Banjo-Threeie Debut Trailer!

not 20, 10.
Whenever nintendo started with Mario and Zelda, and never gave Link a Voice and Bowser always trying to save Peach -> thats the only way to go.

If Banjo can't tranform into a pumpkin, crocodile or any other crazy creature I will be extremely pissed and will not purchase this game.
See?

Trying something new = bad.

I told you the difference, from being a small part of the game to being the main focus. It even changes the genre lol.

Let me tell you the difference between someone that actually owns a 360 and someone who doesn't.

ME=own
You=doesn't

The door is that way.

Huh what? Am I just confused or is this guy trying to say Banjo = Heavenly sword?

Some of you people suck at detecting sarcasm :P It's a joke referencing all the people saying this should be compared to racers and lego games.

You know, it's interesting that the closest thing to a positive comment in your post history is on a Wii game.

Well if you want to know more about me, I am an Aquarius, not single, and my favorite game is TF2.

I know I'm really late to the party, but I just can't see the part of the trailer where 8-bit Mario's head gets blown off. Can anybody tell me when/where to look? Thanks.

Check gamevideos.com for the "Debut" trailer. It's towards the end.

They took it out. They said Microsoft didn't know about it and it's been removed because there are too many whiney fanboys who treat the industry too damn seriously because they're assholes.

You can still find it around in other places though. Here's a youtube video:

Wait, seriously? Man, what a shame. I thought it was a neat display of the customization options. This game has overtook my top spot for most anticipated title of 2008.

While the argument has gotten cyclical, the criticism is valid and warranted.

That's fine. But I don't see the point of bitching about it for 40 pages of thread. Rare made a decision that some people don't like while others do. Who cares? Move on. Hate Rare if you like, don't buy the game, whatever. It's a done deal.

I don't mean to dismiss people's feelings of betrayal or anything, but this is taking it a bit far.

Why are people quoting me on the Mario Galaxy thing when in the same thread I said I was wrong.

Because it makes it obvious that you were prepared to troll the game even before we knew that it was different from the 64 Banjos.

Which invalidates your "I'm really disappointed with what it turns out to be in the end" argument.

For anyone who missed :

I already said, copying Galaxy isn't a bad thing, rather something Rare does great, lol.

Fileccia told me that he wasn’t allowed to say much about what happened, but the impression I got was that Rare snuck it into the trailer and got themselves in some hot water. Either that, or this is an intentional buzz-builder. (You can see the scene online on many sites, including this one.

And yes, he did link to a GAF gif :P

WTF back at you, you never played System Shock 2 which is why are confused. Some gamers need consoles to hold their hands I guess.

If STALKER come out on console, so many consoletards would be crying.

@ krzyspc

Your entire post history embodies everything that is wrong with this forum, quite how you are still around is quite astonishing.

Well actually, based on what has happened in the thread I'm not surprised...

I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but Mario getting blown up was taken out of the trailer.

Fanboys can get butthurt over the stupidest things.
I wonder if fanboys were the cause of the change or Nintendo itself...

First day purchase for me. I think it looks great. I never played the others, and frankly if I did, so what? I don't think it would take way my anticipation for this.

And for those of you crying over the mario decapitation thing....

Express your outrage to someone outside the net, like say a cute girl on the street. Maybe she will share in your complete outrage and you will make a connection with her. Then a friendly relationship will grow out of the mutual respect and admiration you share for Miyamoto. In a short time your mutual fondness could blossom into something beyond mere friendship. Every time you see each other, it starts to become the best moment of your day. When you have to part, it becomes the worst. You both cannot stop thinking about each other, and when you are hopping planets in SMG, all you can concentrate on is her to the detriment of your platforming abilities, as you are killed by the same maniacle goomba mushrooms guys you easily thwart every other time.

You decide to ask her out officialy. She accepts. You take her out to see Speed Racer and eat some Applebees. Everything is going smooth. You take her home for a rousing game of Wii sports. Giggling away with each other after a fun round of boxing, you both collapse on the couch and hit pause. After a few moments of awkward silence, you speak softly to each other, giving one another compliments. Silence fills the room again. Slight smiles disappear as more serious looks hit each others faces. And you see something in each others eyes...

..a longing.

A longing that you want to be with this person so bad, that every moment in your life was just a step towards this ultimate person who thinks and share like you. Who makes you feel more alive than ever before. Who justifies your existence, and console preference.

You slowly draw near each other. Both your eyes begin to close and you are ready for a kiss so hot it will blaze the heavens with the force of a thousand suns exploding.

This is it. The moment you have wanted for so long....

And its all thanks to a some non existent little italian plumber being poked fun at in a video game.*

*DISCLAIMER

The described events above are unlikely to occur. The most probable outcome is said girl, will say "whatever" and walk away with a mocking look on her face. She will then that night, proceed to fuck her boyfriend hard, and all he ever plays is Madden and GTA once in a while.

this is something totally unexpected... why didnt they just make the game just bigger better and even more hilarious without them vehicles? :(

@ krzyspc

Coming into this thread with nothing really to say is just a waste of your time. If you do not like the game because of the new direction that Rare is taking it, then it's simple do not buy it. Go back and replay the old ones for your enjoyment. I felt the same way you did at first and after a day of thinking I'll give the new game a shot. What's the point in bashing a game you yourself haven't played yet? A lot of the previews and interviews make the game sound really good, so we'll just have to reserve judgment until it comes out or until they release a demo on XBL.

@ everyone else

Why reply to krzyspc you're just causing him to post even more. If you do not reply to him and he keeps on posting meaningless information then he'll eventually get banned for derailing the thread.

This sadly happens a lot in forums. Negative and absurd opinions get way more attention than the collected ones. It's part of the human nature too, I guess.

GAF has been really effective on cleanup duties lately. :)

How can anyone be upset with the direction of the game?

Its Legos, except you get to actually get INSIDE your lego construction and drive/fly/whatever it around!

Oh, you mean like the Gummi Ships?

I hope the vehicles are only a small part of the game. The level designs look fantastic.

They're not a small part from what I read. If you do not want to use vehicles you really do not have to because the make the game easier and faster to beat so instead of spending 30 hours on the game you end up beating it in 20 hours. Also in some missions the use of vehicles is necessary.

If anything 40 pages were useful in helping to add to the ignorelist and outing the nintendo zealots.

I'm a Nintendo fan but what he was talking about was just total bullshit. I don't think the Mario thing was a huge deal; I felt it was unprofessional but I don't see any sense in removing it from the end of the trailer unless there were some legalities involved that Rare should've been mindful of. [And it's possible Nintendo made them aware of those if there were any, or maybe even Microsoft not wanting to cause any ruckus over it. Who knows.]

I do find this bubbling animosity towards Nintendo interesting though, or is it more about their fans?

Because it ceases being Banjo-Kazooie. I personally have no problem with the game as I have not played it but it seems from the movies/pics that it completely change the original games' aestetics(sp?). I guess instead of the quirky transformations, it's now build-a-vehicle (which in its own right is an amazing premise for a platformer) and it have some ppl riled up. Plus, they've also taken away Kazooie's moves making her no more than an assistant than the two man assult team that BK was before.

It seems a though they've stripped the game of its goofiness, magic, and what have you. Again, I don't mind, I'm on a wait and see mindset.

The racing portions will probably suck, but I really, really like the look, scope, and detail of the levels-- exploration will probably be really fun.

Now, the question is... are there distinct levels? Can you use any vehicle on any level? So far, the game looks like a must buy, though I'm still skeptical about the vehicle creation, as it will probably just be icing around a few key features (helicopter, plane-style flight, wheeled, hydrofoil)

Good music, too. I'm a huge fan of BK2's soundtrack.

Just the fans that are beyond reproach, the people treating Mario like it's some sort of demigod and "Rare should be ashamed of destroying such an icon". Good grief.

Sad to see yetti was banned because I think a LOT of people were frustrated by the trolls comments and it didn't look like anything was going to be done about them. It's not like someone told the guy to blow his brains out just to "jump out", hopefully take a hint and gtfo the thread.

So its not what people were expecting, doesn't mean it wont be a good game. People here aren't just expressing that they also want a regular platformer, they're basically condemning the game, when the game concept is actually quite cool. Thats really what I was responding to.

Also I'm not sure I'd say the goofiness and magic is gone. Certainly not the former, the latter is just different.

This is sort of OT, but does anyone else have problems viewing Banjo-Kazooie.com?

It keeps telling me to install Silverlight, but I already have it, so when I click the link it says I already have the thing installed. I am using Firefox 3b5.

I wonder if fanboys were the cause of the change or Nintendo itself...

I think its more the press not wanting to air it, because Nintendo is already very finicky with the press (as far as who they let see what and when etc).
Nintendo could care less..you don't lose sleep at the top of a mountain.

Personally.. I say the blowing up of 8-bit Mario (the archetype of all platforming characters and their functionality) is a brilliant and intentional metaphor for doing away with limiting a character to pre-defined abilities.

Media Molecule made a similar gesture when they revealed LBP, but was more subtle about it with the whole blatant 1up mushroom thing.

Stuff like that is great for the industry at this point, I think.

Fair enough. Loving Nintendo and Mario doesn't mean one has to worship them with temples and shrines, though I'm surprised by the strong zeal of these hardcore BK purists as well.
