Their shows are always 10/10. Stupid amount of talent in their bones.

The fact that they were on the show is evidence enough that they are huge fans as they don't do shit unless they want to. Hell, they haven't done an interview in 10 years unless they want to, let alone be on a satricial political show. I would assume they get along well with Colbert and wanted to give him a bit of a ratings boost. Like they said, they sell less records these days but make a shitload more money.
That sounds reasonable enough. I guess I shouldn't have gone in expecting some sort of revealing interview with the band. But yeah, 10/10 indeed!

Little by Little is finally growing on me.

God damn it. Just spotted a huntsman on the ceiling. I know they are harmless, but they give me the willies.

Don't worry, I heard they're very gentle when they climb in your mouth.

I'm not scared of spiders, but I have been terrified of a hunstman once. That was because I was a passenger in a car driven by my future mother in law, who is arachnophobic. My wife was in the front passenger seat, I was in the back.

I saw three legs poking out from above the sun visor on the drivers side, and made the comment "Can you please pull over".

Of course, the reply I got was "Why?" so I said "Don't ask questions, please just pull over". So my then girlfriend went into detective mode and looked around the car, spying the legs of the spider which resulted in terror and a slightly more rapid pull-over than I was aiming for.

The worst thing about hunstmen is how uncoordinated they are when frightened. They just drop and you have to chase them and grab them to throw them out of the car.

Yeah, their unpredictability is probably a survival mechanism.

I know you dont like talking about spiders, but how do you feel about orb web weavers and the more stationary spiders? They were the ones that got me fascinated as a kid - just watching these small and patient little spiders build massive and intricate webs. We had one in our yard at sydney that must have lived there for a couple of years.

Funnelwebs are nasty fuckers though. The females look all scary like with shiny black abdomens. The males look like hunstmen, wander large areas in search of a mate, and despite looking innocuous are vastly more poisonous than the female.

Star Wars lore and crap is bad and you should feel bad for going outside anything other that 4,5,6!

Anyone who does should be forced to watch Caravan of Courage with their eyes forcibly held open.

The EU in general sucks, but the Thrawn Trilogy is really good.

/edit oh god I can't ctrl + b or ctrl + i in chrome on forums? :T

That's the book trilogy set after the movies, right?

EDIT: Ooooh Wikipedia says there's also a graphic novel of the Thrawn trilogy.

As long as I see them, orb weavers and the like are fine. I did have a pretty shit experience when I was a kid that involved running down a path in a garden and getting a spider in my mouth. Might have something to do with my current feelings on the matter! I am heaps better than I used to be, my heart used to start racing if I saw anything bigger than a daddy long legs, now I can trap a hunstman and move it outside, still with some trepidation, but is mostly a startle reflex now. Glad I don't live anywhere where funnel webs are common though, I would shit.

Is it wrong that my first thoughts are not how I'm going to pay the bond and advanced rent, the transfer of our electricity, gas and water, but how fast the net can be set up?

No, but outside of GAF you may have some explaining to do.

NBA2K11 for $25 on PlayAsia Also Top Spin 4 and some Baseball thing.

Colbert Report was pretty good, although the Radiohead jokes went a bit far and stopped being funny. Still at the top of his game thankfully and now he has tons of Radiohead fans who will stop in every show!

Johnny Greenwood face expression was inbetween "woah I'm so stoned" and "what the fuck are we doing here?"

Thom always looks like a slacker/pervert..... its that damn sleepy eye.

Stunning!

Also, I'm not familiar with this Colbert Show thing but Thom and co didn't really look like they wanted to be there. Thom also looks like a bum and needs to stop scratching.

Performances were amazing though.
I haven't watched the episode yet but Thom (and possibly the others) is introverted, so if he was being interviewed that would probably be why he didn't seem to want to be there. I presume he seemed withdrawn and gave short responses to questions.

Congratulations. A new net connection might take a week, transfer of an existing one should take 3-4 days. It depends on your provider and the availability of a phone line (unless you're going for naked adsl).

Quick question guys, I've kind of lost track, but what's the latest word on when we should expect the R18 rating to be up and running?

We're on cable, so I'm willing to bet cable ports would have to be installed and what have you. I don't know. It's my housemate's plan.

you need agent permission to install cable ports by the way.

i think if you can't get cable optus/telstra let you switch to ADSL for no cost to continue the plan

Mad. Thanks Choc. I'll investigate it once we work out when, exactly, we're going to move.

Im now on the phone to vicroads, Sitting in the queue. This shit could take a while. I look forward to timing it.
I had to call them up yesterday for a query about renewing my license. Query took around 1 minute, was on hold for 20. This was around 1pm, IIRC.

so who has been playing BF3?

I only know three or four journos who are spitting game about it on twitter

I think I might venture into a physical store to see if I can get an SSD today, or at least an optical drive.

I'm flicking through the BF3 beta performance thread, and looking at screen grabs and it, well, doesn't look that wonderful for all the grunt EA were banging on about needing to run it. No doubt it must look a ton better in motion and without jpg compression, but stills of Crysis seemingly have more going in them? I dunno, I'm not familiar enough with the PC franchises.

I thought it was just me, but only halfway through the first page a few people started commenting on that too.

Took around 15 minutes with a 20 second query.

BF3 doesn't look all that crash hot, That's true. It is missing the ultra textures and shit so maybe that will make a bit of a difference along with the lack of god rays. As always it seems like it looks better in smaller sized screenshots, Some of them in the thread do look pretty darn good.
