Now that sounds like a plan. I'll tell my boss that I'll be back in a half hour, and go down a couple of Newcastles.

:lol :lol

"Uh, sir...it was suggested by a random internet user that I go get drunk. I'll be back in a bit!"

Cool, Boggs will go in wearing a Sox Cap.
Story

``The logo selection is based on where that player makes his most indelible mark,'' Hall president Dale Petroskey said Friday.

`The choice of which team's logo appears on a player's plaque is our decision,'' he said. `The wishes of each inductee were considered, but ultimately, it is important that the logo be emblematic of the historical accomplishments of that player's career.''

Note these words when Clemens bitches about wearing Sox and they bow down and let him go as a Yank.

Even though I've been giving the Disastros fans a ton of shit on the issue in this thread, I really don't want the Cubs to sign Carlos Beltran. Now, would I be unhappy if the Cubs got him? Heck no. But if we get him we would end up grossly overpaying for him. I don't think he is worth the 100 million dollar + contract he is being offered right now.

I got my eye on another south side outfielder right now. If Maggs gets a clean bill of health from doctors, I want the Cubs to swoop him up in a heartbeat. I think a healthy Maggs would be better for the Cubs team than Beltan. We can sign him to a one year "Prove to us you are completely healthy" deal, and if he ends up OK we can splurge at the end of the year because we will be unloading Sosa. Or resigning him at a reduced price. Cubs already got in over their heads on one overpriced contract (Sosa), they don't need to be hamstrung by another. Beltran needs to put up better stats to prove his worth. Maybe he'll earn it over time but right now I don't see it.

I feel the same regarding the Mets. While I want to get younger, part of me would really rather have Delgado and Maggs for a realistic amount than Beltran at silly money. For the Mets, in addition to the dough, he'd be considered the savior of the franchise. I just don't think he's that kind of player. Very, very good, but his career stats don't bear out the comparisons the money we're talking about makes. And soon Piazza, Floyd and Glavine come off the payroll.

(ok, I threw in the Boras thing at the last minute, shut up)

Cee-B, and Satan Boras - Collision Course Remix ft/ DJ MiG

[Intro: Satan Boras]
When I pretend everything is what I want it to be
I look exactly like what I always wanted to see
When I pretend, I can't forget about the criminal I am
Stealing second after second just cause I know I can but
I can't pretend this is the way it'll stay I'm just
Trying to bend the truth
I can't pretend the Mets are really in it, so I'm
Lying my way from

[Chorus: DJ MiG]
If you feelin like a pimp, Carlos, go and brush your agent off
Drayton's a pimp too, go and brush Scott Boras off
Mets fans is crazy, baby, don't forget Mo Vaughn
I told you
Get, Beltran off of Boras

[Verse One: Cee-B]
I probably owe it to y'all, proud to play ball for the 'Stros
Tryin to hustle some things, like a free cut for my fro
Feelin no remorse, feelin like my hand was forced
Middle finger to Boras, quit grip'n my balls*
All the ladies they love me, from the bleachers they screamin
All the ballers is bouncin they like the way I be stealin
All the Mets be hatin, off the runs that I'm makin
But all the players they love it just to see one of us make it
Came from the Royals, and now I'm, to the pros with the Stros'
New York, Chicago, screw that, I'm straight Houston, for real.
Like a Say Hey and Joe D, get it man, I'm straight center field.
I can blast it out Houston, cause I'm straight out the field.

You gotta get, Bel-tran off of Boras
You gotta get, Bel-tran off of Boras
You gotta get, Bel-tran off of Boras
You gotta get, Bel-tran off of Boras

mlb and the players union donated a million to the tsunami fund, yankees donated a million, and hideki matsui donated $480,000 of his own money to the fund.

:lol

wow...everyone can thank the mets for all these overpaid 3/4/5 starters.

and nomar must want to kill himself. first he turns down a fat contract from the red sox, then they trade him and the red sox win a championship, and now he probably signed the biggest bargain contract of the off-season.

No. If the Dodgers are stupid enough to pay that much for Lowe then it's their fault. It's not like they are at his mercy.

ROFL

I can't believe that contracts are getting out of hand again....does no one remember the Rangers getting their balls in a vise after signing A-Rod?

i was listening to mike and mike on espn radio this morning and they were talking to gammons. gammons was talking about how arod and boras took the rangers 250 million dollar offer which barely exceeded the second highest offer of 95 million.

:lol

i mean shit, how stupid can you be. this guy has an endless pool of cash...but 250 million???

Joe: I believe the Rangers outbid themselves 2 or more times. They had an offer of like 180, then 200ish, then 250. Haha.

If Beltran doesn't sign tonight, then the Astros are definately out of it due to MLB rules.

Mets seem to be the only other serious bidder, and if the deadline passes, then the Mets can take back their offer and then Beltran and Boras are S.O.L.

DIE METS!!!!!

You think I didnt know that? You think I dont know whats really up with Beltran :lol

I knew about that spoof through the clutchfans.com forum,I was just fucking around.

Oh ok. I might feel bad that I was tricked if my team was in the running for him. :D I still hope the Astros get him, although wouldn't the joke be a brutal one if it turned out to be true.

local fox news station(kabb11 - "at nine it's news, at 10 it's history!) is reporting that beltran has signed with the mets. news conference tomorrow at 1cst. apparently, deal is worth 180m/10 years.

SAY HELLO TO LAST PLACE, ASSSTROS!

CHANCE CHANCE CHANCE!

well, i'm just informing you all what i had just heard on the local news. i really couldn't give a shit either way, seeing as how beltran isn't worth 100 million, much less 180m. anyway, anything that results in the destruction of texas teams is a good thing in my eyes.

Sorry Mig. I know it sucks to lose a player you like a whole lot. But at least he wasn't there for years or anything- I think that sucks worse. Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux leaving pissed me off to no end, but at least we're gonna keep Smoltz.
