Australia look a bowler short. Always the danger with a four man attack on a pitch which doesn't offer much. I'd be tempted to give Steve Smith a twirl, the pitch isn't spinning but for a leggie that doesn't always matter.

South Africa don't have a specialist spinner. Their bowlers will be rooted.

Barring a stunning collapse by Australia in their first innings, this will be a draw.

A bit of wiley off spin from Lyon around the wicket gets du plessis. Unfortunately ABV will be out to annihilate this crappy pitch.

Seems like there's a bit of life for the spinners then. Probably not as much bounce as lyon would like though.

lol Smith up in the stands in shorts and a vest, talking on a walkie talkie to the plebs down on the ground wrapped up in jackets and towels trying to keep out the wind. That was odd.

This is a FANTASTIC over by Lyon.

This looks the sort of pitch if you see off the new ball and don't play silly shots you can score 1's and 2's easily enough.

They sure tried their hardest to make scoring singles look difficult then.

Going to be hard for the seamers if SA continues to grind it out. Might see a bit more warner.

Slow going, but understandable considering the beating they took last test. Du Plessis' wicket really slowed things down too. The PE pitch is the slowest in the country, it has always played this way.

If SA can post a big total here they could still apply some pressure. Always possible when you're in the pound seats. And we do have some decent bowlers. But it definitely won't be easy getting 20 wickets if Australia are prepared to do the real hard graft.

I also approve of the changes made to the SA side. The two Petersons were dead weight. McLaren is nothing special. I definitely like the look of this side more.

That's a terrible way to get out on 83. Just lost patience which unless you're going at under 2.5 an over you should never do in early on in test matches. Sad as he'd fought really well for his 83. Opens up an end for Australia though.

I would have thought this would more a Siddle sort of wicket than any of the other seamers but he's not been that threatening for some reason.
