Avowed - 30 minutes of uncut footage in 4K/60

Bethesda's engine they should allow to be used by anyone at MS. Some of the games will really benefit from it.

If game becomes a hit, you can release regular expansions with ease, using it.
Bethesda engine ?
That relic from the past ?
In Fucking Starfield you cant even fart without seeing loading screen. Open the door.....loading, enter elevator....loading, enter ship....loading, land on a planet...loading, leave planet loading FFS.
No thanks......I'll take Avowed engine any day.

You dont do any of these actions in Avowed.

It will be a perfect fit.

Also dont get loading criticism in Starfield. What was expectations here. There will be no loading? Going from a city to a new star system without loading, never seen a game like that.

Maybe they could've reduced a few loading screens thats about it.

No Man's Sky has been doing that on last gen for years now.

Unless you have 1 to 1 feature set as Starfield and do it all without loading, this is not a valid argument.
No Man's Sky has even more stuff going for than Starfield. And it still doesn't have loading screens.

Also, the 1-to-1 feature set parity argument is disingenuous, as no two games will literally have the exact same features, resolution, performance, and other variables.

This is just a disingenuous argument in bad faith to stop comparisons.

I have played both games.

This is laughable.

Just compare space ships of both games. You will see why Starfield needs to load ships when you enter.

I wonder how this jump looks like in 3rd person, with the floaty feel and both arms out, even holding the sword and the book. So unnatural.

Perhaps that's why Obsidian still has not shown anything in 3rd person mode yet. The animations would be extremely weird.
People wonder why Obsidian games are never 90+ on Metacritic

It's always "eh, this is good enough" with them. They never try to go beyond. Feels like they have no ambition.

Must be a good place to work tho, 'cause I doubt that they crunch a lot to create their games.

What are we speaking about No Mans Sky v Starfield in an Avowed thread?

(Starfield shits all over No Mans Sky in all aspects - especially gameplay)

New Vegas was (in)famously crunched together in less than two years (18 months according to some sources). You can bet your ass there was a ton of crunching involved, and as a surprise to absolutely no one ever, it was still a complete mess on a technological level when released. Also scored a single point less in Metacritic (probably because of the bugs) than it should have, so there was no bonus for Obsidian for all the effort they put in. Thumbs up for Bethesda.

...but the people that worked on New Vegas have long since moved on. The Obsidian of yore is no longer, which is true for most of the studios out there (that still exist).

lol its a solved problem,
"unless you are starfield, you can't compare yourself to starfield" isn't the smart comeback you think it is.
game has loading screens within the same building ffs.

Looks so mediocre, I'm truly sorry for the amazing Devs that have to put up with this shit from higher ups.

Whoever greenlight this turd!?

I will give you that. They probably have some additional loading screens than necessary. Maybe 10% of them should've been removed.

But it is an ideal engine for a game like this.

Minor 1-2 seconds loading is nothing in comparison to stuff it brings to the table.

A minimum wage salary is too much for some devs.

bomba on arrival. PS5 port few months later for another bomba and studio closure after. Can't wait.

No shame really. when a first time Chinese devs make their first game 10 times better than this garbage for less the budget.

I swear some devs need to be axed from the planet. not a single sad thought will come to mind even. useless..

Doesn't look good IMO. Just a very colourful avg RPG with too much HUD and icons and some boring looking attacks even though it should sound exciting being a combo of sword slashing in one hand and spellbooking in another. Then again I thought Outer Worlds was meh too, but that game got over 80 MC.

It also didn't help (for me at least) with the narrated video of those two dev dorks talking over the game trying to hype it up.

Looks better, but I dunno theres something going on that makes everything look last gen. I can't put my finger on it. If you single out any particular asset they look fine, good even, but it just doesn't look great as a whole.
I think it's the weird colour pallete. I couldn't quite put my finger on it either but the colours are odd, just makes it looks a bit bland.

Looks decent, but at 30fps? Can't help but be disappointed.

I expect this to be a reasonably fun but fairly forgettable RPG. Gamepass fodder, basically.
