I think I have food poisoning or some form of it. I'm beyond weak, I can barely lift anything with my arms. Everything feels funny. It feels like a quick and brutal attack of a cold, I'm pretty sure it's not a cold though.

I nearly passed out on the toilet a few hours ago, That was fun. I'm guessing going from a super warm bed to the cold of the night, was a bad idea. Entire body was sweating.

So, As someone who has never had this before, Any tips or tricks? Should I try and induce vomiting or just wait it out and it will pass through over the next day or two?

Now to try and get some more sleep.

Yeah, plenty of water, and plenty of rest. It sucks while it lasts, but it'll pass soon enough.

assassins creed 1 and 2 bought. Guess I should finally play them.

I don't really have enthusiasm for this topic but,

I like to think I have a pretty good grasp on GB's own reviewing system, and the personalities that write the reviews. Someone posted in the GB OT a little guide I can't quite remember, but my takeaway from it was to subtract 1 star from every Ryan review. Hyperbole aside, I am totally supportive of GB's review system, and the transparency of the personalities though podcasts and video content is absolutely perfect for knowing each reviewer's tastes in games. I've never, ever gone to Giant Bomb for opinions on current games. I go there, I subscribe to Giant Bomb, and go through their content daily, because I think they're the most entertaining game media persons out there. They're funny, they're occasionally insightful with inside baseball of the industry and especially of retro games and arcade/pinball machines.

And their reviews are worthless to me. I'm going to play 4/5ths of the games they review anyway, and I don't treat reviews as purchasing advice so much as... conformation bias. Or something equally vain.

But, all that aside, yo it's fuckin dumb to give Assassin's Creed 3 a 4/5. That game is just insipid, hollow, fundamentally broken. It's a bad fuckin' game. It's not amusing bad, it's not worth going through because some kind of interesting dressing because there are no interesting qualities to the game.

Though, if there's anything I feel I should really complain about with the disparity between review and score and award, is that the review isn't very good. It's a mechanical description of the game. His review reads like a feature set of the game. Which shocks me, because that review I recall was several weeks late from the retail release of the game.

I'm not going to tear through the review, you can read it yourself. And I've already written more than I intended, and said more than I meant to say.

I'll finish by making it clear that I don't really give a shit. I love Giantbomb, but I'm not their audience for reviews. The disparity is more amusing than outright unsettling.

Now if you'll excuse me I have two and a half hour podcast to listen to where these fucking idiots don't vote Journey as the game of the year.

Giant bomb to me are indistinguishable from ign and gamespot and 1up.

Eurogamer, games tm, edge are all at least well reasoned most times. Retro gamer are gods amongst men.

Kotaku, joystiq, polygon are like a current affair and today tonight, only worse. They are the markot opinions of games journalism.

Sony rumored to unveil its 5-inch, 1080p Xperia Z smartphone at CES, launch it just a week later

hichong_1_102_845b771c3e8f75436030f7af7a6ddb80.jpg

It's looking increasingly likely that Sony will unveil a new 1080p, 5-inch smartphone at CES 2013 to compete with the Galaxy Note II and Droid DNA. We saw some pictures of the rumored Sony Yuga a few weeks ago, but now Chinese site ePrice has posted images of what appears to be the same device with that large, 1080p screen powered on. It looks like Sony will officially name the Yuga the Xperia Z and will likely make it its flagship smartphone for the first half of 2013 — unsurprising, considering the size and density of the display. As for when we might see the device, ePrice believes it'll be available on January 15th, just a week after its unveiling at CES 2013.

To me, it's the quality entertainment they provide, not their opinions. Which was the same reason I used to be into 1up / gfw, and of course why I followed gamespot. So even if you didn't mean it to, the comparison was vaguely complimentary. By comparison, RPS and Idle Thumbs are where I go for opinions. They tend to find games I've never heard of, and their detailings are fascinating even if I don't play many of the games they mention.

Yo, where do I buy cheap Virtue's Last Reward? Reptile?

I think your opinion of AC3 is pure hyperbole. The game has many problems, but it is in no way bad. It suffered from poor development and as a result some of the gameplay systems aren't fully realized or well implemented and the story goes into dumb territory, but it still is a fun playing game that has it's moments. The naval battles in that game are fucking great for starters, and the combat and free running are still how they've always been except for being improved. It is not a bad game.

Welp, starting next month I'll be moving my monthly XBLA analysis from Gamasutra to another site.

Who's best to talk to regarding a monthly article like that with pay? Polygon? Kotaku? IGN? Some of you guys have probably dealt with them before.

Serrels at Kotaku AU would be all over that!

I absolutely disagree.

The freerunning was so sticky it stopped me from enjoying nearly all of that game. The combat I didn't mind as much, but it was still the weakest since the first. You may think I'm being hyperbolic, but even in spite of that, Assassin's Creed 3 is a bad game. It's a very expensive bad game.

There were exactly two moments in that game where I was enjoying myself. The start, and the power fantasy desmond level. Everything else wasn't only disappointing, it was poorly designed, unfun and lacked anything to keep me playing it aside from the morbid curiosity of seeing how far one of my favourite franchises could crash and burn so poorly.

And by god did it crash and burn.

But also you have an avatar from the room you don't have real opinions

3DS or Vita?

3DS. I have no idea if one version is better than the other. But I might as well get some fucking use out of my $300 street fighter machine rather than go out and buy a three hundred dollar bullshit japanese porno game machine.

Vita is only $200!

3ds version has a bug that glitches your save if you do it in a certain room or something, if you Google it I get the impression it is deal with it able.

Both versions are $39 at OzGameShop, 3ds is currently out of stock though.

Got my OGS order in the post today: Shinobido, Katamari and MGS Collection.

Only MGS comes with a manual.

Is this normal?
Let me know how Shinobido is since I really liked the Tenchu games back in the day.

I think most of my physical games didn't come with physical manuals, but all games do seem to have digital manuals in the menu before you start it.

Just out of curiosity is there much demand for it?

Seems forty dollerydoos is about expected price. I might order it from some place that actually has it, mind you. Cheers.

Did you do the naval suff? I don't understand how you can say everything was poorly designed and disappointing if you've played the naval stuff. They could make a full game out of those missions alone and it would be awesome.

And The Room is a masterpiece.

I played it twice. The two times in the story where it forced you to. It was the least bad thing in that game, yet it wasn't fun at aaaall. At the best of times it was simply uninvolved, at the worst it was slow yet never methodical, detached from the world at large, its attempt at broadening the scale of the world somehow resulted in me feeling everything was much smaller.

Give me Mass Effect's fucking pacman minigame any day over those fucking boat missions.

Serious? I thought you posted that you voted for something else

:/
Turns out I actually voted for Hotline Miami, because you didn't actually ask me to vote for Primordia. You just said you did :/
It has already been $5 3 or 4 times! Voted for Primordia since I like adventure games. Also since I really should get around to buying it >_<
And besides, more people here said they wanted Hotline Miami anyway, so I was doing it for the greater good.

Oh man, Tony Greig. That fucking sucks :(

I'll let you know how shinobido is, but I won't get time with it til next week thanks to holiday driving.

Touch my katamari is good though. I love the kings dialogue.

'You can press start to skip dialogue altogether. '

'BUT DON'T DO THAT.
IT IS RUDE.'

Is that real voices? I would love to have a decent Katamari and could do with that sort of humour, too. Hopefully it's downloadable on PSN.

Nice little tribute on channel 9 for Tony. Quite enjoyable.

Hussey retired. :-o

I'm fuckin' crying over here :(

Champion player who finally got his chance at 30 and never looked back. One of our most important players without a doubt. The side is much stronger when he is in it. His partnerships with Clarke this year have been gratifying to watch.

Speaking of that.

Want a 7 inch tablet thats good for cheap!?

Amoled screen.
SD card.
Other stuff!

Its like a Nexus 7 but from Toshiba, its got the same cpu/gpu, but its got a back camera and the aforementioned stuff.

And its only 249 bucks. As expensive as a nexus 7 but better!

http://www.wireless1.com.au/Tablets/Toshiba/TOSHIBA-AT270-002-TABLET.html

Cameras are crap apparently, but hte only problem was it was over priced at 500+ bucks. But now its the same price as a nexus 7 but with a better screen and SD CARD!

I would get it if I didnt have a nexus 7!

Yeah, won't be able to say "oh wait it's okay, Hussey's in next" anymore when Aus is boned:(

He also seems like the nicest guy ever!

Hussey, what a legend. Has saved as many games with stubborn batting as Border or Bevan ever did. Will be difficult to replace.

Reptile, cheap walking dead anywhere?

One of my friends hasn't played it.

All 5 episodes can be had through a US account for 800 allards total for the next few hours only.
Someone on GAF today linked to the awesome VPN app TunnelBear. Free use for up to 500MB a month, more than enough to log in and buy shit! Means you can use the webfront which is handy.

Also means you can get around the GMG region pricing bullshit and get XCOM for $17.50, as well as Civ5 Gods & Kings expansion for like $4 on Sunday!

The main story ones were the worst in the game. The best ones are where they let you loose against multiple ships (no guided shit) in a massive storm where you're also fighting the wind and the waves. You missed out.

God damn how many menus do I have to go through to quit AC1? :S

Alt-f4 = win.
Start up game...

"CLOUD SAVE OUT OF SYNC. TIME TO SYNC COMPLETION: 10 MINUTES..."

Also, FINALLY Fall of Cybertron is cheap(ish) on Steam @ $25 (cheaper than the US! Woo!). Looks like I'm buying it, along with the DLC that gives me G1 Optimus Prime. Shame there's no other G1 bots :(

Don't worry too much, I know people in our area that have gone 12+ months without putting up ANYTHING. I wouldn't be able to do it though. Hang some sheets up at night if need be.

I'll stop in today and grab the prices and information I will need, I'll shoot it through on a PM along with the other details.

Thanks mate. I did put some cardboard boxes from the furniture in the bedroom and bathrooms, and that will suffice for the time being.

I spent the whole day buying stuff and assembling furniture. Tiring work....and tomorrow I'm driving to the 12 apostles and back. (won't go as far as Warrnambool though :p)
