That's what it reminded me of! I couldn't think of it at the time. Brilliant.Take the final section of Skyfall. That in itself was a great movement. I had one thought in particular:Home Alone

Just a little context to my extended family.
I think I have food poisoning or some form of it. I'm beyond weak, I can barely lift anything with my arms. Everything feels funny. It feels like a quick and brutal attack of a cold, I'm pretty sure it's not a cold though.
I nearly passed out on the toilet a few hours ago, That was fun. I'm guessing going from a super warm bed to the cold of the night, was a bad idea. Entire body was sweating.
So, As someone who has never had this before, Any tips or tricks? Should I try and induce vomiting or just wait it out and it will pass through over the next day or two?
Now to try and get some more sleep.
assassins creed 1 and 2 bought. Guess I should finally play them.
PC > 360.
Know what the main problem I had with it was?"Oh, we need to get away from that burning building that was attacked by fuckloads of men with guns as soon as possible. It's night-time, SO LETS USE A FUCKING TORCH SO ANY SURVIVING, GUN TOTING KILLERS CAN SEE WHERE WE'RE GOING." Fuck me, that was daft.
I liked that the island they went to was actually that island I read about a little while ago before this movie was announced that was abandoned yonks ago. That was cool.
Also liked the metaphor (I think) that was with the Aston going up in flames, it signifies the death of old-style Bond plotlines? There was far less womanising and goofiness in Skyfall than others, IMO.
Also, I need to rewarch the other two Craig ones. In fact, I don't think I've watched the one that wasn't Casino Royale. But I have played Blood Stone, so that kinda makes up for it.
Fuck me, I love that movie. As far as blowing shit up goes, it really doesn't get much better. With the possible exception of the first movie and True Lies (but the first movie really only blowed up one or two things, whereas the third blowed up a stack of stuff).
It's the only way you'll be able to appreciate GiantBomb's Biggest Disappointment of 2012
of which they previously gave a 4/5 to in their review.

Their biggest disappointment was 1/5th of a point? That's an effin good year. Or shoddy review standards.Which is perfectly acceptable? Game was a disappointment while at the same time still decent.

If you go in thinking everything is going to be 5/5 and then they end up being 4/5 which makes you think they're the biggest disappointment of the year...
To retire to maybe.Tasmania is the best state.
Serious? I thought you posted that you voted for something elseAnd I actually did vote for Primordia because there wasn't anything else on there I wanted.

If they even made it to the church without the torch, it would've been enough for Benicio Lopez or whatever to not follow them there. I don't think he even thought of looking until he saw the torch because he didn't know there was a secret tunnel and figured they burned with his house. Also, I wish there were more gadgets than just that gun, but the Aston made up for it so that's okay.
It is indeed a parody, Sellers does a great job even if the whole thing is as much of a mess on screen as it was to create. I have a soft spot for it due to the absurd nature of the story. I recommend watching it at least once, with alcohol if possible.Isn't the original casino royale more of a parody? Its not really a 'bond' film.

Don't worry too much, I know people in our area that have gone 12+ months without putting up ANYTHING. I wouldn't be able to do it though. Hang some sheets up at night if need be.First night in new house. Feels very weird without any highway noise. I can't seem to get any sleep, and without blinds it feels like I'm being watched.
Rep, any update on the blinds? Can you give me a tentative price? Thanks.
Probably more from getting up from laying down. Happens to me every now and then when I am extremely dehydrated. Feels fucking awful hey, I don't want to die on the toilet. :/I nearly passed out on the toilet a few hours ago, That was fun. My biggest problem with Skyfall (which I loved) waswhat the shit were the other 00s doing? They see a criminal attack the head of MI6 in public and what, they just think "you know what? I'm sure Bond's got this."
And at the end, with the introduction of, I feel bad putting this in even in spoilers, new old characters shall we say? it kind of felt like the end of the prequels to me. Like the old Bonds take place after Skyfall. Which obviously doesn't make sense with the Aston and you know Cold War and shit, but still.
No reviews I have read from Giant Bomb have convinced me they are overly different to the rank and file of the media industry.Haha oh my. I thought the giantbomb people thought they were outside the hype cycle. Shouldnt expect more from gamespot people.
I actually have to agree with reggie for once. The nature of expectations means that even a 4/5 game can still be disappointing. Especially AC3, with AC2 and Brotherhood being some of the best games of their respective years, it was expected that with another change of setting and the expected conclusion of the Desmond story, that AC3 would be equally amazing as its predecessors.
What else can win it for them anyways, half of them loved Mass Effect 3 so that's out. Plus there's the whole thing about the review only being done by one person while this award was chosen by five people.
Just a little context to my extended family.
I really don't think that a 4/5 should ever be called disappointing. It's part of the 7-10 review scale issue, where a 7 has become disappointing, 8 has become flawed, 9 is the expectation and 10 is moneyhats.Assasins Creed 3 is not a 1/5 or a 2/5 game, so at some point your arguing whether it should be a 3/5 or 4/5, which is just dumb. Game was a disappointment, with many, many fucking problems, and yet it was up there with some of the best I've played all year. Recieving 4/5 and most disappointing still makes sense.

Only holds fast if you think reviews are objective. If you recognise that they're subjective when reviewed by different people everything falls into place.

If you (the game site) are not going to be accountable or referential to the very scores that you hand out, that's a concern. You can't hand out grades to the games if, at the end of year, you admit that they don't actually hold much merit.Only holds fast if you think reviews are objective. If you recognise that they're subjective when reviewed by different people everything falls into place.
As a group they should stand behind the scores that they hand out. You can't give a grade for a review and then use the "well, that was one person's opinion" excuse when it suits you to be contrary. As a group you should stand by that one person's opinion, otherwise don't offer it as a determination for your entire site.First and foremost most disappointing is awarded by 5(?) people, AC3 was reviewed by one.
I agree that it's all about the expectations. But when you give something a 4 points out of a possible 5 points and that it the most disappointing thing all year? That highlights an issue with your expectations. No one should have expectations of 5/5 games; that's unreasonable, unfair on the developers and will only lead to you feeling that 4/5 games are the most disappointing game in the entire year. To restate what I wrote above:Second, a game not being allowed to recieve both a 4/5 and most disappointing... Says who? It wasn't a terrible year for games (wasn't amazing either, but that's not my point), AC3 being most disappointing in 2012 when it's up against Mass Effect 3 (and pretty much that alone) isn't much of a stretch. It's all about expectations.
At no point should 4/5 be a disappointment and should never, ever be a "Biggest Disappointment of the Year." What that's implying is that a game that received a 1 point deviation from your expectation to reality is the most deviation any game received that year. At that point, I can only assume that a) Every other expectation you had that year was spot on, b) your expectations for the game were unfairly high (so much so that they were expecting 6/5), or c) your review scores are broken.
I'll get into this when I'm not on a phone - if I can bare it - but I'll just say now that assassins creed 3 isn't anything more than a 2/5. Subjectivity and all of that, but I think Ryan might be a bit fucked in the head when it comes to expensive games.
I agree with the core idea that a 4/5 game can be most disappointing. I feel that mass effect 3 deserves a 3 or 4, and is still the game that killed that franchise for me.
I just think Ryan is out of touch with that series. Assassins creed 3 was atrocious, and while I never went to giant bomb for their reviews to fill in a gap in my own experience, it does make me a bit more skeptical of him. Nothing dodgy, more that... Ryan's opinions aren't relevant to me anymore.
I'll expand on that later i suppose.
You should be happy that the other guys in the bombcrew agreed with you enough to give it most disappointing game then!
I think it's a mistake to view reviews as representing the whole site, comprised of many different people full of many different opinions, when it's really one person's opinion.
Giant Bomb especially makes it clear to distinguish each staff member, their personalities and their likes and dislikes. An AC3 review by Ryan Davis doesn't and definitely shouldn't mean Jeff, Vinny, Brad or Patrick have to feel the same way about the game.
