are you currently paying regular tax via income tax, or a student at uni etc?


Socialism is rife in uni, but once the workforce becomes part of your life, captilism rules, as much as you may fight it.


I am not saying what you say is wrong, or right. What i am wondering is to get some perspective of your history as a taxpayer.

if you have been paying tax regularly on income and keep getting hit harder and are happy about it, more power to you.

Legend, My SSD is the crucial M4 64GB, The one i mentioned which is $30 more or so than your OCZ. It's sata 6 so it's quicker and hopefully more stable than the ocz you linked.

There is a firmware upgrade, 002 which you will need to update before you throw your system on it. Just stops random freezing which people were having on intel sata controllers.

I'm working full time as a registered nurse not that it should have any bearing on this discussion.

the fact that you are a taxpayer and feel this way greatly improves your argument versus that if you were a young person not paying income tax at this stage.

You can't deny what you propose and speak in this thread is socialism. It is socialism at its best.

Take from the rich to improve the poor so overall society is improved. Pure socialism.

I hope GAF doesn't bend the knee to this bullshit. TVTropes went with a totally alternative ad scheme and survived alright. Of course I'm pretty sure they don't have as heavy a server load as GAF does.

Here's a brief summary of the TVTropes incident (the best thing about a wiki going through this crap is that people feel compelled to document it). Basically what they did was they partitioned off anything that Google Adsense might find objectionable onto a seperate area, and ads for those pages are supported by a different advertising group. I think GAF might be able to work along these lines with a more questionable subforum, but it's a coding area and I don't know how that stuff works.

Playing Portal 2 with someone is so much god damn fun.

Not online co-op. Just having someone there getting frustrated as hell and then elated as hell. I didn't think of the first game as having much of a sociable dimension, so to speak, but this time around—even though I haven't used the co-op—I am just so thrilled to play it with people.

I just don't really agree with this. The argument i was making hasn't changed one bit but somehow because i'm not a uni student it becomes more valid?

Its not all that bad. Mostly just ironing out the logistics and then we can work out where to go from there. 99% of GAF can operate as per usual, its mostly the blatant sexually crass threads that got cut.

PerthGAF, anyone going to or been to Redflag Lanfest? I only heard about it tonight, and it's this weekend. Really tempted to turn up on Sunday but I'd like some feedback first to see if it's any good... always wanted to go to a BYO LAN ever since I was 13 or so. Now that I'm actually somewhat of an adult I can give it a go, I just never really thought of it until I saw the ad on the side of Facebook (which I usually ignore).

Or for more of a conversation: anyone been to any large LAN events? Recommend 'em, or a waste of time?

Madrigal, I used to go to LAN events a lot. They're fun if you either know a couple of people there, or have enough social skills to get to know a couple of people in a short amount of time.

Even if not it's definitely worth going at least once.

Just make sure you protect your PC who knows what's floating around everyone's machines...

BTW Jeff Minter's new game Deflex is out. It's rather good. Don't bother buying it if you're on a 3GS though.

Yeah, there was an awesome QGL where someone had kiddy porn on their PC, someone called the cops, they got busted. But the hillarious thing done, was to copy it to other peoples PC's who didn't know about! Hillarious!

the whole thing was disturbing

I used to run the Sydney Gamers League along with a few blokes, like AGES ago, seriously before broadband internet was mainstream.

Also used to sometimes meetup with and do things with Trog and the guys from QGL/Ausgamers
