You have a paycheck depending on this or something?

Yeah but can they really eventually put PS out of business with the AB purchase? Seems unlikely to me. Losing CoD is huge, but not back-breaking. All the other AB franchises aren’t big enough, maybe with the exception of Diablo, but that’s only a once in a decade+ release.

Overwatch?

Microsoft already own Zenimax & Bethesda! So no more Fallout,Skyrim or Doom or if you only play on Playstation.

So which is it? PlayStation and Nintendo are not our competition. Let’s buy Activision/Blizzard to push Sony out of the industry. Then again, didn’t Microsoft offer Nintendo and Sony 10 year deals for COD?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Yes. It was a 10 year contract, if they followed the Minecraft model, it would probably keep going beyond the 10 years as well.

Supposedly that was the old Microsoft. The more things change.....
Lol @ everyone trying to say this isn't their plan because it wasn't related to the Activision deal even though the

Activision deal playing out that goal.

It wouldn't have.

Embrace Extend Extinguish all over again.

Netscape Navigator all over again.

Hopefully this time it's stopped before it takes hold.

It would also be nice if Bernoulli Bernoulli can update Totilo's latest tweet in the OP or we can get a threadmark or something as well.

Folks are missing out on important updates.

Cut the crap; that updated post only reaffirms the plan. Do you think they were going to achieve their goal of running PlayStation out of business in a single year? Microsoft are known for multi-year running strategies and playing the long game. That's what they've done with cloud, it's what they're trying to do with Game Pass and cloud gaming. They did the same in eventually squeezing out other competitors in the past.

The large 3P acquisitions are 100% in service of the plan expressed in the 2019 email. The only people wanting to pretend otherwise, don't deserve to have a seat at the table discussing this (IMO).

It's amazing to me how gullible some of the regulators are, like the EU.

"Microsoft, due to economic forces, has no desire to realistically foreclose CoD on Playstation"....yet this is coming from a $2.5 Trillion Dollar company that can EASILY afford to foreclose CoD on a rival platform by playing a long-term game.

Posts like this are exactly why I'm requesting the update lol. You've gone full bore, head first.

OP:
Because it supposedly shows an Xbox exec saying that the plan around buying Activision is to put PlayStation out of business

Update:
A Microsoft rep shares a significant update to this. While they still can't divulge the contents of the email, they're able to now say that it was sent in 2019 That means that whatever anti-PlayStation sentiment/strategy it may contain preceded MS' offer for Activision

I hope you can connect the dots and figure out which part should be amended.

How dare Microsoft want to beat Sony.
How dare Sony want to beat Microsoft.
How dare you guys act surprised.
of course Microsoft wants Sony to leave the gaming market. Sony would love Microsoft to leave too. They are both big companies focused purely on profit and greed. They don't care about competition. If either Microsoft or Sony left the gaming market then the ones to lose out would be us the consumers.

People need to realise this. Sony/Microsoft are not your friend and they don't give a shit about you or what you want. Just keep giving them money.

The issue of not being able to see the full context of the email aside, this isn't much different form the years of discussion and stories interviews about Sony until the late 2000's. Microsoft being caught allegedly attempting the same thing many years later being news is questionable. Especially since this is Microsoft we are talking about here.

But from the looks of things almost everything involving Microsoft is news now no matter how small.

Update:

I hope you can connect the dots and figure out which part should be amended.

That really doesn't change anything. An update that would change things is an email afterwards saying "You know what, that was a stupid idea of mine. Disregard. Let's buy those publishers to give gamers more choices instead."

It can mean any number of things, Booty could have been talking about acquiring Double Fine to destroy Sony for all we know.

But it completely changes the context of how the thing was first reported, even Totilo has since retracted and apologized for wording it that way.

Booty could have been talking about what to order for lunch in 2023 based on that page of black boxes obliterating all text from 2019. That is the proof of this newest Xbox conspiracy???? This shit is hilarious, I can't stop laughing. o_O:ROFLMAO::oops:😜🤪

Facts won't slow the Xbox hate train down.

"Facts"...

Just because the document predates the acquisition attempt doesn't mean shit. It goes to intent. And a pattern of behavior that can be easily proven with regards to the Bethesda acquisition, Phil's initial statement that they weren't going to take away games from PlayStation, only to turn around and do precisely that the moment the ink was dry on the merger.

The facts are Microsoft is attempting to use their extreme monetary valuation that Sony cannot match in an attempt to drive out their competition.
With a pattern of behavior that proves it.

Spare me your persecution complex nonsense.
Microsoft is being the arrogant, anti-competitive, "fuck your anti-trust" Microsoft of years past.
