Its banter levels land somewhere between Guardians of the Galaxy and 2023’s Dungeons & Dragons film – which will be off-putting for people for whom the Avengers style of dialogue has not so much soured as entirely curdled.
This is what bothers me.

I’m glad it’s on Game Pass so I can check it out. I liked Outer Worlds but their humour just gets tiresome after a while.

Raises suspicion when the first quote in the article is about how great the combat is when that was what was targeted previously by players for looking floaty and bland.

I dropped outer worlds because every character was insufferable and the game itself was boring. This doesn't sound any different.
Yup. The one thing I really liked about Outer Worlds was how there were so many ways to complete each quest.

Everything else kinda sucked though. Combat felt really bland and half baked, difficulty balance was all over the place, skill/character progression was so bland and pointless.

And of course you could see the wokeness beginning to take hold of Obsidian with the heavy handed “capitalism and rich people = bad” messaging and the way they tried soooooo so hard to make you love asexual lesbian Parvati (who’s apparently the only decent and sympathetic character in the entire universe while everyone else is a detestable piece of shit). Plus the their attempts at humor and kitschy retro-futurism felt so forced and derivative.

The more I hear about Avowed the more pessimistic I am about its chances of improving on Outer Worlds

Targeted by players who didn’t play the game or are going to spread negativity because it’s a Microsoft game?

Those players?

People that didn’t play the game. There’s footage and opinions of people playing the game. We’re beyond old trailers at this point in development.
I didn’t say they’d played the game.

I’ll wait until the public get their hands on the game rather than Xbox’s curated personalities, as personally I agreed that the combat looked poor.

Would you actually want relationships with all the women that look like dudes? I mean they all have ugly faces and weird hairdos except for one, and she is a lesbian. So what relationships can you have unless you play a female character? I guess there is that, but go back to the my first point. BG3/mass effect, outer worlds is not.
The Lesbian being Parvati yeah i liked her, and even though you can't romance anyone her story mirrors my sisters story who is also lesbian so she became more of a sister like figure especially when you do her companion missions. So i did feel sympathetic toward her and how she grapples with her self BUT i only really did those mission for experience and hopefully to level up faster. I feel like my character is just existing minimal input , it doesn't really matter my choice because for the most part even if someone disagree their not leaving unless i let them go. They're also so devoid of any emotion for the most part it just feels empty talking to people for the most part.

Even Ellie the other girl whose the medic it just feels like shes fine with anything. Even if i wanted to play evil i don't feel like i would face consequences that would make me want to start over from a previous save, whatever happens i think i would be okay with it. BG3 in particular the amount of times i went to a previous save and got several different outcomes SCARED me....i've never had an RPG do that. Again i like Outerworlds it reminds me of olders RPGs , but i just feel like they could've done more here, and its sad that their trying to do more of the same with Avowed.
