Not a mosque, but there's a (I think) Sikh temple at Eight Mile Plains (been there for years) where there was a housing estate recently developed right next to it. The people at the temple had erected a sign so that people who were looking at the blocks of land would know that the temple was occasionally operating 24 hours a day and there may noises from music, loudspeakers and large groups of people. I think those blocks are still available for some reason i haven't quite put my finger on.

I've never heard the noise from the nearby mosque.
I was raised Christan, but I am an atheist so that's what I'm putting on the form.

Personally, I think the only thing worse than having a mosque or a church nearby would be a pub. I like the quiet and sounds of nature, not the sound of bogans.

If you're talking about the area immediately to the left, I'm pretty sure the Sikh temple ended up buying that land for future expansion.

There is a newly developed housing area behind the temple, which is now mostly occupied.

Most noise would come on Sunday afternoon, and it would be no different than to a church. Just people coming and going and milling about. From memory they don't normally broadcast their prayer on speakers outside the building.

i broke my computer and can't play cs:s and the sky is falling and ohgodsomebodyhelpmeplease!

when I restarted my PC just now it came up with a screen that says
my shenaniganising computer said:

grub rescue>(I can type here)
what the hell did I do?
I deleted my linux partition a few days ago to make room for a scratch disk, besides that nothing I've done that I can think of should have broken it. Buuut I'm not too good with PCs.

*edit*
http://www.lukeaddison.com/removing-linux-grub-restoring-windows-7-boot-gui/
that seems to answer my queries, trying to get it all sorted now.

*edit again*
aaand fixed.
linux, not even once.

I had a phone interview with the Apple store this afternoon. I haven't had a job interview in 10 years. It didn't go too well I don't think haha.

I might have to miss Mel gafson's birthday too, going to Phillip Island for the weekend. But I don't know when we're leaving on Saturday so I'll still try to make it out early if I can.

TF2, how I have missed thee. Also, I thought playing on a high fps (on max settings as well! 8xmsaa isnt for me, maybe 2x or 4x max) would make me better at it. It didn't. I suck. :(

We should all play! :D

edit: also, i downloaded the lite version of game dev story for android. fuck me dead. there goes my commutes. will buy the full version as soon as my visa mastercard comes in the mail.

edit2: also i may have to miss mel gafson's birthday. I'm going to be babysitting and being a little busy. :( Definitely next time if I manage to miss this time

If you look at the temple from logan road, the sign and the blocks facing it were to the right.

Anyway, its wednesday. Meh.

Official apple store. Their job titles are fairly vague but I'm going for "specialist" (read: sales bitch) at Doncaster. Today is my last day of full time work and I have nothing lined up. Need part time 2/3 days a week max.

What the hell kind of interview question is "could you describe your proudest moment to us?" ? Are all interviews this abstract or did I luck out because the apple store is popular?

You're interviewing for a job where people skills and good personality are a necessity. They are always going to ask questions like that.

Your a couple of days late and this is nothing like microtransactions as we have seen in other games.

I still don't understand why they can't build an offline mode.

Fucking lazy.

Couple days late? that was posted last night at 4:10.......

Its similar to micro transactions and its heading that way. I am glad that it will hopefully kill off the market for gold farmers but this model could make other games terrible. i don't particularly want paying real money to be the best option for buying in game items.

Yea they should have just added in an offline lan mode. then again if u could bot offline and bring everything you gained to the online market it would crash it hard.

Offline content is restricted to offline. Shouldn't be too hard.

Creating an offline mode which is fully locked off from the online is moving towards making two different games. Resources are split, there's a ton of checks to go forth and so on. By sticking to always online, they can spend everything on making the one game instead of making two different versions of the same game with slightly differing rule sets, making both versions worse.

Also, there'd be the idiots complaining about buying an item off the real money auction house and then not being able to give it to their offline character. Or finding some awesome item in offline and not being able to sell it for cash.

well your source is late. It's not really similar to any microtransaction system I have seen in any game this is players selling to players which happened alot in d2 through third party's.

Yes I think there should be an offline mode it would need to be offline only/single player only as to not lead to the botting/duping/hacking fest that plagued the previous game.

Why is it such a big problem? How does this affect you playing and enjoying the game?

As a side note, talking with my housemate last night he is now anti-diablo and is opting in for this instead

Grim Dawn

Servers go down = can't play
Internet goes down = can't play
In location with no net = can't play

It has a single player, it should never require you always be connected to the net.

Ok so you don't consider the MANN store or whatever the TF2 thing is called a micro transaction model. Because this is essentially the same thing.

Fair enough but they are designing to to be more MMO-esque.
Get better net. :p
I don't think this should be a valid point seeing as there is pretty much wi-fi everywhere and you can tether net from mobile so easily.

You think it's ok for devs to force always online DRM on people...?

I'm picturing Torchlight 2 blitzing Diablo 3, at least in the review stakes. Guys behind it seem far more clued up than Blizzard.

Definitely more clued up. I mean, when your devs say "I want to play Diablo 3 on my laptop in a plane, but, well, there are other games to play for times like that," something is wrong!

Aren't most of the torchlight devs old blizzard/diablo devs anyway?

Guarantee you that the specs needed for T2 are far less than D3.

Keep in mind that I'm not a hardcore Diablo fan nor do I keep up with the details of either game, but I get the impression that one is going to be clearly more accessible than the other.

That's code for "if you think I'm going to say something that directly goes against the mandate given to me by people who sign my paychecks then you've got rocks in your head"

I really need to do a Brendan Brewer comic about LAZY DEVELOPERS UGH

As far as i am aware. I last heard that Torchlight 2 was being developed as an MMO but it would also have offline singleplayer. Which is essentially what we are asking for here.

They were going to do that originally, but they changed their plans and Torchlight II will be an action RPG like the first, but with MP added.

They are going to make a Torchlight MMO at some point though.

ill wait till launch and see how the community fares here first.
D3 was always going to played mulitplayer for me, so the always online restrictions wont be a bother but for the sake of common sense & convenience im against all such things....but not enough to warrant a pre-order cancellation.

So I see that RO2 is finally available for pre-order. I go to the steam page for it and see "Low Violence: Low Violence Version"; I am saddened. Any word on what the changes will be? Also "R18+", "this is bullshit", "leaving money on the table", "outraged", "god damn AGs" /choc :p

On the Diablo 3 front. Fuck off Blizzard. Well that games off my radar. Looks like it's just Torchlight II and Grim Dawn from now on.

Dunno, perhaps just a place holder as it doesn't look like its gone through with the classifcation board from what I can see.

Was the first Red Orchestra cesnored in Aus? Google is somewhat inconclusive.

Just found this on the steam forums from one of the Tripwire Guys

Tripwire VP said:
We've put "LV" up for Australia because we haven't got the rating back yet - and dear old Oz has just announced the new higher rating category. We are HOPING that they will take the same view as PEGI/BBFC and NOT go all silly on us. However, until we're sure, we putting LV up to be safe. The Okkers may want to wait a few days and see what the end result is - but we'd hate for you to buy it and THEN find your ratings board can't cope with dismemberment (like USK...).

So I guess I'll hold off on pre-ordering for now.
