Nice work on the OP Menome, really handy to have all piece of news together.

But as people suggested, a new thread should be created (with this one being kept and updated too, of course) when some big news arrive, like the beta date.

Battleborn infographic detailing the potential number of hero+team combinations over at the official website:

Brief interview with Randy Varnell with EPN.tv, gives a reasonable summary of the game in general:

....and finally, a rather mediocre pre-order bonus. Golden customisation skins for five of the game's characters:

dang, the gameplay for this looks pretty fun, but holy hell I can't get behind some of these character designs. Maybe they'll grow on me but at first glance a lot of them just look.... dumb

Character designs look really out there.

Orendi's my favorite.

I am intrigued..

Getting the vibe that MP/PVE will be Like TF2 on crack. I wonder how long/big in scale the campaign/main story is. Also, if there are different stories for each character?

Edit: That would prob be too crazy to do...aka doing like 3-5h different story campaigns for each character.

I get the impression it'll be like Borderlands with the same overall story throughout, but perhaps with some unique cutscenes for characters at the end

Word on the Battleborn Twitter-feed is that the Battleborn "Closed Technical Test" begins on October 29th. Platforms still to be announced, but I'm presuming all three will be involved.

As such, make sure you've signed up at https://rsvp.battleborn.com/ pretty soon if you want in. More news as I get it.

I wanted to be playing this or Overwatch. I was bummed I didn't get into Overwatch but now that I can play this I'm good.

Until Junk Rat came along I actually liked Battleborn more, now it's probably tied. Gonna be playing Miko with my friends Thursday.

To be hobest, I'm just not that fussed about Overwatch at all and didn't even try signing up for their beta. For some reason it just doesn't interest me.

As for content, from the email:

"Curious about the content in the Closed Technical Test? We’ll be giving players a chance to try out one of Battleborn’s competitive multiplayer modes, Meltdown, a new story missed called “The Algorithm,” and you’ll get your hands on 15 of the 25 playable heroes – including the newly-announced playable hero ISIC (he’s a 500-year-old murder machine)."

Here is the Super 2-Bit interview with Creative Director Randy Varnell - he revealed some cool stuff.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vk6vGozioI

Also here is a full match of the Meltdown mode with the minions,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbwdH6BlefI

Thanks! I'll add those to the OP when I get home later on.

I got my code and started getting the client for ps4.
I'm still not sold on the game for sure as the art style doesn't catch me and I've never played a moba. The idea of throwing single player into the game has me intrigued but who knows what that'll actually look like at the end of the day.

Got my PC key this morning and began the download, will finish it tonight.
Kinda looking forward to it, especially the story content.

Battleborn impressions from Polygon. Mixed response from them, but I can take the bad with the good:

http://www.polygon.com/2015/10/27/9617758/battleborn-impressions-moba-borderlands-gearbox-software

The most interesting tidbit:

Each playable protagonist has some kind of history with these villains, which will reveal itself over the course of the game through character interactions. Playing co-op as a certain pair of characters might reveal their intimate history. Certain stages might trigger recollections from cast members who have visited those areas in their pasts.

Lore challenges are also available to help fill out backstories. Fulfilling certain conditions during matches unlocks these bits of information.

I see people comparing this to Overwatch, and I get why, yea. But isn't Overwatch a pure arena shooter? Whereas Battleborn's multiplayer modes are more similar to a MOBA? Don't you have to herd minions through lanes to accomplish goals, and then you level up per round/match like you do in MOBAs.

Or am I wrong?

Edit: Just started gaining interest in this game as I was not aware it also had a full on co-op story mode. Phoebe looks really neat and can't wait to try her out in tomorrow's beta. Btw, how long does that run for?

Not all pvp modes in Battleborn involve minions afaik, and I don't know if we have the concept of lanes here, but Battleborn have (way?) more elements associated with a MOBA than Overwatch (which only associated element is "ultras". Come on). So no, you're not wrong. Two different beasts imo.

I no longer trust Gearbox enough to buy another game developed by them. This game doesn't look like it really stands out from any other game doing the same things.

Eager to give this a try when I get home. It was pretty fun at PAX (though I'm not sure if my enjoyment was tainted by playing it at a smaller booth that had the game running instead of waiting in the 3 hour line for one play).

Tried Orendi (fun) and Thorn (wasn't crazy about her). It seems to have a similar comedic tone as Borderlands which I'm fine with. I'm not sure how the game is really supposed to work progression wise though. In the demo it was basically a few sequential objectives with fodder mobs and a few bosses, with the ability to level several times to augment your character skills but I don't if they expect you to do that in every single mission or not.

There were loot containers and the like but no equipment or anything came from them. Usually it was temporary buffs, health, or money that could be spent to add turrets and abilities to the escort robot in the mission.

I thought it was fun, and it looked good, but ymmv

Im on ps4, and still this message:

"The selected feature is currently unavailable because you are in the battleborn closed beta test queue.

Sit tight! This may take a while! "

It's been an inauspicious start to proceedings. It is a Technical Test and part of that was always going to be checking queues and server-loads.

However, as pointed out: the Overwatch appears to be working just fine, which is a bit of a PR hit.

Overwatch servers just went down, probably because all the fun we were having crashed the servers. Is this game working yet?

EDIT: Nope, still not able to match make with anyone. Cool beta Gearbox.
