shocked if Google+ gets any appreciable market share at all.

You can turn off the application spam, so it's not so bad.

As for the market share, their track record on social stuff is pretty terrible. Buzz's privacy settings killed it early, and no one knew what the hell Wave was for. It sounds like they're really pushing Google+ though, and if everyone moved once from MySpace to Facebook, I can see it happening again.

A lot more people on Facebook now though, with bigger networks.

I'd take a google+ invite too if anyone has one. Mainly just to see what it all looks like. I don't use Facebook much anymore, it's all about the twitter (I love twitter).

I especially love Twitter because there's no requirement for two people to follow one another. It can be totally one-sided.

Choc doesn't seem to be around this morning, but he was mentioning in Steam chat that Kmart got fined very recently for breaking a street date.

Think it was Fable II. Someone on twitter was saying the same thing...

Quick question for you guys.

Can anyone ever remember a time when a retailer was fined for breaking street date?
Big W got sent stock later than other stores for a while because of breaking street dates. Can't remember 100% DETAILS THOUGH.

This rings a bell, I remember being able to pick up Fable II early because of K-Mart. But don't know if they got fined.

Kmart was DEFINITELY fined for Fable II

EDIT:

FYI

-How do fines come about?

Breaking street dates is against the buyers contracts that publishers have with retailers. Those contracts generally stipulate the penalties for street date breaks

In certain games, the contracts are per titlte (EG halo, gears, etc)

Any idea which one? And under what authority? Seems pretty shabby for an ombudsperson to fine someone for selling stock early.
Pretty sure he pulled that out of his arse, there isn't an ombudsman related to retail or ditribution or VIDEO GAMES. I assume there's a contract clause they're in breach of.

To be honest I don't know. I just like using big words which make me seem smarter.

Yeah, a quick google makes it look like MS levied the fine. Weird. Must be some strong contracts.

serrels the link is dead though as that site is gone.

http://www.gameplayer.com.au/gp_documents/Fable-2-Punishment.aspx

For those who don't know, K-Mart sold Fable 2 in Australia. Now they are getting punished with a $10,000 fine and they can't sell Gears of War 2 for 2 weeks he CML group Target and Myer. I don't think were gonna see any stores sell games early for awhile because not selling Gears 2 for 2 weeks is a lot of money lost.

trying to find a cache of it

Does that include if they purcahsed import stock and not from the local distributer?
