Banjo-Threeie Debut Trailer!

Worth quoting; this is the Kotaku footage. To get proper 720p you have to download the WMV, then wait 10 hours for it to download.

And most likely suffer from horrible compression.

Dude, the trailer came out just now. There's a difference between a hidden feature that came out years after release and that not everybody would have heard about, and discussing something in a trailer that came out today.

It was just an example of platforming in the game, there are more examples in this game.

Are you going to keep misconstruing intentions or ?

Why is Gamevideos always so slow? Seriously, its worse than gamespot video downloads. Gametrailers needs to hurry and get this HD version up.

And my point about jumping was that we haven't seen Banjo doing jumping similar to the other games. Platform to platform. Not that he could jump at all. Mine was just a misstatement/lack of clarification, yours was just ignorance.

EDIT:

Banjo wasnt that linear for its time.

An example of an objective that could be completed in more than 2 ways?

EDIT 2: Also, the progression was pretty linear. Collect this many jiggies/notes to get to the next level. Sure you could do it in slightly different order, but still linear.

Like WTF does a redneck Bear know about making vechiles, and why does a witchdoctor have car parts scattered across his lawn? Is he on Welfare and is representing?
.

Why would a plumber be flying around space when hourly rates for plumbers are at an all time high, especially immigrant mustachiod plumbers!

No problem. What's the point of game design when you can just let people do whatever they want wherever they want however they want.

In case you missed it, I like LINEAR GAMES. I don't want to customize, I don't want to build. I'm OK with combining, as long as it's predefined, ala early adventure games.

I don't think open world is a natural evolution of a franchise which had always been linear.
Yeah, Banjo was always linear, forcing you to do one Jiggy in a row, point A to point B.

Bullshit. You were trying to say that Banjo did no jumping, just like how you were trying to say Kazooie did no gliding.

Uncle said:
That's true, but it makes the game more open for exploring and finding the right platforms you need to reach when navigating through the worlds. I find it more appealing than a linear obstacle course.

You know, I'm not really opposed to vehicles in general, it's just that the way there implented doesn't seem to advance platformers and is a missed opportunity. When I first heard that the game would have vehicles, I was interested, I was imagining Trackmania style (or is it Gripshift) levels were the vehicles were integral to getting from platfrom to platform, expect more fleshed out, realized and expanded upon. Then I saw the videos, :(

And to make it worse one of the Rare employees says they are trying to evolve the platformer genre, and it's like, really? This is how you evolve the genre?

I'm glad a simple concept like "hold A to glide" was replaced by a machine.

Just admit that it is a radical direction for the series, with hardly anything in common with the first two, gameplay-wise.
Rare wanted to do something different. Not just make a high-res Banjo 3.

Anyone who's memory is still fuzzy, watch that. Rare 3d platformers are always more spread out and about collecting stuff/exploring, than navigating jumps and whatnot.

Same way Ratchet is more blowing up crap than straight up platforming.

Some of you guys just seem to be hating for nostalgia sake. The game is STILL the same BK just with added vehicle construction to make it to different stages or sections in a stage. Kinda like Mario's various hats. There is no reason to believe that Kazooie doesnt play a vital part in navigating stuff either.

After the 20 pages the discussion is still going without any advancement? Maybe both camps are right to a certain extend?

That's a good thing in my opinion. We've been there, done that twice already.

Wow. We've "been there, done that" twice or more times in how many video game franchises that have retained their core mechanics?

This is true. It is just way too early to really tell. If the vehicles are used effectively then it will be wonderful. Though, there is the risk that having them will break the game: that jigsaw way up high? Why climb to get it when you can fly overhead and take a leap of faith?

Seeing talk about Super Mario 64 reminds me that I probably missed a great game because I was unwilling to accept the direction a franchise went.

Oh well, true platforming has to be in 2D. Anything else is just a 3D adventure game...Mario is the same as Tomb raider, just with different art styles.

I really did like Spyro though (what's the term you guys are using? collectathon?). There were some real challenges if you wanted 100% completion.

Wow, trying to sound like Shane will get you places. Stating a point you disagree with and then saying "really?" on the end is not an argument.

Gamevideos is really fast for me after the redesign, not sure why you guys are still getting terrible speed from it.

Hearing that music is so nostalgic for me, I want it nowwwww.

You are disappointed with the direction, fine. What do you hope to resolve with your continued arguing?
I can't speak for him, but there's no reason for anyone here to continue arguing once they've made their point.

Speaking of Shane, he will utterly destroy this on 1Up Yours.

The issue is some people clearly don't get the point, thus we go round and round...

So I just read the 1up preview. WTF seriously Rare you turned Banjo into a vehicle shooter/racing and turned Kazoo into some type of beam emiting live gravity gun, WTF. Still as a new Banjo game and a (semi)-platformer in a generation filled with shooters I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pumped...

Game gets the hate because RARE made it, blowing up Mario brought the fury of Nintendo fans upon us...

This game looks amazing and a step above everything else RARE has released. It's still in development though, I wouldn't worry much about the font or framerate.

Why is everything on this site a battle? =(

I have no problem with people who like the game and not even with those who like that it's Banjo moving forward, but why is it ":lol bitter tears" to have an opinion that's against that?

Is it because you guys are the majority?

Why is disappointment after waiting 10 years for a sequel to an awesome awesome game so hard to accept?

Give fans time to get over it.

As much as I'm looking forward to Banjo 3, I can honestly say the trailers did not meet my anticipation. But that's fine, as it seems Rare knows what they want to do, and that's what matters.

If he likes LBP I'm sure he'll like this game.
Anyone interested in the furthering of the genre can't be opposed to genuine cleverly designed creative empowerment.

Well its different when the hate is based on something irrational or unfounded. We've seen short minute clips of the game, and people are claiming that all the original elements are gone. No one knows that for sure except Rare.

Some of you guys are crazy. After seeing the screens and now these vids, this is at the top of my list of most wanted 360 games. Everything Crushed has said about this being a natural evolution of BK gameplay is dead-on from where I sit.

And wow @ all the Mario backlash in this thread.

You need to play the first three Crash Bandicoot games and the first Sly Cooper.

Are you kidding me? I feel like I'm surrounded!

I'm down with discussion when it's interesting and thoughtful, it's clear some people (not yourself) are just here to hate.

Rare said they removed Kazooie's abilities...

That's enough for a lot of us to be upset.

Mostly because people (not you) are

a) misrepresenting the game

and

b) using it as an excuse to troll rare and bring up the whole nintendo sells rare argument again

We do know one thing: Banjo did not jump once, so that has been removed.

I really wish the Rare trolls would leave too. The game looks fantastic (though I need to see more to make sure it's not a DOA gameplay mechanic).

It was bound to happen anyway.

Also I still dont see how anyone thinks any 3d platformer (besides Crash) is linear.

I'm all ears for your suggestions.

Like said I earlier, it would have been awesome if the vehicles were used more for platforming, and I mean real platforming, more than one, and in a series.

wtf
They outright said that they replaced his abilities with the block building aspect. Who could we believe if not a Rare employee?

But sadly during your whole playthrough of the game you did not find this.
