The numbers are good and all but it was a free preview weekend for DirecTV.

Also I feel like the main dude was the least interesting character in the pilot.

The teenage daughter that was making out with that guy in the car. He seemed a little too interested in her ID, age, etc... when he stole her wallet. I was working under the assumption that she was conceived before he went to prison, but maybe I'm reading way too much into this.

You're not. They made that obvious.

The Banshee Facebook page is being updated with a timeline of the previous like... 20 years of events that happened in the Banshee universe. I now know what the deal is between Sugar and Kai Proctor.

Man, they're running really fast and loose with the spoilers for this show. Lots of stuff being spilled via the gifs, web pages, Facebook page, etc... Perhaps it's mostly back story, but it's an interesting strategy nonetheless.

As far as I know, free preview weekends are not counted in the ratings.
That's my understanding, as well.

Maybe the things being revealed on the webpages, comic, etc. aren't going to be addressed on the show? Maybe they're not really "spoilers"?

Perhaps that's it. I think the one that surprised me was the gif page which is chock full of stuff that hasn't happened yet from the show, but I suppose that's no different than watching a preview for an upcoming episode. Just thought it was a curious way to do things.

Yeah, the GIF page is a really strange thing to have at this point.

Well thats pretty shitty.

I don't mind so much, cause it's pretty interesting. I actually really wanna see how they play it on the show if they address it. I do dig how elaborate and extensive they're making the backstory of the series.

Yeah, this could be the case. But I've got a feeling some of it will be, like the Sugar/Proctor thing. Seems like we might see the reveal.

I don't mind so much, so I'll end up mining the GIF page cause I have a tendency to post lots of GIFs, hahaha.

I'll avoid posting anything spoilery though, no worries.

Still enjoying this, even though it's pretty rough around the edges.

"Go get pregnant."

Lafayetteturnedupto11 is prolly the best part of the show so far.

As people said, it is rought in some parts, but it's just damn entertaining. I really like how the hero is shaping, the troubles with being a policemen, his general adorable assholeness and his glorious sherifing methods :D

Plus damn..that secret amish girl was nicely built,

Also...I hope people know about the post-credit sequences.

Also, I like how it's like his first or second day on the job and he's not even bothering to pretend he's a cop. The solution to all of his problems seem to be:

1. Beat the shit out of them.
2. Tell them to GET THE FUCK OUTTA MY WAY
3. Oh, you got a gun? Go ahead and shoot me, pussy! Do it! ARGHASFJHAK!

Caught up with the first two episodes.

Pros:
  • I dig the opening credits.
  • Action sequences are actually rather nice
  • Lafayette's brother from another mother is a riot. I love him already.
  • The villain is excellent. Much better than I expected. Like, really good.
  • That amish daughter. Got. DAMN. Son.
  • Sugar is a bit of a broken black con stereotype (writers even had the gall to spew it to you), but I like him anyway. Cool actor.
Cons:
  • Some shoddy writing all around, like the main protagonist not giving a fuck about trying to pass for a sheriff or the father (whatever his name is) no talking to him after taking his daughter back from that rave. Man, there is some seriously shit parenting in this show.
  • Production values are a mixed bag. Action scenes are great and for the most part the show looks good, but sometimes it also looks like a cheap soap opera.
  • I know this is Cinemax and stuff, but I think the show may be a bit too sleazy for its own good. Just a bit.

Random musings:
  • Hood looks like Andy Whitfield's low IQ brother. The way he walks around with his arms half open is kind of distracting.
  • Jesus Christ, Deva is making me REALLY unconfortable. Surely the actress is of age, right?
  • Soo... how much time is going to pass before the hot female cop or the grumpy one discover Hood's identity?

Overall it's true that the show is a bit rough around the edges, but it's also very enjoyable. I'll keep watching.

I definitely enjoyed it. Only two gripes. The fight scene in the bar. Why did the sheriff try to block a shot with his hand instead of shooting him? And why did the other bad guy not shoot him the second he shot his friend? The other gripe is the romantic interest. She's really ugly. I hope he goes for the cop instead. I know I'm being shallow, but it really bothers me for some reason.
Ivana Miličević is smoldering. You are wrong.

It's an Alan Ball show on Cinemax. I said it would be T&A central before it even started. I'm cool with the sleaze.

On your second point, you couldn't be more right.

Eh, it was alright this week. A noticeable step down from the pilot, but still amusing enough to continue. I probably didn't enjoy it quite as much because they didn't focus on some of more entertaining secondary characters.

Ah, thanks. Didn't know there was anything there.

That was awesome. I gotta agree with Clevinger's assessment of Hood's sherriffing. So fucking funny. And damn, I think I may be developing a thing for sexy Amish girls. And I sort of admire Proctor. He does all his own shit by himself. Delivers bribes, disposes of bodies, etc. Respect. Moody Brothers will probably come back and get their asses kicked again. Still intrigued by Proctor's assistant. That dude's gonna fuck somebody up royally soon. Also, the credits changed! I dug that. Jod is still awesome.

At times, Dava (what kind of name is that) reminded me of Dana from Homeland. But not in a good way. Also, who was that dude that Carrie randomly started fighting with halfway through? Next episode seems like it'll continue Hood kicking everyone's ass in lieu of arresting them. Also, was that the real Hood's son calling on the phone? It said 'Jason'.

I believe the guy was just a martial arts instructor. It was a throwback to earlier when Hood said that she had been training. You can also notice it during the end of the first episode where she threw down her husband when the Moody Brother started shooting. I am guessing she has been training for a fight since being on the run. I could be wrong though.

I enjoyed it. My only problem so far is that Hood's actions should cause someone to look deeper into the man. He's not even bothering to pretend to be a cop. How much are they going to let this slide until someone says "Hey, this guy ain't right. Maybe I should look into him." Granted, it's only the second episode, but he gotten away with a lot of crap that it should have dawned on someone that Hood may not be what he seems to be.

My god the daughter in this is adept at getting her ass into potential trouble.

I guess small town means that you'll always be seeking out thrills.

Why doesn't Cinemax have deals with itunes, Vudu, Amazon, Cinemanow, etc. to show their original content? I wanted to check this show out but it's not available anywhere where you can usually buy a season pass for pretty much any show on TV.

I'm not gonna subscribe to Cinemax just to watch this show. They offer episodes free on their website but it's shitty resolution. They need to catch up with every other network and make content readily available.

I think I'm about done with this one. They seem to put more of the story on the internet than they do in the actual show.
