If I buy a 10 game flex-pack of Blue Jays tix I get first chance to buy playoff tickets...

:lol :lol :lol

:lol Yeah, I saw that. Do you know why you can't order season tickets on their site? I went there, and I only saw an option for renewing them. I'm curious how much it would cost to get season seats for the upcoming year.

Did I hear right? 65 mil for 5 years for Beltre? What happened to Big Bad Boras?
13 million a year is still overpaying for someone who only had one good season. I seriously don't know what the fuck is up with all the contracts being handed out like free pussy this winter. I know, I know, the Mets started it by signing Benson to that ludicrous deal, but letting the Mets determine the market is like letting Reirom be a spelling bee judge. It doesn't compute.

I guess Boras took whatever deal he could, knowing that no one would actually fall for Beltre playing like that in a contract year. Still though...Boras was praising Beltre for having "THE GREATEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE BY A 3RD BASEMAN IN MLB HISTORY"

The only reason I'm interested in Beltre was cause....well, I expected him to get a similar, if not a little less, than Beltran would get. By the way Boras was hyping him anyway. I'd take Beltran ANY DAY over Beltre, but yea, whatever.

I think this Beltran deal will get done in early January. Astros can only offer a deal til then, and after a certain date (I don't remember what that date is), they can't offer Beltran another deal until May.

Yankees seem to be the only other bidder. If Boras passes the deadline...then Beltran's stock plummets, pricewise anyway. Yankees don't have to outbid anyone, and would get Beltran cheaper than normal. In order for Boras to get the most money for Beltran, it'd have to get done before the Astros' deadline is over.

the problem with Beltran is the amount of year Boras is asking for, which is 7 to 10 years. Teams just don't want to take on long term contracts like that. If he was asking for $13m to $15m for 4 or 5 years, then he would have already been signed.

And since I brought 'em up earlier, looks like the new Braves alt will be a red version of their home jersey.

And no, I don't think that will look good.

No idea on what the alt hat will look like though.

I would assume the M's but steroid language in Beltre's contract. He bulked up considerably in 2004 and his power numbers up as well.

Holy shit that's not too bad a deal. It's the complete end of the farm system, but Vazquez, Navarro and Duncan for Johnson... far better then the original insanity.

so the Dodgers would be trading Shawn Green, Brad Penny (a legit number 1 starter when he's healthy) and Yhency Brazoban(a young stud of a setup man) for Javier Vasquez and the Yankees shitty excuse for "prospects"? Does George Steinbrenner have pictures of DePodesta in a 3-way with a goat and a 6 year old girl?

If Depodesta is stupid enough to give up Brad Penny and Yhancy, he should be fired. Who the hell is gonna be our setup man? Dreifort!!! UGH! :Shoves Dodgers gear in the back of the closet...:

LOL, after trading for Penny which was supposed to earn us Johnson, were giving Penny to help the Yankees get Johnson once and for all! MAAAAAAAAAAAAAN! FUK DA YANKEES!

:lol Not to mention, with Beltre and Finley already gone, and now Green, where the FUCK is the Dodger offense supposed to come from? Cesar Izturis batting in the 3 spot?

Im guessing they expect Kent and Jailhouse Bradley to blow up in the coming season. Last I heard Werth wasnt doing to good yet either. Another thing, who the hell is gonna be our catcher?

I posted about the Hudson trade based off what the beat writer for the Brave's AAA team posted on the biggest Brave's message Board about 48 hours ago. He was right on the money too. He has very good connections in the Brave's organization.

Now he is saying the Braves and Cubs are working on a deal: Hampton for Sosa and Farnsworth.

It makes alot of sense. Cubs desperately want to move Sosa. Braves desperately need an outfielder (or 2). Farnsworth and Sosa both have bad blood between them and Baker now, which means both will probably be traded before the offseason is over.

If this were to happen, my head would explode. And I would be very happy about it too, since I pull for both teams.

All I know is the Braves WILL aquire two more outfielders, probably sooner than later. It is easy to tell something is going on.

The Braves corner outfielders at the end of last season were Eli Marrero and Charles Thomas. Both were traded today.

In fact, AFTER the Hudson trade, he traded Eli Marrero for a relief pitcher. Why would he do that if he didn't have some other deal in the works for an outfielder or two?

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.
From Clutchfan forums...

"Just said on Sportscenter that the Stros were increasing to a predicted 100 mill for 7 years for Beltran.I believe that they said this was relayed to them by Scott Boras, so take it with a grain of salt, though"

This has to be the final Stros offer and what would this put the payroll at next year? How the heck would they resign anyone else later on *Berkman/Roy-O* or sign any other free agents this year.

Eminem

goddamit, Griese!
Sosa and Farnsworth for Hampton? wow. Sosa is a strike out machine scrub, and Farnsworth lost whatever he had last year. Wildly inconsistant, home run machine.
If that happens, great deal for the Cubs.

So Shawn Green, Jewish, goes from the big Jewish community in Toronto, to the even bigger Jewish community in LA, to one of the major places Jews go to retire, Arizona...

So I guess he's at the end of his career

Lily, Halladay, Towers, Bush, Batista... all they need is to fix their bullpen.

There are rumours of first baseman Erubiel Durazo coming over from Oakland for a trade... What are your thoughts?

So would they be trading Hinske back to Oakland?

I don't know much about Durazo

But they are in the market for John Olerud apparentally

Hail to the KING baby
Shawn Green & prospects for Randy. Beh. But it's a helluva lot better than what was on the table before.

Oh and I can't wait to see how Durazo plays w/o roids.

wow. This is the kinda shit that made me root AGAINST the dodgers, despite being from LA. DePodesta should be fired. Not only does he make a stupid trade, but he helps bail out George Steinbrenner and the fucking Yankees?!?

Welp, Vazquez was a top NL pitcher... bah, it's an awful trade for LA.

Penny, while he could be a number 1, has gone through some shit stretches and has been hurt. However, he's never collapsed for half a season and he actually turned it on in the playoffs / World Series.

How desperate to get rid of Shawn Green could they possibly be?

If we can get Durazo straight up for Hinske or close to that, I'd love it. He'd fit in nicely, I hope... :D

Penny was really good in those couple of starts while he was healthy. With as low as Vazquez stock was, they basically cancel each other out. So you are basically GIVING AWAY Yency Brazoban just to get rid of Shawn Green's contract (which is up in a year or 2 anyway)? and not getting ANY offense in return? I guess they are freeing up money to sign Beltran or something.

yo fuck Adrian Beltre. That's all I have to say about that. As for the other deal.. getting rid of Brazoban is the worst move we could possibly do. He was seriously on par with Mota and saved our asses last year... good God what an awful move.

THE BIG FUCKIN UNIT! WOO!

the red sox lose pedro martinez and the yankees gain randy johnson within 24 hours!

how is newsday always getting the big scoops? big thumbs up to them.

Hail to the KING baby
If the Dodgers don't get a lot of hitting really soon they are going to have the worst offense in the history of sports. Just a few hours ago I was thinking that before they lost Green. Holy Jesus, they could be making history here.

I don't know what they're planning on doing, but after all the trades last year...and the fact that they've basically lost all of those people they acquired for a half assed run and replaced them with Jeff "I reckon I was washing my truck" Kent and Javier "I swear I'm not hurt" Vazquez... sheesh that sucks. I feel for you Dodger fans.

Getting Vazquez and Weaver on the same team.... I think they need to sign Contreras and convince Hideki Irabu to come back. Have the all Ed Whitson pitching staff.

The moves just get worse and worse...

the Weaver move wasn't that bad. They got Brazoban and unloaded Kevin Brown and his ridiculous contract (not to mention that Weaver had a better/on par year stat wise to Brown for a fraction of the $$). The Yankees are the ones that got hosed on that deal. (and don't give me the "Weaver couldn't handle playing in NY" line, it has less to do with that, and more to do with the Yankees having a shitting set of pitching coaches...see Javier Vazquez...)

Olerud? He's making 7.7 Million. Jays can't afford him...although he would get more fans on the seats. Someone like Durazo who makes 1/4 of Olerud and have better numbers is obviously a better move. Also, someone from TSN mentioned about signing Steve Kline who played for Cardinals last year. I'd say pay him the 1.7 mill as the closer and move Batista back to the lineup. Forget Clement....

some funny perspective from the Sons of Sam Horn messageboard:
Looking at the "bright" side of things...

NY traded Jeff Weaver, Brazobhan, Nick Johnson, Eric Duncan, Dioner Navarro, Juan Rivera, and Javy Vazquez for Randy Johnson and Kevin Brown

Brian Cashman...SUPER GM! :lol

they are also reporting in that thread that some sources say the deal isn't QUITE yet final. Supposedly the Dodgers might backout cause they agreed upon this BEFORE Beltre bolted for Seattle. Probably wary of losing Green along with Beltre. Also, some are saying that Randy might want to stay in AZ afterall. (i wonder if George would make him shave the moustache :lol)

Smoltz with the Braves through 2007!!!!!! Wooohooo!!! :) Though from talk, it may be his last contract. :( And Tim Hudson!!! Plus relievers Dan Kolb from the Brewers and Jorge Vasquez (sp?) from the Royals. And from what I've heard, there's still a good deal of money left for the team to look for a couple of good batters.

2005 is looking better and better! :) :)
