No, it's a popular sub-fetish generally referred to as "forced feminisation". Characters are turned into women without their consent, but they soon learn to embrace their situation and generally end up having sex with other characters.
Sonic and Pony fans are generally similar in a lot of respects, but misogyny is much more prevalent among the bronies. I think it may stem from a need to assert that their cartoon is deep, meaningful and that they, not young girls, are the true target audience. But nerds tend to be a pretty rightwing bunch anyway, so I'm just speculating.
Not to derail this thread (though admittedly, the whole thing is already a series of trainwrecks), but if that's true, why does GAF have such a well-established liberal streak? Do we break the mold just to be contrarian, or is the whole Conserva-nerd thing limited to only certain sectors of the nerd hierarchy?
Because honestly, in all my time on the internet amongst fellow nerds, the right wing nerds were pretty rare, and were usually just playing Devil's Advocate because, you know, it's the internet and it was made for arguments (well, it was made for porn, but it can honestly do both, it's a big place). The only place I've seen nerds leaning right with any consistency is the Bronies.
I wish I didn't fucking have that factoid shaking around in my head. I need a new hobby.
