AusGAF 3.0 - Double the price, region locked and refused classification

I'm fairly certain that if a 2 year old tried to buy a ticket to an R18 film the staff would simply say no and then look for their parent or guardian.
You would think so, but given it's not against the law I'd love to see a parent try to get their kid to buy a ticket to an R18+ movie on their own.

The ensuing ACA fallout would be delightful.

It has a few rough edges, but the combination of ideas and aesthetics the game displays is worth your time. Outland is out now on the Xbox Live Arcade, and will be available on the PlayStation 3 just as soon as you send Sony a copy of your house key.

I watched the youtube trailer for the awesome looking Zombie map for Black Ops. All the comments were variations on, "Can't wait to play this on my Playsta...LOL".

Damn you, AusGAF! I bought a box.

Say do any of you know of any good marriage celebrants on the Sunshine Coast? We had a family friend lined up for the job, but, for various reasons I won't get into here, we've basically decided to fire him. It sucks and is going to cause huge family drama, but that's what I get for being agnostic in a deeply devout Evangelical family and deciding to marry a deeply lapsed Catholic. That particular talk with my parents is going to be delightful.

Seriously, it's like being in an Indian family, but without any of the implicit understanding I might get from people by virtue of actually being Indian.

Just needs that very small grin in the middle to be perfect!

Edit: Thanks for the update on the Rau statement. Not quite as good as hoped, but still, good none the less.

Haha.

I think it would be worse being from an Indian heritage. Because it's not only family but the whole damn community that goes ballistic.

Sorry to hear about your problems though. Hope you can work it out.

I can do it if you like. I've conducted several marriage cermonies. If you're interested, please fill out this form:

Remember, to avoid disappointment, try not to schedule the ceremony for a patch night.

Dick Johnson was just on the tele, furiously explaining to me the wonder that is Crimsafe. How it is the number one security measure that any home could have. How everything in your home will forever be secure with this exceptional safety system. How you shouldn't be fooled by any other company into thinking their product measures up to the engineering marvel that is Crimsafe. How you owe it to your family and your possessions to have the peace of mind that they will never be harmed or stolen if you follow his advice and wisdom.

The whole time he was talking, all I could focus on was the huge PLAYSTATION sponsorship logo emblazened across his chest.

Ah, I think I'll pass on your advice right now, Dickie.

A mate of mine comes from a strict Catholic family and he and his gf aren't religious at all. He is too scared of what his family will think to propose to his long time gf. I hate to see people force their views on other people like that. If you don't want to be religious that is your decision. If my parents tried to force that on me they understand that I would cut ties with them until they came to their senses and let me be an adult.

I've got a Kindle in my sights while the dollar keeps rising. Once it peaks around June I'll pull the trigger and have a fancy new ebook reader for my lovely lady.

So my 2 year plan is about to run out for my phone. It's an old 3G phone, and I really need to upgrade.

So I'd sell my 3G for whatever I can get for it, but I'd like to (legitimately) unlock it first. Would I have to go to the same place I bought the phone in order to get it unlocked? Does it cost anything now to unlock it, despite being out of contract? Can anyone unlock it? Any help?

Annoyed that the next iPhone might not come out for another 6 or so months. Might have to get an iPhone 4 outright, then upgrade again and sell that off later >_>

Who's your provider Rlan? Generally you have to call them up and tell them you would like your iPhone unlocked. They will ask for certain details (IMEI and serial numbers), which they then forward to Apple and tell you it will take 2 weeks to happen. You will get an alert telling you there is an update waiting, you plug your phone into iTunes, update and BAM, unlocked.

The difference between mobile service providers is whether or not they charge you a fee. Even though they do little more than fill in a form and send it to Apple, some want up to $150 for doing so.

If what Choc says is true, thats great news. Either way, Virgin is owned by Optus and Optus didn't charge an unlock fee for any of their iPhones on plans.

Just give the Virgin Mobile customer service line a ring and they can get things in motion for you.

I think that's actually a really good idea, I never really like the MA rating anyway when the M already existed.

On principle I wouldn't mind getting rid of one of the M ratings... really, why have two?

On the other hand, one of the nice things about introducing R18+ for video games is that it brings it in line with movies. If you want to abolish one from video games, you should have a view that you need to abolish it from movies as well.

Damn.

If I miss the delivery of my headphones, I supposedly have to go and pick them up from the courier's depot at Darra.

My first time hearing of Darra. What a fucking budget system. Leave me a note and arrange an alternative time, you motherfuckers.

Once I have these headphones, I am going to smear this company.

I was going to hold out for an iPhone 5, but I read something briefly in today's mX that the white 4 is now out. FUUUUCK.

Hopefully that means that there'll be a white 5.

Just posted this in the Fallout New Vegas OT:

Startup Fallout: New Vegas on the 360. There's a patch. It's a bug-riddled mess so I happily download it and restart.

Go to load my latest save and it says some downloadable content I've downloaded is no longer available, which is odd since I've never downloaded any, but I continue anyway.

And then it hangs while loading the save. Or any other save. WTF Obsidian?

Edit: It's a known problem. Still, this isn't exactly helping Obsidian's track record...

From the official forums:
On consoles, we are aware that a small group of 360 users are seeing a DLC warning which is preventing you from loading save games. We are absolutely looking into this bug now, along with other reports of save game corruption. It is our highest priority right now that we find out what is causing it. In the meantime, we recommend you save often, and revert to an older save if this occurs.

Obsidian's track record...
This right here. Great games covered in janky bug-riddled mess. Hire a damn QA department and listen to them for once! Test your game while you make it! You can spot the shitty game mechanics from the fantastic ones that way!

Gazunta said:
This is the best advice you can give any game developer anywhere, ever. QA <3
Well, I'm being a bit over the top. They have a QA department but I get the feeling they don't integrate it into their communication structure properly. They should watch the Volition retrospective and see that even the head of the developer spends time debugging. That said it is also important for the developers to listen to the reports and actually put the shit into action regardless of the cost/time incurred. A lot of companies now run constant testing from day one of construction, Valve have talked a lot about how important it was to constantly test everything to see if it was fun yet.

A POLISHED GAME MAKES REPTILESCORPIO A HAPPY GAMER

Simply put, look at Valve. Polish that game to perfection and you will roll in the critical acclaim and adulation from the fans. Make it fun, make it polished, make it right out of the gate.

They still make the best games. Obsidian are my only insta buy developer.
Alpha Protocol redeemed my disappointment of NW2 and KOTOR2. Still janky though. Won't buy their games until I hear they are patched well enough for a playthrough. CD Projekt Red are the only insta buy company I can think of (yes only one game but that one game has put them on the insta buy list because of how great it is and how great they have been to the consumer). And Final Fantasy main series. Because I am a consumer whore driven by romantic ideals.

This sounds like a good topic... who were/are your instabuy devs? The only ones that come to mind immediately are Volition (but not forever, only in the last year or so since I found out they did RFG... always knew they were behind SR2, though) and Double Fine (I have wood for Tim Schafer).

http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/business/famous-tourist-strip-in-terminal-decline-20110427-1dwm7.html?from=smh_ft

Noosa's once-bustling Hastings Street may be in terminal decline, traders fear.
The Hastings Street area has already suffered great losses under the clouds of the tourism-destroying La Nina weather system.

There are currently more than 10 shopfronts vacant due to a failed resort development and flagging economic conditions.

One of Hastings Street's true hospitality survivors of the past 13 years, Ma Mensa Italian restaurant, closed its doors earlier this month after three difficult years. Across the road there is a large banner advertising a closing down sale at D'Pinga women's fashion boutique. The sunglasses store, Shades, next door will also close in the coming weeks.

Mr Nuske said a concerted effort needed to be made to attract affluent tourists to the area and suggested a "boutique casino", designed to attract high rollers, be considered for Noosa.

"It could be something high-market, we need to target very specific tourists," he said.
"A casino could work here - Queenstown [in New Zealand] has two casinos and their population is 17,000 compared with 57,000 here in Noosa."

lol, what a fuckwit. Yeah, good plan. Make Noosa even more of a snobbish joke.

Went there for most of my childhood Christmases, and it used to be great. It's this 'upmarket' bullshit that has sucked the soul out of the place.

Volition and Bethesda for me at the moment. There were quite a few where I would buy anything in a certain genre from a dev once upon a time, but they have mostly closed (Microprose - flight sims, Rebellion- shooters, LucasArts - space sims).

Actually Volition are insta buy since RFG and SR2 were awesome and RFA and SR3 look amazing so far (they also did Descent and Freespace so they had 2 free passes). Also I would love the Kinect Sesame Street game Double Fine are working on. Since Tim Schafer is my Lucasarts hero I will always buy his crap. Stacking was awesome. I will pick up ANY Valve single player game as they are always great, don't have time for MP though so I avoided L4D and TF2. Bioware were insta buy until Jade Empire worried me and then DA2 killed it off. ME3 will still be day one though. Irrational Games insta buy for obvious reasons.

Geelong CBD is dead because the plaza contains everything you could possibly need. Only the discount rug store is left on the main corner, KFC closed up this year and Leading Edge music shutdown 3 months after JB Hi-Fi moved in (I'm sure it was a coincidence).

Yeah, after seeing that Volition doco and realising that not only did they do Descent, I found out that Freespace 2 was awesome and that they did RFG. I knew they did the SR series but I figured that was all they had under their belt.

rs: On Geelong, man they screwed up the CBD. Darren Lyons is a right fuckwit, but he has an excellent point about reducing all the parking in the streets to parallel-only so that anyone wanting to park blocks the single-lane traffic, and there's less of it. The palm trees and pseudo-seaside town vibe shits me to tears. I can't remember the last time I went into the city (that didn't involve getting pissed on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night) and it doesn't bother me one bit. Actually, I'm sure it was for a massage at that Asian joint near Big W in Bay City Plaza and that was quite a while ago.

I grew up there. Been hearing about the economic suffering on Hastings Street - an out of the way high-price tourist strip set up purely for interstate visitors - but also a surge in tourism along Noosaville in recent months as the industry recovers.

The real Noosa is along the river anyway. Hastings Street was never for the locals and could drift off into the ocean for all I care.

Truth. We started changing our holiday accommodation to the river, and going into Eumundi (Berkelouw's is a bizarrely decent bookshop) instead of Hastings St.

That said, the Frenzy van at the main beach has given me some of the most sensational icecream experiences of my life.

NWN2 seems like it would be good in co-op but I don't get time for MP. KOTOR2 is apparently great now that the community has modded it to the point of practicality. Otherwise I found it a mess in every way, it was obviously rushed out. I plan on eventually playing it with the Mod but the day one experience was bad.

Hah! We'd go up to the groin for a swim/surf/fish and grab an icecream from there too!

So many Hastings Street memories though - sneaking into hotels to use their pools; bonfires on the beach; bongs in the bushes; having a perv at all the Melbournites each summer; stealing shit; icecreams from Massimos; pushing stolen shopping carts into the river - GOOD TIMES. As a middle-class kid who didn't give a shit about all the luxury modcons, you learn to make your own fun.

There's one upside to the PSN debacle. Great material for the webcomics.

No such thing as instabuys these days. Burnt too many times with preorders

I love Ratchet and Clank but hate Resistance. I love Uncharted but hated JakII. I love HL, Portal, DoD but not CS or TF2. Rare circa 1998 used to be an instabuy but now they make Rare games circa 2011 and I throw up in my mouth.
