Automotive Discussion Thread | OT2 | Zero to pointless fighting faster than a GT86

I'm told 8-12 weeks also. Seems like everyone is getting them in 12 weeks or sooner. Certain options will delay it further. I really want it now but I can wait, hopefully lol. I just wanted what I ordered and can't find that around here. Plus getting it under invoice helps lol.

Seems like WRXs and any WRX/Sti with Nav are taking the longest though.

Yeah, the best deal I was offered thus far was from the dealership that would have to order the car. They said they can give me the best deal on a car that would be ordered, and not sit on their lot. Makes sense with some of those dealership/maker deals.

We'll see. I'm not going to lie, I'm skeptical with all these odd issues popping up in this car already from leaky rear differentials to leaking exhaust gasket at the factory downpipe. Ehh... lol.

That's what warranty is for. Both of those issues have been fixed already I believe. I'm not too worried.

GM...

Another 7.6 million cars recalled.

Jesus Christ...... what a damn mess

I think a lot of other companies are going to ride the coattails of GM's recall blunder by announcing recalls now, under the cover of GM's scrutiny.

It's what I'd do.

Still seems like a bit of a manufactured "crisis", and Barra was obviously thrown under a bus.

So I was driving around on my way to a restaurant when I saw this near my area in Florida...

Yes. Yes it is.

Dodge calling the hellcat their halo car and the fastest muscle car ever built.

I really don't understand the 275s on the rear though.

If the hellcat is their halo car then what's the viper? lol

That stance looks mean. How's the yellow look irl? I've heard it's not as "loud" a color as pictures show.

It's beautiful in person. My wife and I both loved it.

Yeah, it seems like they are brushing the Viper under the rug. I have heard of a 2015 refresh, but I don't have my hopes up on anything that would make me get one over a c7 Z.

I want one. Ill never get one but I want one.

I would rather have a 392 and call it a day. You still get a badass motor and the awesome look of the challenger for (probably) much less.

So I'm in the market to get back into a car after almost a decade of owning trucks.

Needs to be awd as it will be driven in Canadian winters, and needs to be alot of fun.

So far I got two cars on my radar a wrx sti and the new vw golf r

Anything else I should be looking at?

Compact only or full-size cars too?
Auto or manual?
How big of an engine do you want? Is gas a concern?
How old / How new?

Looking for new, gas isn't a concern needs to be offered in manual bigger engine is better, the more hp the better bit I also want it to be fun in the corners. Looking in and around the 50k price range

WRX or STI is what you're looking for. Mitsu has the Evo around for one more year yet. Golf R is a bit off yet as far as sales go outside of Europe iirc, and it's AWD system isn't really all that hot.

I've never watched an episode

What? Get on that.

I've never watched an episode...but I didn't even know the show was still on. Damn.

its a weird show. 2 regular broadcast tv shows in 98 99. then they did a movie in 2001, then it was 'pay per view' 2 eps per month in 2004-2006. Then the last arc was pay per view 2012-2013.

Then the very least few eps were just animated this year.

Is the Golf R using haldex or quattro?

Hoping to get paperwork and everything finalized on Monday or Tuesday for my Lotus Evora. Maybe take delivery by Weds. Guess we will see!

Eyeing a 2013 with 30 miles on it. I have an actual Lotus dealership 10 miles away so that helps with peace of mind. Full warranty still on it. Manual and in Yellow with black rims and red calipers.

So I'm going to have to order my next car, a Subaru STI. I narrowed it down between WR Blue Pearl and White Pearl. My current car of 10 years is blue, and I never had a white car yet (besides my fiance's). So I can do white pearl with red and black wheels which I think would look good. But blue is my favorite color, and WR Blue Pearl looks so so good. I'm sure I can find a nice color scheme to do wheel wise with the Blue, and no, not doing "Gold", don't care about the heritage lol.

I'm going to have to decide soon I guess, as it's going to take 12 weeks or so for the order to be completed.
White, white, white a thousand times white. I have a white 2011 STi and I don't regret picking it over blue. The WR blue likes to show every little mark and scratch on the paint.

While the Hellcat engine is impressive, there's no way that car will be faster in a straight line than the GT500 or faster around corners than a ZL1 or Z/28. The Hellcat is 4500lbs. 4500. That's insane.

It's made for showboating and loud noises. Of course it won't out perform those cars.

Best part about summer? No need to wash the car. I waxed my car pretty early during the summer (Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection), any dirt that accumulates or even bugs gets taken care of by the rain.

I haven't washed for over a month now, and the car still is shiny as hell. :)
/Time saving.

Don't know where you're pulling that number from since it hasn't been reported. The 2014 SRT8 is 4,250.

Yeah, doubt it will weigh that much, but the weight has not been confirmed. I think they are using more aluminum on the hellcat than the 392.

No doubt about the ZL1 or especially the Z28 on a track but in a 1/4 mile it looks like it will get the job done. I think your forgetting its main advantage over the gt500...the 8 speed auto.

http://www.autoevolution.com/news/2...109s-quarter-mile-time-seems-legit-83368.html

Edit: By the way, the supposed run of 10.9's had the hellcat trapping over 130. Monster

The official spec sheet on Allpar was high 4400s. Looks are subjective, so I'm not counting that in this comparison. And when it comes to 1/4 mile times it is only fair to compare cars with similar transmissions if its offered. Comparing a GT500 to an auto Hellcat is like comparing a stock car to a modified car. Plus auto or not, that car is not hooking on 295s.

I honestly don't think it's fair to compare a ZL1 and a GT500 against the Hellcat. Both are track-oriented cars while the other is an instant burnout machine.

While all those time attack elitists are cutting corners as much as possible to save time, the Hellcat owners are probably laughing their asses off as they maniacally burn rubber through every corner like madmen.

I dunno about y'all but I personally would rather be one of those madmen killing tires like there's no tomorrow.
