It drives me nuts as. I always wipe my rims down after I get done with a drive. It's probably going to get even worse if I opt for new rotors and bigger calipers.

Also seems I'll still have to do a tiny bit of grinding my the Gyrodynes. But it's only on 2 bolts, so it should take less than 10 minutes for all 4 wheels.

Still torn about the color of the rims. I'm now thinking about a Satin Titanium color. Just dark but not black.

Imo, I love the color of your Gyrodyne wheels now - the machined look is awesome, so it's hard for me to recommend anything else.

I thought caliper covers were cheap mods that people put in their cheap cars to make it look like they have Brembo brakes or something, didn't realize there were also covers for specific purpose like eliminating brake dust. How does that work?

I am starting to itch towards an nicely used AP2 S2000. These cars are so fun and pretty affordable right now. They are also going up on resale... so tempted!!

An S2000 is never a bad idea and I'm pretty sure the value on those is only going to go up over time.

The cabin IS slightly smaller than I'd like but the interior is really high-end. I was quite impressed with it. The car is a visual looker too.

Fantastic features, too. Love the touch screen, heated seats, the blind spot aid, and rear-view camera. I got the Touring AWD for a good deal. I financed it but will be paying under $190 for a payment - which I am cool with.

Yeah, Mazda has done a nice job of making their cars feel very premium while keeping their cost down. And it helps that they look nice and are reliable at the same time.

There's like at least 6 inches between the top of my hair and the top, but it still looks like this. I'm gonna try my chest mount tomorrow, maybe that'll work better.

Also, I really don't know how RegularCars does it... you look and feel stupid with a GoPro on your head lol.

I've been using a Montana Original boar hair brush, along with two bucket + grit guards with great results for some time now. Added bonus is that the wash goes way faster with this setup.

I understand the purpose given the brake dust, but the aftermarket for econo box caliper covers has utterly ruined these things. It makes your stunning Jag look like a 96 Honda. Someone at work put some of those on his 5.0 stang and my god even in black it looks disgusting.

Eh, caliber covers always look good from a distance. However, they look like cheap plasticy parts when they get worn or even slightly dirty.
I hear Ceramic break pads help reduce brake dust. Never tried it out, but a few members on the MB AMG forums talk about using them and it helping out a bit.
I use a Meguiars hot rim cleaner when washing my rims. It seems to be the best out of all the rim cleaners I have used.

My method isn't efficient, but then washing your car by hand isn't about efficiency haha.
I use the two bucket method and use a microfiber sponge for the non-glass parts above my wheel wells/ lower bumpers. Then I use a brush to clean the lower parts of my car (that get more contact with dirt/pebbles). Every few strokes, I wash the tool/brush in the second water only bucket before dipping it into the soap bucket. Matt Farah has a good video for the method

The SS is gone, and I don't really want to go back to a 2-door so Camaro and Mustang are out. The 300 and Charger are okay. Maxima is alright as well, but FWD. There's the Kia Stinger...which is very promising, but I just can't get over the nameplate (I know).

I'm torn between the 300, Maxima, and Stinger right now. Will have to see how the Kia holds up...I got about 20 months to go.

My son's been doing something really awesome lately. When he hears motorcycles pass by he makes a bzzzzzz sound. And for nicer cars he goes brrrrr. The other day he heard a McLaren 570S, looked at me, leaned in and went "brrrrr". And as we were sitting outside at the patio at the place to right, the SV started up, he cracks a smile and goes "brrrrr" again.

Basically you have a clean (your soap water) and a dirty (your clean rinse water) bucket. With a mitt, you use the clean bucket to wash your car, then you wash off the mitt in the dirty bucket. Then you dunk your mitt into the clean bucket and repeat. This method separates more grit and dirt out of the washing process.

Charger/300 feels most in line with what you've had in the past. Too bad the SS is on the way out. Maxima kind of seems like - one of these things is not like the other - maybe check out the Infiniti Q50? Can't say I know that much about them but it checks the right boxes unless it's too luxury?

Boltz covered the bulk of it above, but this is a grit guard - the idea is that it lets the dirt particles picked up by your mitt or brush settle at the bottom of your rinse bucket and works as sort of a baffle to prevent the grit from coming back up into your cleaning tool - it also serves as sort of a 'washboard' to let you shake as much of the crud out of your mitt/brush as possible before dipping back into your nice clean soapy water.

The one linked is reasonably priced and fits perfectly in those $4 Home Depot orange buckets.

Also, if you're looking for microfiber, this is the place for great stuff at good prices. They also have an Amazon storefront.

Yeah, we can't use any luxury brands. Maxima is so unlike my usual car, but the Charger is a little too boy racer for me. I got time, so it's not a rush. If they brought back the SRT 300 I would steer in that direction. I know I gotta change with the times too, hence the Maxima / Stinger entering my mind. Maxima I just really like the interior /looks. I know it won't be fun to drive lol.

Looking at getting a new car in the next Year or year and a half. Was trying to decide if I wanted to go luxury or not, currently drive a 2006 Scion TC with around 114k miles on it, but it's been giving me problems lately.

Really looking into the 2018 Toyota Camry XSE V6 or maybe a year later depending on when I buy. Seems like the best of both worlds, Toyota reliability and maintenance but luxury looking insides and speed.

The price is the only thing I feel like maybe for 36k there might be some better choices.

People recommend Maguires for wash. Is that a good brand to use?

For stuff you can get at a regular store, it's pretty good in my experience. I've been using some Chemical Guys stuff I buy by the gallon from Autogeek, mostly because I keep catching it on sale as I'm running out.

One thing about the brush - you want to soak it for a while (~15 mins+) to soften the bristles before you start using it. I usually fill my rinse bucket and chuck the brush in there while I do my wheels (split spokes suck). If you're looking for a wheel cleaner, Sonax or Meguiars Mirror Bright are pretty great, IMO.

IMO until the nameplates like Corolla, Civic, etc. completely stop selling ICE and switch to hybrids or electric, we've still got a loooooong road ahead from completely eliminating ICE or big bad oil.

Got them the other day. Paint is nice, smooth and glossy. The rivets, while not functional, are not just fake paint. The material is a very nice aluminum. But I love the embossed logos the most - I really do. They're etched into the paint, and not just some cheap vinyl stickers. They add some pizzaz that is otherwise missing from the wheel area.

They also take 5 seconds to install once the wheel is off. You just screw them on top of the brake caliper. Waiting for my spacers to come in, and I'll be on my way to install.

You pretty much said it yourself... besides Tesla, everyone avoids other electrics.

Tesla's the only one who's done it right so far with the S and X and it remains to be seen whether the 3 is going to be a success. Sure, it's technically a success already with all the pre-orders and whatnot but those are the early adopters.

At this point in time, we've barely eclipsed the innovators stage and hit the early adopters... once the Model 3 hits I imagine we'll get close to the early majority stage, but not enough to cross over.

Then you also have the underlined. For some reason, people think Tesla = luxury car so your neighbor Joe Dirt isn't going to bother looking at Teslas(it doesn't help that you can't just walk in to a Tesla dealership here in Texas for example). Obviously the Model 3 hopes to change that thought, but the car isn't even out yet so it's hard to judge whether the 3 can change that.

That said, I'm not against electrics... I know it's the future and I'd actually love a Model 3 as a daily driver since I have a long ass commute but at the same time I'm not willing to wait until 2018 or 19 for one. I just think that it's a little short sighted to believe that we'll all be driving electrics in 5 years... 10 years at the earliest IMO.

Also, I personally don't think the incumbents can figure it out ASAP. But like I said, we've got a long road before the electric revolution begins. I think once gas stations have been replaced by superchargers or whatever equivalent then I think the revolution can start. But at this point time, it's tough to convince Joe Dirt to get an electric since you yourself have to build your life around it.
