Battlefield 2 Demo LIVE

Xfire name: tegg

Same here. My pc crashed twice on the list too. Cant be bothered to play for an hour or two :p

Will get back into it after abit. I'm a newbie but this is fun straight off. :)

I have sound issues as well with voices. So i muted that and sounds ok so far. I thought it was my microphone but there's something with voices even in the single player making harsh cracking sounds in my speakers. Funny the graphics ended up excellent for me but stuff i wasnt worried about didnt work out that great. :lol

FUCKING A I'VE DLED THIS 5 TIMES, ALL FROM GAMESPOT, AND IT KEEPS COMING UP CORRUPT WHEN I YTU AND UNZIP IT!!!! Anyone having this problem?

Anyone know if the game has widescreen support?

1920x1200 is what I am looking for.
Right click on your Battlefield 2 icon on the desktop, click on properties. Now on the part where it says target, add +szx 1920 +szy 1200.

Any others wanting a different resolution just change the 1920 and 1200 to the resolution you want to use.

So it should look similar to mine (though i installed to a different directory and used a different resolution)

""C:\Games\Battlefield 2 Demo\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050"

Now, if you use a widescreen resolution like me, you have to change the FOV (field of view) to a proper widscreen FOV (so it looks correct). If you don't use widescreen, ignore this.

So those that do, go into your 'Battlefield 2 Demo\mods\bf2\Settings\' directory and edit the 'VideoDefault.con'. Look for the line that reads 'renderer.fieldOfView 1' and change it to 'renderer.fieldOfView 1.1' and your FOV will be correct (higher the number = wider FOV, so you could even cheat a bit and make it 1.2 but it wouldn't be accurate, but would let you see a little more to the sides. The adverse affect of this is you will have a farther zoomed back regular view.

Okay this is odd. I downloaded the file...and tried to run it. It says it's not a valid windows app. So I try to delete it, and it says it can't delete it, because it's in use by another app. So I restart...still have the same problem. All of the downloads finished instantly. I used TrueDownload for one, mozilla for one, and IE for one and they all gave the same problem. These came from FileFront. ANy help?

weird I will have to do this on my desktop (2x GT6800Ultra in SLI, AMD FX-55, 2gig ram) but my laptop (P4 3.6ghz, X800, 2gigs ram) it lets me select it in the options.

I guess with ATI you don't need to trick it?

oh my god this game is demanding. only medium settings with my rig; 2800, 6600gt, 1gig. :(

But fun as hell....
Something is wrong with your config.. since I have it on high @ 1280x960 w/ 2xAA on a overclocked 9800 Pro. Could be the cpu I suppose, since I'm running faster than 3200+ speeds.

The included drivers fixed the shadows problem for me, thanks fellahs.

Great game. I just wish it was 100% smooth all the time, but damn is it fun.

:O :O :O

I'm playing on x300se, p4-3ghz and 1 gb ddr2 ram (it's not a gaming computer) and I can play fine on medium settings at 800x600 with no AA, if anyone's curious.. I could care less about resolution/graphics.

The Anti-Aliasing in this game is terrible. :(
It's a fun game even though i'm really crappy at it.

:btw it runs extremely smooth on my cheap ati 9600XT gfx card at 1024X758 resolution. Everything is on medium exept for lighting and shadows - no slow downs at all.

some of us were lucky to get into the PS2 beta test in April :P
still, neither of them are final. playing a beta of one and a demo of another. especially a beta on PS2 vs a final released game on 360 vs. a demo on the PC. lets hold are judgements of "one is better" until we can play them.

yeah something was wrong. I installed the newest forceware drivers and now I can play high@1024x768. :)

But how can I get rid of the shadow problems? do i have to reinstall the demo to get the drivers that came with it?

Are you sure its even on? Alot of people are experiencing a problem where even if they enable AA, the game doesnt turn it on. If you have an ATI card, download the 5.6 catalyst and select app preference in drivers. Then turn AA on.

EDIT: ...just looked at ur graphics card. You might not be able to run any AA unless you want a huge performance hit.

I cant seem to hit anyone with the sniper rifle. How do you do it? I'm getting used to the game although some aspects require alot of play.

Posting this again...this problem is really not cool.

Sorry if this has been asked, but my LCD's native resolution is 1280x1024 and that isnt an option in the game, is there a way to force the game to that resolution?

I have identical set ups. I'll have to give this a try as soon as I get done washing my Porsche and picking up the huge bags of money I have lying around in the guest home.

Yep, that worked :D
I Had it on 4X in the ati control center which works on most games, I set it to let app. decide and it looks a lot better.
I have it set to 4X AA and it'sl running silky smooth. :)

I was gone yesterday. downloading now.... SWEEEEEETTT...

35 k/s not so sweet.

I was able to download it pretty quickly from File Front. not sure what kind of speed I was gettin exactly but I started it and like 15 minutes later it was done.

it doesnt run on my PC though. :(

if I were to buy an off the shelf PC that met some of the specs some of the people are giving in this thread, should it run well? I do realize with an off the shelf PC Id probably have to buy a video card so assume Ive done that already.

Retard moments seen so far:

Buggy spawns, three people running for it, retard gets in the car and speeds away without letting the other two hops on and he immediately slams head on into a tank and dies.

Jet spawns on the carrier and retard gets in it only to nose dive right into the ocean.

Guy loads up a blackhawk with a full load, takes off the carrier and bails out over the ocean letting the chopper crash killing everyone.

guy gets on buggy, people join in, guy drives backwards running over 2 teammates, and proceeds to drive over the mine protecting the entrance to the base. total friendly casualties: 5

I had the same shadow problem until I used the Nvidia drivers included in the demo. They were more current than the recent leak on guru3d.com.

This man speaks the truth.

If you're having shadow problems use the drivers that came with battlefield. Theyre in startmenu entry for battlefield.

I downloaded the demo. (Cause it's free.)
Is this just "Desert Combat" with better graphics??
What a waste of a download.
You guys are hyping this WAY too much... (Like everyting else. :lol )

EA Boycott still going strong...

anyone else having this problem:

I try to extract the file, and get an error.

Yeah your DL got FUBRed. Happened to me twice and I had to reDL to get it right.

By the way running it on an xp2000 and a 800 with 256 and it looked and ran smooth. Everything was on low, but I got no slowdown and the graphics still looked decent.
