I was answering your question?
I'm not going to disagree about their place in music history, but I was making a point about their listenability today. If they had stopped at Help! they'd just be another Beach Boys. If you like early Rock n Roll, that's fine, but not a particularly common taste.
Just another Beach Boys? 99% of bands wish they could be 'just another Beach Boys'. The Beach Boys were amazing. Pet Sounds is one of the best albums ever. That reminded me of when vks was in a thread discussing music on the OT, and he just threw out a "Beach Boys suck" comment thinking it was the common stance towards them, and everyone just jumped on him like crazy, haha.
Anyway, this article explains my feelings:

I don't agree with his last statement, but overall I think he's right.
The problem is people act as if they were just a Backstreet Boys of the 60s for the first half of their career.
Please Please Me, With the Beatles, Help and A Hard Day's Night are all A+ albums,
especially the last two.
As far as listenability goes, if you have any liking for pop music at all, they are all still listenable. Much easier to listen to than Chuck Berry's work, for example.
Anyway, rates staying up is great news for me. Means I can keep my 6.51% on my savings.
