So, 3DS XL appraisal:
+ Transfer of all 3DS content possible
+ Massive screen
+ Improved battery life
+ Matte finish
- No 2nd stick
- Baffling decision to drop the AC adaptor
Overall they really should have made the layout the same as the Wii U Gamepad, two sliders up top and buttons/dpad lower down. The fact the system is larger would mean that human sized hands could grasp the lower buttons/dpad easily without cramping hard.
edit: wait, CCP has two extra shoulder buttons too, so a L1/L2 R1/R2 would have been unlikely.
I guess we can expect a 3DSXLCCPXL addon if MonHun3G/4 come out here.

Sounds like that's just for Japan.
AC adaptor is packed in with US. Not sure about EU yet. Just JPN doesn't have it. (A friend says AC Adaptors are $14 and in all electronic stores over there, so that might be part of the reasoning)
I do like where they are taking 3DS though. Its bigger, it has more of a console design (matching their Wii U line) and the games lineup is growing at an insane level in Japan, slightly less so in EU/NA.
It's almost being positioned as their default system rather than the home console.
edit: regarding the AC adaptor, no huge drama for me but I guess it would be an issue for new adopters. It would be a silly move if they dont include one in the western territories but at least that sounds unlikely.

I was more hype for this and the KH3D demo than the 3DSXL announcement tbh. Like what I've played so far, but I expected it to hit the mark given that indies zero, who made Retro Game Challenge/the Game Center CX games, are behind it.

I need to repair the P6 touchscreen connector in my DS Lite.
As you can see in that link, it's a fiddly soldering job requiring a 0.5mm tip or smaller. I have an iron but the tip's too big.
Can I get a new tip to fit a standard iron or do I need to match the specific iron I have? It's a cheapo old one I can't find on Google.
Is there somewhere I could go in Melbourne to get the soldering done?
Sometimes I think the internet is far worse than it used to be. Seems I spend more time trawling through useless sites made entirely of links and stolen content. /rant
