Eagerly awaited, my next phone upgrade. Glad I didn't buy the galaxy s2 last week.codswallop said:Anyone else seen the supposed Galaxy Nexus Prime teaser?

This is gonna be a massive phone -- 4.6" 720p screen. Can't decide if that curve is awesome or going to be impossible to use. Not to mention NFC, a SAMOLED+ screen, and 4G.
I too am eager to see this phone. I really want to see if in the flesh though, but I don't know if it'll be out here.DeathJr said:Eagerly awaited, my next phone upgrade. Glad I didn't buy the galaxy s2 last week.
I'm trying to keep an handle on my purchases. I have to ask myself if I really want to spend 100-250 on certain boxsets of series that I've already watched and chances are won't watch again for the next few years. e.g. Charmed, Smallville, Stargate SG-1. Would love to have those as part of my collection, but turns out I can't really be bothered spending money for DVD quality stuff I've already seen. If they came out on blu-ray some point down the line though....Fusebox said:Fair enough, I made the mistake of buying too many DVD boxsets that only got watched once and then sold once blu rays came out so I prefer my shows on demand now.
Oh my!!HolyCheck said:Yes.
My scrubs boxset from them just arrived yesterday. I plan on keeping it shrink wrapped

All of his friends and those who knew him along with his family are going to be thrust into the spotlight. I feel real sorry for his family and what's about to happen in terms of media exposure, He always seemed to try and not bring that part of his life forward.
I keep on thinking of the iRip program which sponsored the HDH Invitional in 2010.Jintor said:As sad as I am about his passing there are some splendid jokes out there about this already which I guess are automatically bad taste

Yup. I'm glad he was one of the first of his peers to release a statement, especially considering how closely they worked together in the 80s (as is my understanding).jambo said:Insanely poignant!

trinest said:Media exposure for dead people in general is discusting. Death is a private thing and frusting it into the public spotlight even if it was a public figure is discusting. It is okay to say your respects but hounding the family is discusting.
Also discusting is the fact that celebraty deaths are just used for PR reasons. You will see lots of tech companys giving their two cents just for their 15 minutes of fame because of their responce.

smh.12.52pm: So how has social media handled one of the biggest stories to hit the internet?
Twitter and Facebook melted down on the news of Jobs's death and the iconic Twitter fail whale is still appearing frequently.

To be honest though, if she ment that she'd be funding more innovative programs, jobs and research in Australia.Choc said:faaaaaaaark
12.19pm: Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard said she was saddened to hear the news of Steve Jobs passing away.
"Here we are at a future jobs forum, the jobs of the future are going to be shaped by innovation, and we hear the news of the loss of an incredible innovator. It's not too much to say he literally changed our world, all of us would be touched every day, in our daily lives, by products that he was the creative genius behind. So my condolences go to his family and friends."

How the hell has a dead man I have never met validated my decision to walk away from the finance industry? Bloody hell, nice work Steve. What a great speech.Choc said:http://www.smh.com.au/technology/steve-jobs-2005-stanford-commencement-address-20111006-1lami.html

I know, right? Can you give us any insight into what you used to do, what you're doing now and how you ended up doing it? If you don't want to share that's perfectly fine, I'm just genuinely curious.Dead Man said:How the hell has a dead man I have never met validated my decision to walk away from the finance industry? I like that. It's weird to say it, but I think all this has cemented my decision to get one near-enough to launch. Life's too short to worry about whether it's the best decision gadget-wise over the coming months or not.jambo said:iPhone 4S

People are free to be as culturally ignorant as they please I guess, but the quote appears to be aimed at those so entrenched in brand cheerleading that they can't recognise a significant person in history. That is, those that should know better.Box of Bunnies said:Yeah, that'll teach the worthless peons for being indifferent to the passing of someone they've never met.

I never liked the way you ran your company. I thought you were too restrictive, often (rightly, I grudgingly admit) treating users like they were children with fat wallets to be opened just for your company's benefit. I liked your products but disliked your followers who'd pay double for a piece of hardware that was twice as expensive as any other pc but often half as functional and then try to justify their decision by sneering at those who would be logical (miserly?). Truth be told, I grudgingly admired your company's marketing acumen and how you always managed to fool people into believing that they were getting something good. Rest in peace, you were a damn good orator and presenter and you shall be missed.

No great story, I started working in teh call centre for a bank when I was at uni, when I finished my completely unrelated degree (Behavioural Science) it was easier for me to stay with the bank. Ended up in collections and mortgages, basically taking peoples houses away. Did that for a few years, then moved to a salary packaging company, basically made a lot of money for the owner of the business through sales and leads, got paid bugger all, and decided I was sick either making decent money but kicking people out of their home, or making shit money in a job I didn't enjoy anyway, and quit. I'm now studying youth work, and working part time in aged care. I am absolutely broke now, but much happier.Shaneus said:I know, right?
