I was thinking 50/50 split based on what the movie presented, but I wasn't too sure given that it's hard to quantify as you mentioned. The problem I have is that Snyder doesn't give enough build up, nor show how the public perception has changed from what he originally presents. The 50/50 split ends up being 100% respect during his funeral with no development for the negative crowd.
As for your point about rejecting the notion, I would argue that they would. People have made complaints about how much power Superman represents and how it's unsettling (not to mention the Westboro parallels when some crowds had "God Hates Aliens" and "Earth Belongs to Humans"). With that hate messaging in mind, it's not out of the ordinary to expect people to be satisfied with.his death
Finally we know Batmans one true weakness , anyone named Martha .
Imagine if lexs mum was named Martha , him and bats would be friends .
Crap like this REALLY needs to stop.
I like how the majority of the scenes that were taken out were about Superman. How does that even happen when this is a Batman AND Superman movie?
??Crap like this REALLY needs to stop.
Looking forward if it is better the second time. At the cinema i laughed out loud because it sounded really ridiculous and bad at that moment. Judging the BvS OT i was not the only one who thought this.Watched the UC with my girlfriend and her brother last night. It was their first time seeing the movie. I didn't like the TC. I thought it was a bad movie back then and the UC doesn't change that opinion much. Yeah, there were some improvements but the first two acts were still boring and everything Doomsday in the third act is just terrible. I like that Supes is more of a character now though. TC was a 5 for me. I would give the UC a 6. The GF found the movie boring. Then again, she's not much of a fan of comic book movies. The couple CB movies she's enjoyed have been TDK and GOTG. As for her brother, he enjoyed it a bit more than us though he didn't like the Doomsday stuff. He and I both agree that WW's entrance in that fight was badass. Her theme is still so damn good.
Nope.
Watching the UC, the editor just cut whatever he thought he could get away with. Affleck and Irons were acting the shit out of their scenes, so it's obvious what needs to go if you're aiming for 2.5 hours. It hurt the movie, though.
Eh, having only seen the UC, this was handled in a very clunky manner.Crap like this REALLY needs to stop.

How else would you interpret that scene, because as of last night it still seemed that way?It really does. "THATS MY MOM'S NAME!" Isn't the point of the scene at all, and everyone knows that. It's fine to think it was executed or written poorly, but to keep passing this off as the meaning of the scene is borderline-trolling. It's designed to purely illicit an argumentative response. It's pretty obvious they didn't "become friends" because of the name.
waiting till I can rent itI'm tempted. I didn't hate the film though it has obvious, severe problems. I don't think I'm ready to pay for the privilege of watching 30 more minutes of it.
Exactly how I saw it, even in the first viewing. Meme's made this moment bad for the most, which is sad me thinks. The name triggered a kind of PTSD in Batman, which it could. He did she her get shot in the face when he was 10 years old.
That brought him out of the moment long enough to realize that he was going to kill a person who had a mother, not just some alien, and you can see him get disgusted at himself.
How else would you interpret that scene, because as of last night it still seemed that way?
It can't be "oh he has a mom too?"
Because at the very start of the fight Bruce is talking about "what did your parents teach you"
Is it because it's a "human" mom?
You can't deny that the uttering of the name that their mothers share did not just throw Batman for a loop.
I agree. It's written and executed poorly. But I don't think that people leave the movie honestly believe their mom's having the same name is why we are going to have a Justice League.
I get the joke. It's just old at this point and when that joke is literally all you can contribute to the discussion, it seems pointless to me.

I didn't get thebit. It was incredibly difficult to hear what he was saying and it was just like kFlash
Is this insider info? :OHe said "I'M FORESHADOWING A FRANCHISE! THERE'S GOING TO BE A JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE!IS VERY OBVIOUSLY NOT GOING TO LAST AT ALL!"SUPERMAN'S DEATH
Well, that scene was hyped as tear inducing, feelings moving on the audience. Instead it came as goofy.
You can understand why people joke on it.

What does he mean by too soon?Essentially"Bruce, you were right about him. This whole time you were right about him. It's Lois. Lois Lane, she's the key. Am I too soon? Argh, I'm too soon!"
What does he mean by too soon?
finally watch the UC, final rating:
TC: 4/10
UC: 4.5/10.
Fong was right.

I'm still chuckling that they re-titled the movie in the open credits as being the Ultimate Edition.
30 minutes less means more showtimes which means more potential $$$. So basically it was hubris that led to a lot of this.
Or the fact that the general movie-goer scoffs at any movie over 2hrs long. The ideal runtime for the masses is 90mins. 2hrs is acceptable. 2.5hrs is pushing it. 3hrs is a deal breaker. Studios don't make decisions on a whim. They've done their research. They know audiences don't like long movies.

Is the title in the opening credits still tucked away in the bottom right corner of the screen?
I always thought that was a really weird, unusually understated way of presenting something called BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN
Just watched it last night and found it much better than the TC. Acts 1 and 2 much better, though Act 3 is still the worst part of the film.
Watching it again I really don't have a problem with the Martha thing. The UC does a great job of building up Batmans perception of Superman as someone unhuman, uncaring and unremorseful. That moment when Bruce hears his mothers name his perceptions come crashing down around him and he's no longer able to view Superman as the monster he had built up in his head. That then allows Superman and Louis to explain the situation to him and how Lex played them both.
It's not like Superman just says "MAAARTHA" and Bat's is like "DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS!?" It's literally just the bombshell that allows the conversation to take place.

Avatar ? Titanic ? Avenger ? LOTR ... Great/Good movies will have audience no matter what.
I totally didn't realize Lauren Cohan played Martha Wayne when I first saw the movie. While watching the Ultimate Edition last night, I actually questioned if they recast the role for the new version. lol.
