If I have fun playing a game I don't give a flying fuck who endorsed it or who the target audience. Fuck off with this video game snobbery, it's as bad as music snobbery.
"Oh, you like that? Ugh, you should like this instead."
Wait. What's wrong with Gears 3? And who is this reggie guy getting his knickers in a twist? It isn't a bad game at all, just one that knows what it wants to do and focuses 100% on it. If you like giant men cover shooters it is pretty much the pinnacle of that dudebro genre. If you play co-op with another mate who like shooting things you pretty much need to own it unless they only like FPS games.

Speaking of Zoo Weekly, whatever happened to Krystal from Big Brother? Now those were some boobs
Silicon poisoning.
Knocked into a coma by her boobs when she did a cartwheel.

Would like to see her in zoo weekly. Would increase their reputation 10000 fold.
There are indeed several books, a new one was just released and I saw a hardcover version in EBgames yesterday for it. They also have a few series of comics which I actually enjoyed. Liam Sharps artwork really worked for me.

The first rule of AusGAF is DO NOT PLAY OR TALK ABOUT VIDEO GAMES
Don not tell me how it is as I do not wish to purchase it for 800 points as it does not perk my curiosity. I do not love the hell out of crash mode and would not love another Burnout focused on it.

I hate it when people do this. GoW is God of War. Gears of War is GeoW. Know your abbreviations!
Using Gears would be easier as there are few other games that would be mistaken for it.

Gears of war is a mainstream game made for the masses. All these statements of "dudebro" and "zoo weekly" move away from the idea of gameplay being first and foremost on every gamers mind.
If you pass up a game based on cheese dialogue I feel sorry for you.
I dont think Gears of War has ever been a game know for it's story and dialogue. However what it does well is gameplay
Rez and Child of Eden have actually been pimped pretty hardcore here in AusGAF, you might have even seen the numerous people posting about how they even BOUGHT the damn game and how much they enjoyed it.
Gears for me did indeed have good gameplay, but Gears 2 did not improve enough to be anything other than repetitive for me. I appreciate it but wish they had changed a lot of things to move it forward. It isn't a bad game, it just isn't what I want to play. The cheese actually makes it more worth playing for me than if they tried to go with a deeper story (like Homefront or something) as it was a good laugh with my mate while we played. It was just that compared to other games it became tedious for us. We dropped about 100 hours into Borderlands and had a great time doing it and I have the same concern that Borderlands 2 will see us hit a wall of tedium if they don't mix it up enough to make it worth buying again. Gears 2 made us wish we had just chucked the first game back in the tray rather than hand over another $80. The game was great and had more variety in enemies which was needed, but it just wasn't for us. That is not a slight against the game. It deserves great scores in the same way that people complaining that Uncharted 2 wasn't original enough were missing the point. If people enjoy it then it is a good game.

If Ivan Drago beat Rocky, the Soviets would have won the Cold War and then we'd have no choice in video games. Count yourselves lucky.
At least then we wouldn't be having any damn discussions about refugees, no one would want to fucking live here! Or if they did come Giant Statue Of Stalin would melt them with it's laser beams coming right out of its freaking head!
They are good for productivity though. Just add all the trolls and morons and that way you never have to spend any more seconds reading their drivel.
Well, unfortunately as a mod you have to read everyone's drivel but at least the GAF Gold membership and sexy weekend retreat for mods makes up for it!
Did you have to sign for it? If not put the container out the front on the lawn. Kick the shit out of the bottles. When they arrive to pick it up say that some punk kid must have done it and that they were morons for asking you to leave it out the front. Karma realigned.
Joke of course. Leave the bottles out the front for them and tell everyone how poor their service is.

If Bunnings refuse to fix there mistake in a timely fashion why should it fall to him to do their job? Especially after telling them in the first place? The customer has not received the goods so the only one who is penalised is Bunnings as they still need to deliver the goods to the right customer.

Also just saw someone carrying a Gears related box on the train. It was fucking huge. Like 3/4 his height. Console bundle?
I think I might go insane soon, had this high pitched ringing in my ears 24/7 for the last few days. Thought it was just my Tinnitus spazzing out but this is different, probably an ear infection :/

I wasn't being a lawyer about it. It just looked convenient to at least tell the guy 'hey, your shit's at my house because Bunnings are a bunch of screwballs'.

LOL how did that go? There were already enough strange japanophiles in the language classes, can't imagine what the manga units were like.
And yeah, as Rahk said, I think she's like the culture expert. I had Chavalin sensei for lectures and a visiting teacher for tuts who I forgot the name of.
Btw, do you know this guy called kentaro? He's like writing a thesis on ninja manga or something.

They were pretty good actually. I made a generic shonen for 223, it was fun and I got to draw for University credit. 323 was actually fairly tricky, I wrote an essay about anime fandom and western distribution utilising it. It's difficult to comment though without being in the US though :<
Hmmm, I might just do some Japanese units over this break...

Yeah worse case I may actually be going deaf but I highly doubt it
I can deal with my normal Tinnitus as long as I have some background noise like a fan or something playing on my PC but this new shit has just been overbearing the last few days, can't focus on anything and even blasting white noise doesn't help Getting some ear drops tomorrow so hopefully that helps.
Whoa that would have been awesome! They had a similar thing last year but it specifically said that they preferred students majoring in Japanese so I didn't apply since I'm a finance major.

EDIT: UQ does an "anime Japanese" course for advanced students. I'm trying to avoid taking it, it truly looks awful. The whole semester is based around Kiki's delivery service apparently.

Me and Deek (and Rahk used to) go to the same uni and interact with the Japanese languages department.
The anime courses were just cultural units, so no japanese language knowledge required. I enjoyed taking them but i'm wondering if I should've done more intensive language learning (or any language learning) instead.

lol nothing! I like it! I don't want to ruin my enjoyment of it by watching it over and over for a whole semester. I don't really consider it "anime" though.
Its probably better than "Korean Drama" which my friend is taking. That one is a culture course (no Korean required), while the Anime at least is language intensive (you need to translate a scene from an anime for one of the exams).
That's pretty neat. One of my good mates from high school got me into gaf, and he still posts sometimes. I only remember his avatar though, so if he's changed it I won't know who he is -_- I think he went to one of the brisgaf meetups (which for some reason are always on during exams). I don't know anyone else here though.

The videogame units are great, I chill with Adam Ruch one of the unit conveners all the time. The media department is pretty chill generally, one of the music guys Alex (not Munt) lent me Okami even
Pretty sure I'll get one, will be so much better for downloading stuff over night, 150W PSU compared to 850W PSU (yes I know it's less when idle). Plus we can have 1 queue and my housemates and I can all access the server!
Everywhere is pretty much sold out at the moment and i think one of the distro's is getting more in early next month.
There's a huge fucking thread over at OCAU that you could read up on if you are bored - Link
It should use like 40w maxed out otherwise it's half that? That's why i'm thinking of one as well, as you said a download / storage box instead of my 150w 24/7 gaming pc.
You like BBT but you also like Community. Now I feel conflicted about you, bro!

I thought I liked giant men cover shooters, but fuck me dead if athletic men in robot suit thingys aren't better. Come to think of it, other than a few notable exceptions (mostly sims), far too many games these days take themselves far too seriously.
Vanquish > Gears
Saint's Row > GTA (for now)
Lego Star Wars > Actual Star Wars

Oh snap, didn't see it in the usual places. New Glee and Raising Hope today too which made the gf very happy. Also Castle for those of you who like that stuff.

Oh shit! That was totally my train of thought while writing that post but I forgot by the end of it. Vanquish is indeed the evolution of the cover shooter done right. Plus the cheese! CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE!

Less of an evolutionary replacement and more of change in taste. I had gotten sick of the setting in Zelda so Darksiders was a fantastic change of pace and the sequel looks to change up a lot of things thankfully to avoid me getting bored with the IP.
As Cookie informed me, its not actually out yet. Friday apparently!
In other news, making a salad with grilled chicken, roast pumpkin, feta, caramelised onion and toasted pine nuts. And I'll probably throw in some green leafy stuff. Bitches don't know bout my salads
