Well, anything really. Just have to VPN/unblock-US everything?

I wonder if you can get it to connect to iView and SBS OnDemand and stuff. Not that it would matter but whatevs.

I've tried HuluPlus on the PS3, but I haven't been able to get it to work with the credit card I use for Netflix, so I'm not sure on that. The only thing I can say works for sure is Netflix.

All I actually want it for is to stream Animuz over Crunchyroll, which as far as I can tell won't need VPN breakage unless Roku itself is blocking it or something.

I have no idea what Animuz or Crunchyroll are.

animuz is just a stupid way of saying anime. Crunchyroll is a media streaming company that specialises in East-Asian media. As far as I can tell they have licences for Australian streaming, but I have no idea if that extends to Roku Box streaming (or if Roku Box has like an account system in itself first, etc)

Free teriyaki rice Burger at the opening of Brisbanes mosburger store. Whooooo. I have never seen such extravagant measures gone to open a store. Business men bowing, kimono clad ladies, music, an opening ceremony with ribbon cutting @_@

How long was the line. There were lines around the block for the new burrito place the other day.

Also where is it?

Spooky. Just as I started reading the incredible book Exegesis by the best scifi writer of all time I start listening to some random post-metal album I donwloaded yesterday, of which I start to really enjoy so I jump to WinAmp to check the title of the song.

Spooky.

EDIT: Damn you YouTube extension!

Bought a network unlocked Galaxy Nexus, unlocked, flashed 4.0.4 yakju on it before the wife got home, put in her SIM... and it's network locked.

Ugh. Reflashed to 4.0.2, locked, and back to the dodgy store tomorrow.

To stream Netflix?

Use Unblock-Us, easy.
Seriously, how the fuck does this work? It somehow uses my regular internet quota but I can get shit like Hulu and all that crap. Are region-locked YT videos working too? And US Steam prices?

What is this trickery?!?

If it works with the UK BBC iPlayer, I'm signing up. $5 a month is a fucking steal.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-04-20/illegal-downloading-more-like-trespass-than-theft/3963688

He says illegal downloading is more similar to the crime of trespass than it is to theft.

"To say that there was a trespass is traditionally understood to mean that there was a temporary use of someone's property without permission," he said.

"If someone trespasses on your property it means that they've come uninvited but they haven't deprived you of use. They haven't deprived you of the basic possession of the property.

"But to say that someone's stolen something is to say something much more serious. It's probably the single most substantial form of property crime that we have.

"And that's exactly what the music and movie industries in the United States would like to happen. They want people to think that illegal downloading is just as bad and should be punished just as severely."

Professor Green says that stance needs to change.

"I think we really need to re-think that because people seem to be resisting it," he said.

"And unless the criminal law ultimately is consistent with people's norms and the way people think about it then it has the effect of sort of undermining the effectiveness and the legitimacy of the law if people really don't take the law seriously."

Also the ceo of iinet made a great point, that the lack of legal avenues to get these things is the main reason illegal downloading is so high >.< They are still so behind the times...

Fuck Channel 10 and their F1 bullshit. Thank you VPNs and (probably) illegal streaming sites.

I assume it makes anything who checks your IP think you are in another country so that you can effectively access content locked for that country. Like in those movies that have something about hacking as a plot point where the signal gets bounced around so they don't know where the bad guy is.

Or like mailing a package from a warehouse in America to an address in America where it is then sent on to us in Australia.

Or wizard magic.

I'm going the latter. I checked on a "check your IP" website and it mentioned my provider and address and credit card number and Commonwealth Bank PIN and everything.

PS. Fuck these GAF database problems. Shitting me off.

I spent most of today playing Fez. Game's alright for your pretty standard wanky indie game with a cheerful exterior hiding HIDDEN SECRETS.

I spent about three hours with a nodepad in hand, decrypting the game's fake languages and clues. Was actually a pretty rewarding experience, and made me feel relatively clever by doing so.

My review is a bit of a love affair to that experience. (not posting the image here because it says naughty, naughty things)

Unfortunately I don't actually want to play more of it to finish up the remaining mysteries. Once I hit credits I am usually done with a game, unfortunately. Shame the game wants you to do two playthroughs in order to dig the deepest into its story.

For $17 on the Xbox store, I dunno. I don't know if I can recommend it, because I have a special affinity for puzzles and spending too much on video games. But if you want a game that genuinely stumps you (note: I had no trouble in Braid or Portal or Limbo or QUBE in terms of setbacks, so I consider Fez harder than those), it's a decent experience.

Maybe wait for the PC version, assuming there is one.

Probably just doesn't want his game to be decompiled to shit and back and have all the secrets blown across the innernet.

I give him three months til he realises longterm sales for console DD are garbage.

Whole thing has been pulled apart in the OT anyway (some great discussion in there too).

Yeah I 100% expect he spun that bullshit for the same reason Remedy did, that Microsoft exclusivity was too big a check to say no to. Steam will end up being a bigger money earner for them though.

Hell, with Alan Wake becoming profitable with hours on Steam I hope to hell that more developers thinking about exclusivity think twice.

Though probably a lot easier to say yes to a buncha money now for being exclusive rather than potential money for going the Steam route.

I don't actually give a shit, mind you. Guy can publish his game however he wants. I'm never one to care about what Notch or Blow or Fish Fucking Sticks do in their dramatised twitter lifestyle.

Because, secretly, I'd be telling people to eat some goddam dicks too. Some goddamn sloppy fuckin dicks. Yeah. Go me.

If I knew how to do that I'd be making easy money doing that all day!

@remz - no idea! That's the second Galaxy Nexus I've bought from that place so NFI what they're doing. I assume they're getting cheap contract phones, dumping the contract and unlocking the phones.

I have so many games to play yet I continue to replay MW3 for the 20th time. :/

Yeah after 5 or whatever years they would have been over the moon to get some money to pay the damn bills while they slowly eke out Fez.

Guinness sucks anyway :p

(It's alright, but always seemed to me it was England's substitute for lunch - I can never drink or eat anything after a Guinness because it's just so damn filling)

That's the point! Who needs food when you have Guinness! And bacon! You can sustain yourself on a month long Bacon & Guinness bender!

Also, Guinness always tastes so... flat. Like, next to no carbonation or whatever. I LIKE SHIT TO HAVE FIZZ TO IT.

... wonder what would happen if I poured carbonated water into a Guinness. Bad things, probably. Bad things.

Gazunta what's your stall at supanova called?

How long was the line. There were lines around the block for the new burrito place the other day.

Also where is it?

Went from the commonwealth bank to the strip club near the ugg boots store across from EB games. I was person No. 177, and they had 200 free burgers.

Its where krispy kremes used to be. Frikken awesome layout, looks hella nice inside.

EDIT: On an unrelated note, does anyone think its wierd having free hugs in the title, and the banner being "fuck off we're full"?

Burgers, banking, naked ladies, trendy footwear and video games all within close proximity of one another:O

Also, I didn't know crunchyroll was a thing. Watched a few episodes of Squid Girl lol.

Kotaku au won a lizzie I think?

Yeah boy. Four in a row for me with best gaming coverage. Two with Australian 360 and now two with Kotaku.

The real story was Tracey though -- she won best game journo, and took out the overall journo prize. First games journo to do it. Awesome.

She will crush us all Jintor. She must be destroyed.

Give me deputy editorship and free me from this law-studying hell! And together we shall be more powerful than you possibly can have imagined!!!

You know, most of the time I'm prepared to cut most online stores a little slack. Even Zavvi. But in this instance, I'm about to crack some skulls:

Note the order date and expected delivery date. For reference, it's now the 21st of April. 20th (probably) in the UK and I just received an email saying the Edgar Wright box set STILL hasn't been shipped. I expect another mentioning the Film Noir set any minute now...

lol, there is a poster at Pacific Fair advertising a Make Your Own Cupcake event, and it says "the first 1,000 children will receive an apron and a hat".

Sounds intense.

Never saw the appeal of lining up in huge lines for free stuff, though it seems most of Brisbane says otherwise :p

Will check them out in a few weeks when the lines have died down.

For some reason, the only time I ever saw people lining up around the block in Brisbane was to get tickets to see Flash Gordon.

Next biggest line is that sushi place on Adelaide St.

...which is crazy busy from 12:01 noon onwards yet can be easily accessed from 11am with minimal wait. CBD office workers are weird like that. Why wait for 20 minutes in a queue by simply taking your lunch break a wee bit earlier?

Further up the mall is Top Sushi which sells similar ultra-westernised sushi (pretty much just KFC and mayonnaise wrapped in seaweed paper) for 30c less per piece and is arguably better with less wait than the one on Adelaide Street.

Perth has Jaws Sushi, which is pretty fucking rad.
