Oh, WHAT A SHAME YOU DIDN'T ACTUALLY FUCKING VOTE FOR IT ON STEAM WHEN I ASKED, YOU CUNT.

IT WAS CHEAPER TO BUY IT ON XBLA FFS

PLUS YOU DIDN'T VOTE FOR PRIMORDIA FOR ME SO LALALALALALAAAAA

So, just came back from seeing Skyfall. Not bad! I still didn't work out what the significance of "Skyfall" (the word) was.
It was
THE NAME OF THE HOUSE HE GREW UP IN, IT WAS A PIVOTAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT POINT TYING THE PLOT BACK INTO HOW HIS EXISTENCE IS DEFINED BY BEING 007, THAT HE WAS BORN FOR THE JOB AND THAT HE CAN STILL DO IT BETTER THAN ANYONE IF HE BELIEVES IN HIMSELF AGAIN. IT EVEN HAS SKYFALL WRITTEN OUT THE FRONT!

Sorry for the old reply but I forgot all about the post :/

Also $7.50 is still a fair bit to pay, I would wait for it to hit the $5 mark or 600 allards if you buy them $1 per 100 like I do.

Work doesn't roster me for today (retail work). Family impulsively takes a road trip specifically because they didn't roster me for today. Get called to come in earlier today. Told them I can't make it. Manager gets annoyed and says I have to tell them 3 weeks in advance when I'm unavailable.

Am I in the wrong here? I'm pretty sure they can't actually expect me to wait at home like I was on call, on the days I'm not rostered. If they really expect that then I want on call payment or they should have told me to expect a call the day before.

Pro tip: Don't answer call's from work. Get everything emailed. Rosters included. If they won't do that then go into work and check your roster on your own time, tell them you were asleep or in a movie or in a Hospital and couldn't have the phone on.

That on call stuff is bullshit to allow poor management of staff. If someone calls in sick they should already have someone on emergency.

Whether or not you are in the wrong is dependant on your understanding with your employer.

Are you 'on call', as in do they normally do that?

3 weeks in advance is stupid if its just a day trip.

Saw Skyfall today. Pretty good all round although I have one problem.
It wasn't connected to CR/QoS as much as I thought it would be. Unless that WAS the head of the organisation behind those two films?

Anyway, as a standalone triology its easier better than the weak ending to Batman by Nolan and probably only bested by LOTR.

It depends on how much a cunt the management want to be if you're working retail casual. Got a copy of your contract on hand? Is the 3 week notice clause in there?

And start looking elsewhere. Because if you need the hours, and they're cunts, you won't have the hours.

Nope.
Standalone. Meant to be a fair while after the first two Craig movies. Much more personal affair.

Ahh OK.

So we are to assume then (QoS discussion) that
Quantum was disbanded/cracked as per the last scene in Russia and the arrest of the 'boyfriend'?

Yep.
At that point they had the intel from the Opera who was involved in the inner circle of Quantum and they must have spent some time afterwards making house calls, like they did to Vespers old lover.

Plus the whole Quantum group plot was pretty spotty and took some leaps of logic to accept. They joys of writers strikes! I wonder if Forster and Craig got writing credit on that?

600 spacebucks is more than $7.50.

600 * 0.0165 = $9.90

.

I get them through eBay, his prices vary day to day. Just wait for them to hit $1 per 100 like they did today.

Rightyo.

In that case I'm happy to say then that at least they stopped before stretching it out longer than necessary.

If Skyfall is
standalone as you say
then I am much more happy with it. It did have a little bit in common with another favourite action film of mine.

Die Hard With a Vengeance

Only got called in to come in a few times before. Most of my hours come from when they roster me, which they put on a sheet in the staff room 2 weeks in advance. I thought the days I'm not rostered were my own free time and I don't need to tell work I'm busy on those days.

I'm just gonna assume the manager mistakingly thought I was rostered today.

PC > 360.

And I actually did vote for Primordia because there wasn't anything else on there I wanted.

I'll wait then, old chap. Cheers.

Know what the main problem I had with it was?
"Oh, we need to get away from that burning building that was attacked by fuckloads of men with guns as soon as possible. It's night-time, SO LETS USE A FUCKING TORCH SO ANY SURVIVING, GUN TOTING KILLERS CAN SEE WHERE WE'RE GOING." Fuck me, that was daft.

I liked that the island they went to was actually that island I read about a little while ago before this movie was announced that was abandoned yonks ago. That was cool.

Also liked the metaphor (I think) that was with the Aston going up in flames, it signifies the death of old-style Bond plotlines? There was far less womanising and goofiness in Skyfall than others, IMO.

Also, I need to rewarch the other two Craig ones. In fact, I don't think I've watched the one that wasn't Casino Royale. But I have played Blood Stone, so that kinda makes up for it.

Die Hard With a Vengeance
Fuck me, I love that movie. As far as blowing shit up goes, it really doesn't get much better. With the possible exception of the first movie and True Lies (but the first movie really only blowed up one or two things, whereas the third blowed up a stack of stuff).

Daniel Craig is the Best Bond.

As for the film, I cant think of any real shortcomings, even the one you mentioned
light or no light, they would have searched the church next as it was the only other building. Plus, a torch would be important for crossing a frozen lake safely

Also, Bond would kick the shit out of Batman.

I get down a few times each year, but this one made an impact.... Move considering.

I'm resigned to the fact it might be ten years til I can move back.

But there's no jobs down there!

I thought about moving to tassie for a fresh start, but didn't really find anything on seek so i quickly bailed on that idea.

If they even made it to the church without the torch, it would've been enough for Benicio Lopez or whatever to not follow them there. I don't think he even thought of looking until he saw the torch because he didn't know there was a secret tunnel and figured they burned with his house. Also, I wish there were more gadgets than just that gun, but the Aston made up for it so that's okay.

Been a while since I've gone through all the Bonds, but I'd say best to worst is...

Connery, Craig, Dalton, Brosnan, Lazenby, Moore.

Haven't seen the one with Niven so can't comment. Moore may have been a good Bond but I just couldn't see past his films.

Well I suppose I should add in a disclaimer that I haven't seen Connery/Moore/Dalton Bonds in YEARS. Moonraker was a fun film I do remember that.

I think what I love about the Craig films is they are a lot more believable in the sense that the gadgets/tech use is restrained and plausible, and explosions are very very rare. Cars flipping over dont explode. Cars shot with bullets dont explode. It just feels more realistic, with a grounding in modern times.

Some of the old Bond films really played up the suave womaniser/fantasy gadgets/wry winks to the audience, and as someone not growing up in that era of film I find it hard to go back to personally. Not to say it's bad, just not my thing.

It is. Any extra time is 'I don't have to call you and you don't have to come in', at least it is with my work.

I'm just playing with you. You said you wished there were more gadgets in the film. I said 'did you miss the radio?' as a joke. I take it no train crashed through your ceiling just now?

:p
OH I GET IT.

You suck :p

But yeah, I don't really have a basis for comparison as far as Bond movies go so I'm pretty much only judging it on it's merits as a movie and a loose idea of what I feel Bond movies are (in general). Knowing that, I did actually enjoy it. Didn't feel at all like a 2-and-a-half hour movie.

I don't think any Vita retail games I've bought have come with a manual

Some do, some dont. I just wanted to see if the ones that dont are meant to. MGS has a nice one.

No. I like the three Craig ones since they all are substantial films too. No quick resolution, lots of different stages to the action/story and they never outstay their welcome as films.

Take the final section of Skyfall. That in itself was a great movement. I had one thought in particular:
Home Alone :D

I would have told them I require 3 weeks advance notice of working hours. Basically they are being a massive cunt about it. Start looking elsewhere.
