A braves fan talking about choking... dude just shut up... :lol
What the Braves do isn't choking. It's quiely rolling over and presenting their lubed up a-hole to their opponents. What the Mets do is choking, and you should know it.

Kazmir for Zambrano! Kazmir for Zambrano! Mo Vaughn! Mo Vaughn! Kaz Matsui! Kaz Matsui! Paydro! Paydro!

I mean, how in the blue name of fuck do you defend those moves? Meanwhile, the Braves just added two top of the rotation starters. And we're not done yet. Sure we'll probably end up stanking it up in the playoffs again, but with Smoltz and Hudson anything could happen. You guys enjoy your 4th place finish again this year.

Daric Barton is one of the best young hitting prospects in the game - top 5 easily - Calero is a solid reliever that's cheap and Haren is a young, cheap 4th/5th starter. That's a pretty good haul for the A's considering their place in the market.

Mulder got lit up in the 2nd half last year and had his season end due to injury for the 2nd time in as many years. I don't think STL made out like many of the initial reactions I've read suggest they have. It could easily turn out to be an even trade and maybe worse for STL.

You would think after last years pathetic/epic collapse you wouldnt make these stupid and absurd predictions....do Cubs fans ever learn?

Seriously you have a greater chance of walking outside and getting run over by a parked car then ever seeing the Cubs win 115 games or a World Series.

A source involved in the discussions told Newsday that Javier Vazquez's refusal to report to the Dodgers for a physical was the primary reason for the deal falling through.

:lol :lol :lol

edit: what was the reasoning behind the stros letting Wade go?

Luis Rivas posts a .283 OBP in a hitters' park and gets signed to one year at $1,625,000, an eight percent raise.

My god, I wish I were an MLB player.

stupid vazquez, steinbrenner is gonna personally strangle him like homer does to bart.

i know you dont want to hear this joe, but this is better for the team in the long run.
i'm a bit dissapointed but i'm also glad that we keep the younger guys. randy also wanted an extension (for how long?!?!) so that's unreasonable.

now if we could only get the farm system up and running again....

We offered him a 1 year deal with incentives based on performance and he didn't take it. He still wants to pitch here but the Astros have no idea if he'll be healthy; he hasn't even begun to throw yet.

Don't worry, Solrac. I'm sure Steinboss isn't done yet, not by a long shot. He'll figure out how to get the Unit, no matter what.

Not unreasonable at all. BU's going to pitch until he's at least 45 and once he gets that bionic arm implant, it's to 50+ years baby! ;)

Johnson will still go to the Yanks, just via another third team. Vazquez will still get traded.

It was a terrible deal for the Dodgers. When you think about all they would have given up, and go back to last year's deals, they'd have essentially traded LoDuca, Mota, Green, Penny and others for Vazquez and prospects.

Cubsfan speaks the truth.

2005 IS THE YEAR OF THE CUBS! LET THE HYPE COMMENCE!

I can't wait to see the reactions to all you NL central biatches (AND YANKEES FANS) when we land Beltran! Boras is waiting on the Cubs to unload Sosa and then the deal will go down!

Although I think 115 wins is shortchanging us Cubsfan! Once we land Beltran it is definitely in our grasp to win at least 140 games in 2005! You might as well hand the World Series title to the Cubs now we are going to crush the competition into dust! Too bad for Houston, especially. Cubs handed them their one chance on a silver platter last year and the Disastros blew it.

Oh and I do feel sorry for Cards fans. In 2004 their entire rotation peaked and overachieved at the same time. Now with the addition of Mulder the think they have a stellar rotational staff when in reality they have one good starter and four scrubs. The rest of the staff will return to its mediocre state in 2005.

As for Reds fans, I wouldn't even talk until you can get a team to play over.500 ball consistently. Your team sucks, just accept your fate now! But thanks for taking Mercker! :D

ah, the usual before season cubs fans chest thumping is taking place...so nice. i much prefer the sorrow and anquish that occurs near the end of the season as the cubs tailspin from 1st to 3rd in a matter of weeks.

the cubs are good, but they're not better than the reds. as for the astros... :lol their fans are going to be wondering how they went from 1st to 5th in a year.

What happened to your Reds last year? Man what was up with that pathetic ass pitching and look for Griffey Jr to break his hip again.

I see them finishing 4th place and thats with some luck.

sure.

what happens to the reds is what happens to them every year: injuries. this is a fact. they are consistently the best team in the division before play starts, but fate has a better plan for them evidently.

The Miami Herald reported on Wednesday that Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez has agreed to a two-year, $8 million deal to join the South Siders, pending a physical.

oh snap. nice.

Buehrle/Garcia/Duque/Contreras/Garland

Not too bad.

i'm kinda turned off by the whole thing to be honest. that so-called yankees president (he got the job as a favor from guilliani) randy levine was talking crap today about the dodgers being weasels or something.
EARTH TO RANDY: dodgers were getting shafted. i knew they wouldnt do it. they'd be crazy to do it. i must be the only yankees fan who wants to cut down payroll and rebuild a halfway decent farm system. no wonder everyone says i'm crazy but i just dont wanta repeat of the 1980's again...... :(

p.s : IF we do get randy i'd be happy of course but it just wont make sense in the long run.

Dude, the Reds wouldn't be the best team in ANY division.

Good thing they dumped Contreras. Leiber and him were the only 2 decent starters the Yanks had the second half of the season until Torre and Stottlemeyer let him throw 7,418 pitches in that one game that killed his arm. They better sign someone else to fill in after Wright blows out his arm the 2nd month of the season...

NL Central isn't looking great right now. St. Louis lost Renteria and Williams, but the addition of Mulder should keep them at the top. Houston has already lost Miller and Kent and could lose Beltran and Clemens too. Chicago lost Clement and Alou. The Reds have a nice looking lineup (when healthy) but their rotation looks terrible. The Pirates figure to have good pitching but not a lot of offense. Even with the addition of Carlos Lee, the Brewers don't have much offense and don't have much pitching either besides Sheets. The Cards will take the division again but anything could happen with the rest of the teams. Of course, if the Cubs or Astros make any big moves, they could put themselves in a position to be really good.

If there is one thing Cubs and Astros fans can agree on is that the Reds still suck!

Trust me dude, getting rid of Alou is a beautiful thing. Less off field BS to worry about.
