Battleborn |OT| Multiplayer Online Bad-Ass Shooter

Is the Winter update out yet? Been holding off playing until it's out. I can't wait to play in 60 FPS / 4K on console.

So you mean you had no interest in the game in the first place and just wanted to bash it one last time, thanks for the shitpost.

Pay-for game currency doesn't exist in this game and anyone actually serious about buying the game would do a 1 second google search to compare prices and would immediately figure out the significant price difference between physical and digital and go for the cheaper option if they waited this long to jump into the game.

Glad you have nothing better to do than STILL shit on this game months later when it stopped being the cool game to hate once NMS came out, how about you move onto that game and go shitpost about it elsewhere.

Battleborn price is a literal joke.

Oh hey, look, you were totally aware of the game being available at a lower price at the time but still pretended to not know about that in order to shitpost here asshole.

Seriously, what a loser.

Whatever his intentions I don't think he deserved your remarks.

Last I heard it was in certification, but since 'everybody' is on break that doesn't mean much in terms of timing. If Sony finds a small glitch that could still delay it by weeks if nobody at Gearbox is available to fix it, and so on.

Game is so good at 60fps, you console players are in for a treat.

Supposedly next week or two weeks but we are still waiting for the announcement.

Why is the likes of this still not in community while Titanfall 2 was moved mere weeks after launch?

Maybe because community is pretty quiet or dead here, so moderators might be generous enough to let us to rebuild our community with really huge update coming up in couple of weeks, basically BattleBorn v2.

Yeah, I can see how my comments might have come off as shit-posting. Reading it back, I get that. Wasn't really my intention though. Honestly I had just jumped on PSN ready to pick up the game (I remember liking the beta somewhat) and was a bit annoyed to see not even a slight discount. Sixty bucks, still. When it's super cheap retail. Idk, that annoyed me. I posted on gaf about it.

I only buy digital games, so I guess that's on me. Just figured there would be some kind of discount... posting it, really made that guy very mad though. Sorry, guy.

Edit: what's with those links to my old posts? lol totally out of context, and one of them isn't even about this game.

It's $20 on Xbox Store right now. $23 for Deluxe Edition.

Katamari's the one man Battleborn Defense Force on GAF, only he takes the defense part way too seriously. I like the game, but I'm not going out of my way to defend it.

Why are you quoting me? I didn't say it and the guy that did was banned. Your post did seem a bit negative but his remarks were super rude and uncalled for. He could have explained his issue with your post without calling you an asshole. I do sympathise with his frustration however, there are lots of people that frequent the OTs on GAF just to periodically shitpost on a game that they do not play, and I really dislike that.

It's shame they haven't adjusted the digital price but if I were to hazard a guess I would say it's because they do not want people to buy it at the moment. Which might sound unusual but if they are antiicpating a free to play launch in the future, where characters would cost money, then being able to buy the paid version (where you would get all of the characters for free) for a very low price might devalue their prospective free to play model.

In the UK you can buy this game for £4 at retail. They can't match that price digitally realistically, so why drop the price at all? It would just encourage people to get a 'full' version of the game, where Gearbox would make little to nothing from it. Perhaps they believe that if they release a free to play version they could get more out of it, as people would buy characters etc and a cheap digital version beforehand would reduce the value of that later proposition.

That's purely speculation though. Other explanations include that they plan to lower the price later, or they just haven't bothered because they don't care about the game and it's sales all that much at this stage. One could argue that the writing has been on the wall for some time, and there's little Gearbox can do to turn things around.

In either eventuality in all likelihood it's worth picking it up for the retail price if you plan on playing it in the future. The retail version could easily be a bargain compared to typical free to play model (Paragon and Smite both charge around £15 to unlock all characters).

Katamari's the one man Battleborn Defense Force on GAF, only he takes the defense part way too seriously. I like the game, but I'm not going out of my way to defend it.

You don't defend a game by insulting people. I'm happy to defend this game and any game I like against criticism, with civil debate. That seemingly isn't Katamari's style.

Winter update seemed to light a fire in me. Played the game most of the weekend. Got Beatrix and Kid Ultra both up to lvl 15, unlocked a crazy amount of skins for several characters.

I'm doing the same thing, been playing a lot of Oscar Mike. Never really liked him before, but more than any other game, I get addicted to characters in Battleborn. I know I should bounce around and try others, but man, once a character clicks I don't want to use anybody else.

Still wish gear management was easier. It's such a slog and just generally not fun

I am really glad they have the bot matches now.. much quicker to get into them and having a blast leveling up fast this weekend. My son (10 years old) is now hooked.. loves it and so I bought him and his best friend a copy so they can play with each other.

Good stuff...

For £7 I am considering picking this up. Has the winter update made the player base more active on the PS4? Also, what kind of PVP is there, is it just basic multiplayer or is there seasons etc?

I bought it recently for 8 buck. And the wait time are usually average now for story coop.

Yup, it did. I didn't really experience any downtime with matchmaking yet.

There are four PVP modes at the moment, and we should get 5th mode soon but we don't know when.

INCURSION
Teams of heroes must defend their base from waves of AI-controlled minions while working together alongside their own minions to destroy their opponent's base.

CAPTURE
Teams of heroes face off in a fast-paced death match and must capture and hold objectives on the map to win.

MELTDOWN
Teams of heroes must guide their minions as they march to their death at the center of the map. Points are scored for every minion who throws themselves into the incinerator, and the team with the most points wins.

FACE-OFF
Two teams fight against each other in a 5 versus 5 match to exterminate the invading Varelsi. Each team must coordinate between defense and offense to kill Varelsi. Upon death Varelsi drop masks, collect these and deposit them in the center of the map to score points. The first team who reaches 500 points within the 15 minute time mark wins the match. Of course killing Varelsi makes them mad so like you the Varelsi will level up and get stronger over the course of the match. Also be ready for intense, multi-phase battles, as you will also encounter a boss battle. So pick up masks and steal them from enemy players and also be quick to pick up masks your teammates left behind.

I really like the campaign levels. Big, long, replayable, mmo lite mechanics. It's funny how I actually prefer them to Borderlands. Which is what everyone else wanted...

Been playing this almost nonstop since the winter update. Really loving all the changes and I'm starting to dive into characters I never tried before.

I like capture a lot because the objective is so in your face that people rarely ignore it in favor of attempting to get kills, a problem I see in Face-off and Meltdown a lot

Well I just bought this game a couple of days ago on PS4. I'll jump in and see how it is either today or tomorrow.
Let me know how it is. Really tempted to get it I just don't know what to expect from it.

EDIT: Caved in and bought this, played 2 games of capture and 1 game on incursion. Which is the 'main' mode if there is any?

So the ban and draft system is pretty cool.

Just started using Benedict. I can see why he seems to be the most banned character. He does insane damage and has tons of mobility. I am not great with movement yet but its still tons of fun to just glide around raining death on people. Or see someone camping up top somewhere and fly up there and surprise them with some Hawkeye guided missiles up their asses. And when they die I get to taunt them with a chicken dance from Arrested Development. Perfection.

The Oscar Mike Operation is loads of fun too.

If you wanna switch things up one game you can try going for the level 2 helix choice that adds push back to Lift Off so you can throw people off the edge of the map on certain levels :p

Wow, deluxe for $19?

I'm having a hard time finding out the contents is the season pass, though. Any new story mode levels?

You get 5 keys to unlock all five new characters (Alani, Ernest, Kid Ultra, Pendles, Beatrix) and you would get the access to five DLC story ops.

would you kindly elaborate on this? i was looking into this mainly for single player on the cheap.

Best way to think of it is that each Story Mission is like an MMO-raid that's playable in either a 5-man group or solo. So, large individual levels with some environmental puzzles/base defence/escort set-pieces enroute to 3-4 bosses throughout the mission.

ah that sounds cool, does it have rpg like aspects to the single player like leveling up and skills and whatnot?

In a MOBA-style, so you'll level up your character each mission, same as with MP, choosing an upgrade path as you go. It's based on changing your power-effects as opposed to changing actual Stats.

eh maybe i'll give this a try on xbone for $15 bucks, thanks for the info. is the online playerbase decent?

And as you level up each mission, the skill tree is split into two skill modifiers for each level. As you level up a character's rank, you'll unlock a third option for a few of those modifier tiers.

Beyond that, it's mostly cosmetic unlocks, and loot drops that you can apply to different loadouts. (+Skill damage, -CC duration, +Healing, etc)

Ha. One of my favorite kills was launching a Montana off the cliff by double thralls on Incursion with a well placed Ernest grenade + the knockback helix.

I take that level 2 choice anyway just to make some space from melee characters.

They're typically shorter (with 3 players instead of 5), but they have more replayability, scaling difficulties, and a number of unlocks for each character.

OK, sounds good. Are there still people playing the story missions, or is it a ghost town?

And I like those Pro enhancements. I wonder if the 1080 60 is a stable 60? That would be great. Played it on Xbox, and the 30 felt sluggish.

You might not always get a full group of 5 (and the game will scale based on number of players so it's not an issue), but population/matchmaking have been pretty good since the winter update.

Double dipped thanks to the sale on PS4.

I got the digital deluxe, I assumed this would unlock all 5 DLC Battleborn? I only got two keys. I did get 3 legendary packs, gave me literally the three worst legendaries I have ever seen lol.

There is a Lootpocalypse going starting today through early Monday.

You should be able to unlock all of them. Just hover over the character and choose "unlock" or something.

Got this game on sale for PS4 the other day.

THIS GAME IS DOPE! I don't get why people have been throwing shade it all these months.

It's definitely more tactical than overwatch if you're into that kind of hero shooter.

Because it's a Gearbox joint and many people have this weird obsession with Randy Pitchford where they pour scorn over anything he's breathed on. Even if it's actually a pretty decent game.

Ok the 60fps is really nice.

Also, I now have the ultimate badass edition? Was that a free upgrade for anyone who actually bought the game?
