Ohhh ok. I read it wrong. I thought it said "remove 4 or 5 letters" when it says "remove 4 of 5 letters".

I get it now, thanks for showing how stupid I am though.

I am going to chill for a while before I try Witcher 2.

Going to run Anno, Dawn of War 2, Crysis, and a few other things first.

Edit: I will skim through the Bolt Report on youtube afterwards.

Then again, if a fifth season does get greenlit, they'll probably just reverse the huge change half an episode in like they did with the potentially awesome idea of everyone being on the run a few seasons back.

The fifth season was greenlit, 13 episode only so let's hope they don't fuck it up.

Was announced last Friday! Fifth and final season, 13 episodes. Lets hope they stick to a 13 episode arc and don't lengthen with filler like they did this season!

I'm actually really glad they are

now. Lots of potential for a fun final 13 episodes.

And I don't have any money. :'(

Nor do I, unfortunately. I am doing some work which will bring in a satisfactory amount, but they will take an age to actually pay me.

I think Danoss recommended this:

http://ninite.com/

But is there anything else I, as a complete PC noob, should do when the thing arrives ? Apart from throwing Windows on it.

You need to start practicing your smug sense of superiority so that you are sufficiently ready to become a part of the master race.
Other than that, get Steam and play some vidya games, Ninite should set you up pretty well.

Not really Sal. Use ninite as danoss has mentioned and update windows, Good chance you will just update to SP1.

If you're paranoid then you can create a restore point or image your machine after everything is setup.

I mean it. Driver and patch have hitherto meant entirely different things to me. Never had contact with either.

A CAMPBELL Newman government would impose a policy of moving people out of overstressed areas of the state's southeast, starting with public servants.

The Liberal National Party leader said Maryborough, Gympie and Cairns were ideal candidates for a population influx of public servants.

lol.

I still haven't finished RDR, either. Really should, too.
You really should. Mexico is pretty middling but the final 2 acts are fantastic. The ending is really well done. Hopefully the RDR team lead development on the next GTA (well, avoid the whole take forever to finish it part).

All this talk of LA Noire and the only thing I can think about is Dirt 3 coming out in a few days. So excited.
Game Informer blew their load all over it in the latest issue. Made it sound like the best rally game ever catering to fans of both Dirt 1 and 2. TONS of tracks too.

- There isn't any time in the next month to actually play LA Noire on PS3.
- Sound like the kind of run in that you would go pleasure yourself in the bathroom afterwards. Mmmm. Comeuppance.
- Probable best to cancel that pre-order and buy it when you are actually going to sit down and devote 10 hours to it. Otherwise it will distract you from your task/another game, leading you to get frustrated and have even less time up your sleeve.

One time this occurred with the nearest GAME store. The manager went in, bought the game and then sent in the receipt. About an hour later we had the go ahead to begin selling. About another half hour after that we got a call from another EB Games store wondering why the hell we're selling the game early. The nation wide email was sent shortly after that.
So as soon as corporate get the fax they send it off to the Australian distributor and say, "These arseholes have started selling your game early! We have to start selling too otherwise everyone will cancel their pre-orders! Now go punish that other retailer!". At least, that's what I would do. :)

Eh, install all the crap that Windows Update asks you too, get all the ninite stuff you want. Are you getting an ATI or NVIDIA card? just go to their homepage to find drivers. Supposedly they are slowing down driver releases, both are offering updates for when new drivers are available now so you don't have to check every few days.

MSI GTX570 TwinFrozr II/OC

Which means, I assume, I go here

And download the BIOS, driver, and utility ?

From what I can remember, I'd just made it to Mexico... possibly done a bit more in it. My problem with open world games is that I get distracted too easily with side quests (and in this case, randomly shooting shit out of the sky). If I have a session on it again, definitely just focusing on the story proper.

Sweet. TBH I wasn't expecting a lot out of 2 after I'd played 1 for a bit and it never really grabbed me. Despite being more maxxtreme, I much prefer 2.

I'm 99% sure that LA Noire will get purchased quite some months down the track. Don't mind in the slightest, tbh.

Am I the only one who isn't finding this episode of Angry Boys to be even remotely entertaining? S.Mouse is fucking terrible. Poo on You? He knows Chapelle already made Piss on You like what 5 years ago at least? And it was infinitely funnier?
My mum's comment was that the show is all shock value with zero substance, and so far I have to agree. After the brilliance of SHH this is rather disappointing, hopefully this is just a dud episode and it's going to pick up, the first episode had parts that had me cracking up (mostly the mainies).

You have an nvidia card so just stick with this i would believe - http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

You don't need the bios unless you decide to do something funky and utility is probably for over clocking etc.

BTW Anyone else getting Dirt 3? I wasn't going to get it on launch, but in a random act of kindness my brother gifted it to me via Steam... and I couldn't be more excited. Dirt 2 is one of the few games I've actually completed in the last 6 months or so.

MK just threw me a little bit... in the subway stage there was an ad for the TAC. Speed Kills etc.

How long has MK had advertising in it for? I saw no mention of it anywhere. Thought it would've been a big deal. Especially weird that an Australian ad made its way in there!

Just about the only objection or interest channel 9 can muster about refugee treatment regards how much it costs the taxpayer.

Incidentally, someone has put up a massive billboard just as you come off the highway near my house, and it says that the world is definitely doing to end on May 26.

3 days after my birthday - which I like to think the Almighty bore in mind when he was scheduling whatever is in store.

Unless you have some sweet swag to give away, in which case you are awesome and we should hang out sometime. :)

Also good news everyone! Minerva's Den for Bioshock 2 PC is out this month!! Also RPS tease why TW2 is so awesome. Everyone should be playing TW2 this week.

Quite looking forward to it. The few videos I have seen makes it look good and the MP modes seem really fun.

Speaking of which, anyone getting Dirt 3 next week up for some multi on the weekend? Most likely either Friday or Saturday night.

My RDR playthrough has stalled, once again. I finally got past Mexico, which was an effort, in of itself and I was ready to burn through it. However, house buying stuff consumed my free time and I can't bring myself to start it up again.

The few of times that I've fired up the 360 I've seen the Play Red Dead Redemption icon in the My Xbox Menu, guiltily tabbed my My Games Library and played an Arcade Game.

On one hand I've really lost interest in the story and don't feel compelled to play it but on the other hand, I'm not sure if it's entirely the game's fault. In a weird, life-reflecting-on-games kind of situation, I'm wondering if the events in my life are playing a part on what I'm experiences I'm getting from the game.

I've found buying a house to be a completely frustrating endeavor. Even though I'm performing tasks to reach a goal that I want, most of my time has been performing tasks that serves every other parties interests. Sign this, copy that, do this again, we need this, we now want that, etc, etc. All these tasks seems to be more in line with getting what these third parties want, at which point they'll help me.

This is RDR in a nutshell. Marsten spends all of his time serving the interests and agendas of those around him. The first act of the game should be subtitled "John is a dirty bitch that likes to be used. Find an unattended orifice and have at it". Mexico, while not that much better, is when John starts to find his voice for his dislike for his situation. Sure, it doesn't stop him from killing people that he doesn't want - and shouldn't, quite frankly - kill or turn a blind eye to the actions of others. But he does everyone's bidding because he has a goal and that's what he needs to do.

The part that has made me frustrated with the game is that I never really understood why he needed to be subjugated by every person in that game. You start off the game by meeting your goals head-on, which doesn't work; but that was because the plan was stupid, not because you didn't have a rag-tag band of characters to help you. In fact, by the middle of the first act, I think I had enough money accumulated that I could have put a $15000 bounty on their heads and had every law man and bounty hunter going after them. I just didn't buy that the hoops that he had to go through we justified or even necessary.

As a long time game player, I'm used to the fetch-quest system: You need something which someone has / can provide / know the location of, so you become their whipping boy for a while. What made john's situation unacceptable for me was that he has spent the whole time telling people what a badass he was and that if they don't give him what he wants after this mission he'll make them sorry for stringing him around. And then he does another mission for them.

I don't know if it is that I don't currently feel like playing a game where the protagonist is going through the same frustrations as I am or if it's a case where I don't beleive that John would allow himself to be lead around so shamelessly and therefore undermined the core of the game for me.

Or, maybe, just maybe the game wasn't for me.
