Man it feels like a generation ago when these guys were considered the coolest shit in the world. It's kind of crazy how just about noone really talks about The Killers anymore.

So hyped for this. 4 years since D&A? Insane. Don't get the Day and Age dislike, though. Dustland Fairytale is one of the best songs The Killers have ever created and one of my favorite songs.

Day & Age is an amazing album -- right there with 808s as my favorites of 2008... can listen to both on repeat forever. Dustland Fairytale is definitely one of my all time favorite tracks as well. Epic is an understatement.

I hated Sam's Town and was pretty vocal on GAF about it for the first year or so of its release but at some point it just clicked for me and I started to love it. I am very excited for this album -- they're one of the best American bands of the past 10 years.. easily.

I hadn't until now and I love you so much. Love that song, and Brandon... is my favorite singer.

Wow, great first single release. So glad they are back. Brandon's voice seems stronger than before. A lot of shades of Sam's Town on here which is my personal favorite of their albums.

Not available in my country. Fucking amazing.

Amaaaazzing.

I love the entire "idea" of this album. The whole battle-born theme really resonates with me, and I absolutely love the military drum beat in Runaways. The very definition of "putting on a strong face," given the songs' content.

I'm throwing my money at my screen and nothing's happening! Why won't you let me buy you?!?!

After the second listen, I'm digging it. Though I kinda wanted to hear the syth song from the trailer.

So hyped to see them!!

It's OK; to be honest, I liked the entire 'mythic' theme of Day & Age more than songs like this but am more than willing to give the entire album a chance.

Damn those Grey-Manes to Oblivion. They want to back the Stormcloaks, they'll get what's coming to 'em.

I guess this was written during the Day & Age days.. explains why it's so fucking magical.

I bought the Live From Royal Albert Hall Blu-Ray on its release date and have never watched it. Oops. :lol

Personally A Dustland Fairytale and GoodNight, Travel Well are the only saving graces off of Day & Age with some passable and mediocre tumbleweeds flung inbetween. I'm a pro Hot Fuss/Sam's Town fella. This sounds ripped from their Sam's Town era. Album hype!

Hmm...I like it, but I'm not blown away. I listened to it with my ultra shitty headphones, so that may be why. I'll need to listen again later when I can pump up the volume on my speakers. I think it'll grow on me.

I remember being introduced to them during the Xbox reveal. Man can't believe that was 8 years ago.

Runaway sounds like a mix of When You Were Young and Day & Age, looking forward to it.

Love the new song. Can't wait for the new album.

I'm a big fan of The Killers, but I don't go nuts over everything they do. I've found something to like on every single album, even Sawdust, but I've never liked any of their albums from beginning to end, even Hot Fuss. I love the first half of Hot Fuss and then the second half just completely falls apart for me. Maybe 3-4 tunes on Sams Town - When You Were Young, and Bones being my favorite. Day and Age is about the same, 3-4 songs I can listen to from now til infinity and the rest are garbage.

The new song is pretty good.

Sounds more "Day & Age" than "Hot Fuss"... really wish they go back to the latter in terms of style but "Day & Age" was pretty decent.

Either way I'm looking forward to the album.

The Killers - 'Runaways'

The Killers are back, and at their best

Well, it’s good to know they’re not fucking about. Four years after ‘Day & Age’ saw them dip their toe into dancier waters, The Killers make their grand return with the Killersiest comeback single you could ever hope to hear. And frankly, it’s come not a moment too soon. See, one of the great fallacies of The Killers’ career is that 2006’s ‘Sam’s Town’ wasn’t their best album. If ‘Day & Age’ was a stylistic reaction to the unjust critical kicking their second record took, then ‘Runaway’ is the sound of the band re-embracing their inner Springsteen – haters be damned.

It takes a little time to get there – the chorus doesn’t properly kick in for almost two minutes – but you know just where this one is headed from the opening line onwards: “Blonde hair blowin’ in the summer wind/Blue-eyed girl playing in the sand”. And when that chorus finally does arrive? Hoo, boy. Amid a crescendo of windmilling, Townshend-esque guitars, Brandon’s tale of a dustbowl romance gone wrong transcends cliché, and instead enraptures you with the pure clench-fisted, bulgy-veined elation of it all. True, it’s unlikely to satisfy those aforementioned haters, but that’s their loss – this is pure Americanadrama as it’s meant to be done. Altogether now: “I knew it when I met you, I’m not gonna let you ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun…”

Do not understand Sam's Town hate, one of my favourite albums ever. That said, I think I was maybe too hyped for the single, left me a bit cold. It was nice to hear Flowers' voice on new material nonetheless, looking forward to more.
