Last time I saw figures, used games and consoles were approaching 50% of EB Australia's profit (and this was a couple of years ago now). Also, EB had it's strongest used sales in the period before the 360 release, which indicates that used sales increase during the life of a console cycle. The other issue with your anecdote is that you're not EB's real target market. EB positions itself as a specialist retailer for video games in large shopping centers frequented by families with children. Their appeal to the enthusiast market gives them the validity maintain that specialist position. Realistically, everyone in this thread is more effectively marketed to by JB but we're far fom the largest group of consumers.
