I'd join the Greens, only I'm actually interested in governing the country.

Why is that?

i think Christine Milne is a terrible representative for green/progressive politics, though I may have to backtrack on my claim and vote for Simon Sheihk for the Senate in the ACT. The Labor party doesn't need my vote and I hold a deep hatred for Zed Seselja, who toppled the one of the few more liberal members of the Liberal party in a pre selection just as nasty as anything the Labor party can come up with.

I quite like Mana Bar, it's just so damn small. Good memories of getting drunk with one of the owners after winning trivia.

I think it'd be a shame for it to not exist. Stuff like it, and PAX are important for all their flaws just because the very nature of it is a positive idea that nobody else is going to do.

Okay, so you hate everyone :)

Heh, nicely done. :)

Tis sad, but not unexpected.

It was pretty bad when they could of made something good out of it. It was small and cramped (my bedroom is bigger, excluding the back guitar hero room), people that ran it wouldn't let you change the games on the 360/PS3 and drinks seemed more of a rip off than the usual.

AusGaf, are there not Aussie mirrors for PSN downloads? Trying to download some PS+ free games and it's slow as. :(

LOL. A week after I order all that shit from PCCasegear, copping a 2% credit card charge on a $1500 order, they start accepting paypal. Wankers.

It's fucked. Mine download fine speed wise, however they inexplicably stop. So I have to pause/resume them a bunch of times. Its seriously almost enough to stop me buying a ps4.

Oh I've probably missed it but have you posted pics of the sexy beast yet? Some pics of your computer would also be good.:)
LOL, nothing has even arrived yet, between credit card names not matching, and a couple things not being in stock. I will post up when I get stuff.
YOU KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY PRECIOUS DEADMA-- oh, sorry, I got him confused with someone else. You can have the dirty home wrecker.

MOVE ON, IT WAS NEVER REAL.

So Yug I take it PA were pleased with PAX and allowed you to live? :)

Yup :)

I'm heading over to work on PAX Prime in a few days, NO REST EVER AGAIN!

I'm finding all the Mana Bar comments around the web frustrating. We did the best we could with the situation - the 11pm closing restriction put on us from the beginning was a killer. We wanted later of course, but the council was convinced that drinking + games = violent behaviour.

As for every other comments (too small, not enough games, etc), with all due respect, none of you ran a video game bar, or experienced the challenges we had to go though, or everything we LEARNT about how to or not do things in Brisbane before we opened Melbourne. The idea was to create a friendly social environment where gamers and non-gamers could feel comfortable. And it was, first and foremost, a BAR, because that was where we made our money. I never wanted to have a cover charge.

Perhaps the most frustrating thing for me, is to see the bar get to such a point where people actually feel like it wasn't a very inclusive place. That was never my original vision for the place, and certainly wasn't like that when I was running the joint. I haven't been directly involved in Mana Bar for a long time now though, and I guess that shows.

Ausgaf? more like University Socialist Collective Gaf!
Pretty much. It seems like everyone got similar results.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I never got to go there. Might see if I can pop down before September, cause I heard it was much better than the Brisbane one.

I like the Brisbane one, btw. It is a little small but the drinks are great and it's a fun place to hang out. Needs more comfy chairs maybe.

The Melbourne one fits about 20 people...

Really?! I heard it had three rooms, and was bigger than the one-room Brisbane one. I kind of feel like even though the space is better utilized with people standing, the atmosphere suits little nooks for people to play slightly more privately. But of course that would require a bigger, more expensive space.

I've only had one bad experience at Mana Bar in the times I've went, but granted I've not been for a while.
It is quite the trip for me, and my current girlfriend hates crowds so trying to find places to get drunk in Melbourne that doesn't feature that has proved pretty impossible.

Still though, I have great memories of the place and I rather doubt there'll ever be another bar in which I'll end up upstairs watching Kenny Vs. Spenny DVDs so it'll always be special to me.

Also Meg is the best looking purple haired lady I've seen.

I had hoped to do some design work for them...and now they're out of business. I came away from PAX Australia wanting to some graphic design work for them, so let's hope I'm not a jynx.

Yeah, seems a bit off to me. ALP is pretty conservative socially, and middle of the road at best economically.

Agreed. Their placement in the social axis is definitely misrepresented, especially if it's meant to be based on the "big ticket" issues in the questions.

I don't see Labor as a progressive party and whilst I'd prefer Labor in government to the Coalition, I hope people use their preferences to show Labor that their bullshit with gunning for a surplus, refugees, unemployment assistance, higher education funding and gay marriage isn't bring endorsed.

I won't bother posting my graph thingy as I think you all know where I stand by now.
